The funniest story I know about the A-10 is during the Afghanistan Conflict a A-10 refused to fly back to base and leave his fellow comrades on the ground. He stayed so long he ran out of ammunition and started using flares to attack the enemy ground troops he would wait there providing as much support as possible until another aircraft showed up for support
