Is it possible that this video was made before they repaired and replaced the dock pilings? Is that why this video is titled Bringing Back the Old School?
Tomorrow on the 4th of July at black point marina is going to be fire works of crazy boaters. Come early too see Alfred ,fred and all the entertainers that make the chit show must see TV
Lol! Now I see Alfred. Your right! You have made Docking more safe or atleast more awareness! I forgot how bad it really used to be. Embarrassment is a great motivator to get alot better at Docking and unloading! LOL!
Alfred, why do so many boat captains shut their engines off before they have lines on the dock? Growing up in Central Florida with a ski boat I learned at 13 and 14 years old that you don't shut your engine off until you have at least one rope tied. That way if you have to make any correction whatsoever you don't have to worry about starting the boat back up.
Greeting from Prague. Do you also have a driver's license for the boat? So many bad captains, it's not even possible. With us, you must have a driver's license for anything with more than 5 hp. It is also divided according to age and performance. Motor boat or sailboat. If the sea or the river. For example, I have a Czech license for inland navigation and coastal, unlimited performance. In addition, I have a Croatian coastal license and I am preparing for a class B captain's license.
It varies from state to state. No driver's license but some states require a captain certification, others don't require anything. You still have to have a driver's license or state ID and registration for identification if you are stopped by police.
@@originalgrunger784 Really? This is new to me. But we are in the EU. We can travel to the sea between states as we please. without limits. But it is the same in other EU countries. You need the same license everywhere or a local license. For example, my Croatian one is only for the Adriatic Sea. The Czech license is for the entire EU. The Czech Republic also owns part of the Port of Hamburg, so we have access to the sea.
@@MichaelNeese That's probably why it looks like that in the videos. So many captains who have no idea how the ship behaves. Here you have to have a license in all EU countries, which is only good. Then there are not so many crazy situations. Here they will give you a crazy fine if you don't have a license or they will even confiscate the vessel.
I don't understand how a boat with 2 motors ends up sideways between 2 docks. Do modern throttles not allow you to put 1 motor in forward and 1 in reverse? And they sit there sideways helpless. I don't get it. Put 1 in forward and 1 in reverse and fix it. It is literally that simple. 🤦♂️
