Do you have a HYPER puppy that NEVER seems to get tired? This will help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ig6zWz-hZA0.html Happy Training!
I’ve had my 8 week old lab for 3 days now and he’s already learnt to sit, coming to his name and taking himself to his crate when he’s tired, thanks to these training videos that I’ve been watching. He also waits at the door when he needs to go outside! Thanks so much for these videos!
@@gwongpokes I didn’t set out to train him to wait at the door. I praise him lots with words, cuddles and treats when he does wait at the door to go outside so that probably helps. We’ve had him for 6 days and he’s learnt so quickly so think it’s just in his nature. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful
One of the things I really appreciate about your videos is that you show your training in someone's house, not a training facility or a separate training space. Me and my pup live in the real world. Thanks!
When I crate trained my puppy, I put the crate in another room right away. She barked the first night for one hour, and I did NOT respond to her purposely and in 1 hour she stopped barking. The 2nd night she stopped barking in 10 minutes, and the 3rd night she never barked again. She realized that the barking doesn't work, so she went to sleep!! No problems since then!!!
just need advice, i have never bought pet even once, so I do not have much experience, but I love them. So should I get male or female puppy and why? And which one should I, lab or golden retriever or GSD or pom? not husky even if I like him, bcs probably I do not have experience for him
Two full days with my new 3 month old pup. He’s doing well with crate training , potting training and name ! He’s doing so well! You guys have been a huge help!
What the heck my 7 week old pup literally screams when in the crate for 2 seconds like it was too damn crazy to keep him there all night how did you get him to like it with the door CLOSED?😭😭😭
@@Theeluckylibra you have to let the crate open all day and let him or her out, you can also try to give treats once he or she is in the crate let him or her to have a nap in the crate let him get used to it and by 2nd day you won’t hear no more cry .. Goodluck

I have taught my puppy "sit" & how to not bite while taking food from me.... This trainer is just awesome... I just love how she explains every action in detail... Want to see more of her training videos please 🙏🏻
I am 56 I have never been without a dog NEVER. We have a 14 1/2 year old that I am praying she sticks around a while longer. Lost my latest baby in December and am waiting on my next puppy to come home to me in 7 weeks. I love all the videos I am finding to help me/her with our new experience.
I brought my baby girl home last night and it was kinda rough. So I re-watched this video along with the puppy training guide and took notes. I think today will be a better day
just wanted to report back after 15 months of being with my dog. I have been watching these videos religiously literally from the first day my little daisy arrived at home. All the tips worked so well and she is amazing. It was a lot of work but so worth it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤
@@jules_dogy 😅It's not a competition. For me at least. I'm happy for you and your dog. Also I didn't say it took me 15 months. She is 15 months now, and long term results are speaking for itself. I can see how you could get confused by what I said though, so I will clarify what I wanted to say: After 15 months I can safely say, that what is shown in this video will have a positive effect for your dog long term.
@@jules_dogy it’s also illegal to cage your dog for anything other than transportation where i live. So i never caged her, i did however cage train her, because I am traveling from time to time. The cage is always open and she chooses to go there when she rests, i am happy she finds it to be her safe space because that makes travel less stressful for her. The house lead was also helpful, when we were training recall a lot in the beginning. She no longer needs it, but it was a great tool to redirect her attention sometimes. A lot of the tips here proofed to be very helpful for me. So i left the comment, because the video helped me. If you have an issue with what they are showing in this clip, maybe just leave a comment directed at them, not me, i am not the creator of this youtube video 😅
Guys! Thank you so much. I have studied your videos before bringing my husky pup home at 8 weeks old last night. I followed your advice to a T on everything apart from last night it was too late to really get her used to the crate after a pretty rough drive home on bumpy roads. Anyhow it's only 4pm here and she's already been doing her business outside and is currently taking a nap in her crate. She HATED it until about an hour ago but I kept up the positivity and didn't force her in and she just chilled out and decided she loves it. You are amazing and I cant thank you enough ❤️
Thanks for all of your videos. My husband and I picked up our new puppy 4 days ago (Pocket American Bully) and have done everything in this video so far. Especially being extra vigilant for signs of going potty. We got him at 6 weeks, so early still, so we've had extra patience with him and have left out some of the training bits (his attention span is next to nothing right now). I'm pleased to say he's only had ONE accident since we've gotten him, and now he's getting the hang of going to the balcony for his potty. We have a rug right infront of the balcony door, we put him on the rug, open the door, pick him up and put him outside on the Pooch Patch (grass) and now - only 4 days after being home - he goes to the rug when he has to go potty. He goes into the crate himself when he wants to sleep. He's such a good boy, and it's all thanks to this video and all of your other bringing your puppy home videos. Thank you!!
