BRINGING HOME OUR GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPY! potty training + puppy haul, picking up golden retriever puppy. PICKIN UP OUR PUPPY, PICKING UP OUR GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPY, FIRST 24 HOURS
Hello everyone, today is the day we finally bring home Ralphie, we are so excited and wanted to remember these moments. Watch us collect him from the breeder and get him settled into our home. We brought some bits for him and will continue to buy more once we figure out what works for him. Understandably we struggled with night time and potty training, so this is how we did it and it worked for us!

I'm so jealous. I hope to get one next year. Best dog breed by a long shot. As a kid my golden retriever used to walk me to the school bus every day and would be waiting for me when I got home. They're amazing.

With the crate training, don't close it right away. Leave it open while he eats in there. Then also hide "high value" treats in there for him to find. The more inviting you make it, the more he'll learn to see it as a happy place and not a scary place he gets trapped in. Keep lots of toys and every time he goes in on his own, praise him lots. Like you do when he goes potty outside. ETA: I've been volunteering at and fostering with rescues for over 10yrs, just so you know my experience with puppy training. Also, puppies and dogs in general, respond really well to high pitched, excited speech when they do something correctly. That's why he's doing so well with his potty training. Once you go back to work, it'll take him about 3 days to get used to your "new" schedule. Whenever you bring a new dog home, it takes 3hrs for them to decompress from the stress, 3 days to learn your schedule and 3 months to fully settle in to their new home.

Thanks so much for this. Yes we put lots of treats and toys in his crate as soon as he got home and he naturally was going in there which was great. He’s so good already! He always get a big GOOD BOYYY whenever he does something good. Thanks again😆

Oh how exciting!! Yes the donut is one of his favourites. A little bit of advise would be to get toys which crinkle or have fur or dangly bits, they love it as they can rip it apart!

A good idea is to try a plushy with a heart beat so they feel really comfortable! Such a cute little guy these are the days u want to remember the most❤

I had heard of this before, think we might try it! We played football with him last night until 9:30 which helped him sleep through most the night 😆Thankyou🥰

It’s become more difficult to try and play football every night after work😆 but as long as he’s awake and active that seems to be helping him sleep at night!

German shepherds and Siberian huskys are my favorite breeds! Although i have grown to really like the golden retriever breed as well lately but still trying to decide on a breed

I’ve had goldens my whole life. They have their own amazing personalities and Ralphie has made our family. You would have no regrets getting a goldie, they are so smart!
