Brimstone and Double Tap... IN ACT 1?! | Ascension 20 Ironclad Run | Slay the Spire 

Wow, that was my favorite run in a WHILE and you haven't exactly been disappointing lately. Early Brimstone, horrible cards, unpickable boss relic, survived with Reaper but low-key hard carried by Armaments and double Finesse aided by Toxic Egg, all those early elites, Juzu coming in clutch, just using everything at your disposal to climb to the top. Just inspired.

35:30 - Now that is an interaction I don't think I have ever actively noticed. Reaper brings Ironclad back from 32 to 75 health and thus above 50%, which triggers Red Skull to take back his strength buff (which isn't displayed as a debuff, prob bc it rarely happens), which is negated by the Artifact charge. It took me quite a while to figure out what caused the artifact charge to get used up there bc I couldn't find any source of debuff, but then it clicked, when I checked the relic bar for an interaction. Edit: 46:30 - Jorbs explained it, too, after it happened there

The rare appearance of the second cat about forty minutes in overshadowed the rare appearance of Brimstone in this one for me

Honestly, this vid deserves an award for "Best Action". Just thrilling from start to finish. Highlights: - Act 1: Brimstone + 3 million Elites w/ little rest + ultra greedy card selections - Act 2: Upgrades? Nah - Act 3: Reaper to the rescue. - Act 4: Tough Sword and Shield fight + Heart fight with a last-minute Barricade, two Dex pots, a couple Feel No Pains...and still nearly dead on the penultimate turn. WOW. Bravo.

Fun fact: brimstone is actually just a case of cultist potions that the hero and enemies share at the beginning of every fight.

holy shit , i'm glad to watch this run , always thought of brismstone as suicidal last attempt , but never seen a run where u buy it so early and build a good deck around it

Greatly enjoyed this one, an A20 brimstone run? With no disarms? Boss relic skip? Even if you got a couple lucky breaks in the heart fight, the deck was wonderfully constructed, especially given the choices in act 1 and 2. Nice work.

I am such a hopeless sucker for brimstone. Gimme that relic, gimme a reaper (which will let me wing all the fights) and gimme an F in the heart fight...but boy howdy, that's always such a thrill. Adrenaline junkie in me can't resist.

This is what always happens to me with brimstone too. Get it, steamroll most of the run, and then the heart either wrecks me HARD with that 15-hit bullshit or i barely eke out a win

Brimstone is a stressful relic. I would be very stressed to pilot a deck, which includes brimstone.

oof, man. GG; This was a good run but it felt bad (for me as another player of Slay the Spire) watching this because there are SO MANY points in this video where I would have made totally different choices. Granted I'm a bit out of practice because I just started playing again after several months of not really touching the game but still. Like right out of the gate, he was skipping card choices I would have taken without a second thought... ugh... I probably would have been brutally dead before the end of Act 3 if I even made it that far lol. Like my choices would have been so different, it was hard at the end to even guess at how far I would have gotten in comparison because I would have been making a very different (and probably much bigger and less effective deck). Oof... just blah... I guess the goodest thing I got out of this is that I should probably experiment a bit more with my decks... so many cards he passed felt like staples to any Ironclad deck I would build and obviously... that's demonstrably fucking incorrect lmao Also, that I suppose Feel no Pain is a good enough card that if you get it early Act 1, it's worth taking even if it's dead weight for a little while. I wouldn't take it that early usually if I didn't already have something to synergize with it. Mostly because there've been times where I was like "oh this is such a good power on this character, I'll take it even though it's useless" has almost single-handedly destroyed runs for me when I never ever get offered anything that works with it. It's a bit different, though I suppose, because usually i'm just hoping to build a deck similar to one that's worked pretty well for me in past runs vs. the fact that exhausting cards is such a big part of Ironclad's kit, you're almost guaranteed to have a few exhaust cards in your deck even if you're not building around exhausting cards at all. Plus it's a mechanic that's not necessarily exclusive to Ironclad cards so even worst case scenario, you will probably find a colorless card somewhere that'll make the Feel no Pain fit better, I guess. *sigh* Just that Jorbs is thinking about stuff that I'm not, like... early on when he was saying stuff like "too many unupgraded commons" to some of the cards I mentioned before that I would've taken almost without even thinking about something like that, particularly that early in a run, unless I already had a copy and was happy with how often I was getting it when I felt like I needed that sort of card. feel like I need to rewatch some of his more instructional vids... I feel like a fucking moron after watching this lmao