Hi 👋 are you taking him to the rug on a schedule or just when you notice the potty signs? I like the rug idea as potty signal association. I’m not getting my puppy until November, but I’m trying to seek out effective potty training methods.
@@blue1491 right when he wakes up in the morning, right after he naps, about 10 minutes after a meal he has to go so that's kind of our formal schedule. He pottys after waking up, then plays for about 30-45 mins and then usually he has to go out again before he takes another nap. But while he's playing we notice he has to go when he gets distracted and isn't interested in us or his toys anymore and starts to sniff around. That's when we pick him up, place him on the rug, open the balcony door, pick him up, put him on our porch grass and say 'pee pee time' every.single.time. and then give him praise and lots of pets when he goes. Going great so far
I’m so happy to have found this video. I get my new Golden in a few days time & I have to confess I’ve had a few sleepless nights worried & nervous about what’s to come over the next few months (years!). This video explains it all. I’ve got this! Thank you.
Here in the Netherlands and Germany when we get a puppy we get a cuddle toy with the pup that has been in their nest the whole time. So we put this in the crate with them for the comforting smell. We can also add a cuddle toy with our own smell. The crates also are a bit bigger to give them a bit more room to turn and stretch out.
I’m going to be a dog mom! First time having a dog. I’m super nervous and have been binge watching videos from training, diet, and what to do and not do. I’m getting a Goldendoodle so I’m watching more videos about that specific breed and puppies in general! Great video, lots of information! ❤🐶
Yeah 😅 But he’s the opposite of my first. He’s the dog you would get first and want another. 😂 So calm and well behaved at 4 months. Even the groomer was surprised at how chill he is
Fantastic video, thank you. My 8 week old Labrador puppy came home today. Your tips are so useful even though I’ve had Labrador puppies in the past, I appreciate your guidance. Marion from Scotland x
Getting my third golden retriever in about two months! He’s just a few days old 😊😊 I made some mistakes with my girls, getting ready to do better with my boy this time! Thank you!!
"be boring" they said 🙂 Any suggestions for getting a dog to go potty when literally every inch of ground is the most fascinating thing in the world and he's convinced that he's a cow (eats grass and leaves)
The puppy is also going through change. You want to train the puppy but you have to change your behavior as well. It’s not the puppy’s fault if they chew your shoes. It’s up to you to keep your shoes where the puppy can’t get them. Most importantly, let the puppy be a puppy. Let them have fun. They are only puppies once.
@@mariahjohnson1358 hey, i have a 4 month old cocker spaniel puppy, she doesnt bark a lot but they require loads of attention and have separation anxiety. they are very easy to train as long you do everything correctly!
Getting an 8 week old Shiba puppy on Saturday! He'll live with my parents, 10 min walk away, so not with me. However, I'm the one with the most time. I'm taking notes and planning how to train him. We've had dogs since 2007 but only one of them since puppyhood. That was 14 years ago! Rven though that dog turned out great, I'm now approaching in my 30s and really interested in dog training. Very excited!
I brought home our 7 week old puppy about a week and a half ago. Was told he's a golden retriever and newfound mix. He's doing fantastic. The first night he didn't care for the crate and whined quite a bit all night, but after that he's only waking up maybe once or twice through the night to go outside. Potty training is going well, but we've been having issues with biting. He wants to chew our hands and feet like a steak lol. So that's what we're working on now.
Same for me! My puppy won’t give me a chance to let her out and she just sits at the rug at our door and starts peeing. I am up at all times of the night and get no sleep 😭🤣
@@lily65 I just pick my puppy and carry her outside. It sucks cause we have 1 foot of snow on the ground but if I don't carry her outside she will pee. She will run out on her own sometimes tho.
@@IsItAconspiracy my dog will go outside if she is not on a leash (we live on a farm so it is not very worrisome) but he does not like the cold at all. It snowed 14 inches Christmas Eve and he does not want to go out side anymore. When he does, our deck is fully covered in snow so he just pees and poops on the deck because he doesn’t know he is still on the deck.
This is gold thanks so much for the info and time it took to do this Very clear instructions We get our first ever puppy in 11 days I’m very nervous this is helping Thank you
Oh My goodness! My son's pup is coming home in three hours time. Since it's our first time to have a pet, I have been freaking out and watching videos on RU-vid. My son has already named him Max! What a coincidence ☺️☺️ I will be learning a lot from you. Thanks.
I feel like i had such a good plan in place and i knew exactly what i was supposed to do and what not to do when i was bringing my puppy home but then i actually GOT her home and everything went out the window. Now i feel like i fail her
@@jachammer9138 one of the many reasons i wanted a dog was to train them to be a therapy dog, now i have an 8 month old whos more wild than anything and doesnt listen
I'm bringing home a standard Dachshund tomorrow and he is just a little over 3 months old. Thank you for this lovely video as a refresher course as it has been a long time since I have had a puppy.
I lost my pup in January. He died at 14 1/2 weeks from pneumonia. I pick up my new pup at 8 weeks 5/30. I feel like I get a do-over and I will do an even better job.
Today we brought home our Shihpoo puppy and he is currently crated. He was not to pleased about beginning his first and my anxiety is through the roof because we want to make sure he is as happy as he can be. Now I’m watching your videos while he rests to get prepared for days ahead. Thanks for the tips!
We’ve had my puppy for a week and she hates going outside and runs from me when I get her leash.. she is responding somewhat to treats but would love alternate suggestions! This video is so helpful! Thanks 😊
I think it's important for your puppy to be polite and know that you reward them for good behavior whether it's treating or showing affection and care about them with love
I really like this video, you demonstrate it all so well. I am getting my female min-pin puppy Oct 15 so I am getting ready, watching as many videos as I can. I have 3 neutered male dogs already (14y cocker, 14y doxie and 7y min-pin. I got my current min-pin as a puppy so I went through it all 7 years ago, but I forgot it all, so I have to remind myself.
Instructor Lauren is awesome. Thank you for making this video and making training a dog understandable and manageable. This is going to make my new puppy more enjoyable. I appreciate you guys so much.

I just got a new maltese puppy on 8th august, she turned 3 months old on 9th august. She cant go outside yet because she needs to get her 3rd vaccination. Her pee pad is in living room and she pees there most of the time. But at night and sometimes when we are not watching she always poops and pees in the hallway and living room, are there any typs ? And can i use apple vinegar to clean the accidents? Please help
Is there a process to follow when you're training 2 pups of different ages (2mnths and 1 yr) its becoming a madhouse. attention span, nipping, feeding, bathroom breaks etc.. sending an S.O.S lol
Lauren, I have just gotten 2 ~ 8 week old sister Labradoodle puppies they're 10 weeks old now when training them should I do this one puppy at a time? Also walking on the leash... they are either chewing on the leash or refusing to move pulling backwards, rolling just not wanting to walk while on the leash. As you mentioned about the crate I've been doing that wrong also....I have been keeping them in a 48"2 door crate TOGETHER I will get another crate. I'll be watching all of your puppy videos your All Awesome trainers thank you for all of this information I'm very grateful. 1more thing when they are outside playing the can get very intense and sound very aggressive towards each other. I have been interrupting them and telling them enough and I touch each of them on their side it stops them from sounding like they want to kill each other they are super sweet to each other when not wrestling. It's just been 20 years since I've had puppies this young and I just need all of your advice to Refresh my mind. I have gotten them to not jump up anymore yay lol. Please help any advice is so very much appreciated.
Yeah people who gets a puppy and don't know the amount of work you must put into your dog are just insane and naïve. I'm only getting a new puppy since my dad passed away so this puppy is going to be more of a service/family dog that will be apart of my life as long as possible. If you treat your dog with proper techniques and as a family member; the dog will be loyal and obey you to the end.
Lol I’ve been learning and planing for 2 years already. I was gonna get a puppy but I never did last year so hopefully I can get one this year so my hard work doesn’t turn into nothing. My mom lied even though I have been ready for a rlly long time,so I’m not getting a dog anymore.
I'm on day 3 of raising my second service dog puppy right now after 6 years of raising, training, and working with my first, and even I'm correcting a bunch of the things I was doing. However, I'm a bit in both camps because though I've done it all before, I was asked out of the blue to adopt the new puppy. I had been planning and saving for years but I wasn't planning on actually starting until 6+ months from now. There was indeed a last minute trip to the pet store for supplies and a second for all the stuff I forgot the first time.
I'm getting my third catahoula leopard dog, and sixth permanent dog in my life, in January 2024. I've never loved a dog more than my catahoulas. I always have to go over everything when I'm bringing a dog home, even if I know what's coming. This is my first AKC registered dog so I don't want to mess anything up.
I taught my puppy Appa how to sit already, and she was having trouble with biting so this really helped!! thanks I think she's on her 4th day with me so we're starting a little late into the week but better now than never :)
Thanks for the great video!!. I’ve watched quite a few and this one just was so straightforward and easy to understand. You really covered everything !!
that all depends on the dog! you have to find out what they like :) usually low value would be there regular kibble, medium value is training treats, and high value is small pieces of meat like cooked chicken or hot dogs. although, some puppies are more toy/praise motivated than food motivated! just try out different things and find out what gets your dog motivated to work and learn :D
Thank you for this! We bring our new puppy home in a little over a week. I've been watching lots of your videos and this one by far has been the most helpful!❤️
My 7 week old puppy was peeing every 10 minutes or so the first week. It was horrible! I was home watching her, but she just kept going all over all the time. I thought she had a health problem. She was drinking a lot of water, too. She's much better now at 12 weeks. She's going to the door when she has to go out, holding her bladder longer, and she's had only a few accidents inside.
We’ve been adopting all your puppy advice and it’s worked wonders for our border collie pup. Only question is when should I transition him to a larger crate? How soon is too soon? Thanks!
Such a great & informative video, especially the leash in the house lesson -- never knew that. I am planning ahead of time to learn as much as I can before I adopt our new life-long family member. I want our lil' puppy to be as comfortable as possible and I want him to feel love as soon as he's in our arms. But before all that, I must be well trained myself!
This is very helpful! I just got my two year old pup yesterday and man o man was I second guessing my decision overnight lol. But this will help. I was already doing a lot of these tricks last night so I will refine them and keep on trying.
I just had a lucky day and got the cutest puppy randomly from Walmart I didn’t have time to prepare and this is the first time I’m in control with a new pet so thanks for this , all the other vids I see tell you what you need to do but not HOW to do it and it’s very discouraging. Probably bc they want me to buy their courses lol so thanks for this I’m definitely going to keep up with the channel✨
I would recommend using a harness instead of a leash. Some people don't know how to handle puppies on leashes and can end up pulling too hard on it and choking the puppy. A harness goes around the body and through the arms rather than just around the neck. It's a better investment and will also be more comfortable for doggos :)
Thank you so much for the crucial training hints. How many treats ( pieces) at the time or per training session you can give them. Looks like you are giving him a lot of treats. Also how many minutes, hours per day, or sessions per day I need to dedicate to training? Especially the first a couple of weeks? Thank you so much
This was so helpful thank you so much! This is my first time getting a puppy on my own. I’ve been watching so many training videos, but had no idea where to start.
Picked up my 9 week old puppy last Sunday. I’ve had 4 children, but was so nervous 😬 I’ve been working on her sitting for treats and we are there already ! She already plays fetch aswell 🤗 Working on stopping her scratching with those little sharp claws..when we pick her up she tends to get excited and claw at your chin area a bit. Trying to get her to know her name at the minute. Haven’t got very far with crate training, and wanted to ask if it’s ok to put a puppy pad at the entrance of the crate?
When we got our puppy for the first three days we were taking her out every 30 minutes. Then when she went for her first vet visit he said under no circumstance to take her out until she is vaccinated for leptospirosis. We got scared and listened and are waiting for her last vaccination for that. How do I break her from going in the house on the wee wee pads once she is ready to go out?
Get your dog used to a single pad in the same location for a few days. Each time you put a fresh pad on the floor, move it a little closer to the door. Each time your dog goes on the pad in its new location, give him a treat and plenty of praise. Move the pad all the way to the door and treat your pup when he uses it. from: How to Train Your Dog to Stop Using Pee Pads | Wag!
Our breeder said The vaccine leptospirosis, should not be given unless your puppy/dog is outside a lot as in hunting or camping. Usually, it is not advised for city dogs. If given, it should be given alone and only after the puppy is 20 lbs. Also, you should stay at the vet for 20 mins after the shot has been given.
This video is amazing! Bringing are presa home next week with the breed type they need a lot of training and direct instruction at all time so this video is great to give more information!
I am getting my puppy in June,so I have been trying to learn as much as possible before I get her. I loved all of your ideas, especially the crate training. Thank You!!❤️
Wow. Fantastic tip to keep your puppy on a leash even inside. You aren’t bringing him home after all, you are bringing him to his pseudo prison. Stay away from these kinda tips and love your puppy. They are smart enough to make you feel happy and listen to everything you tell them when they know that you love them and if they misbehave, it makes you upset. Give them the same level of freedom that any other family member gets at your home.
Just got my new puppy, a little bit nervous coz this is my 1st time to have a furbaby😌. I hope i will be a good furmom to my baby hachiku. And a little worried coz I don't know what she feels being away to her mom☺️she's turning 2 months this April 30☹️
I use a cage for my puppy so she can have a lot of space and it makes her feel safe and calm. It fits inside and I never move it. I did the same thing with my other two dogs but they are much older now so they do not need it anymore.
Watching all these ‘bringing home puppies’ and ‘puppies for Christmas’ vids can be worrying. Potential puppy families should watch this channel first. Thx for sharing.
Great video, thank you! But I'm confused why you often reward him for unwanted behavior. Example: 11:47 "good boy" as a reward signal is used when the dog jumps on you to get to the treat.
I used a seam ripper and remove the stitching from the end of the the nylon loop of leash which forms the leash handle on the 6 foot leash or 4 foot leash to make - Puppy House-Line
