Shag Rock is located off Brisbane’s North Stradbroke Island, just a kilometre away from Frenchmen’s Beach near Point Lookout. It can be easily accessed by a private boat of any size or via a commercial Dive provider. Manta Lodge and Scuba Center located on Straddie runs regular dive trips to this location and is my operator of choice. Surrounding Shag Rock are rocky reefs and coral gardens with depths from six to 20 metres. Being relatively shallow and usually having calm conditions and clear water (the visibility in this video was 40m!), it is a perfect site for beginner scuba divers. However, the experience divers will not leave disappointed either as Shag Rock is full of various marine life. Reef fish and invertebrate species are very common, including nudibranchs, moray eels, crayfish and cuttlefish. Shag Rock is also home to turtles, wobbegong sharks, various rays, and pelagic fish.
This video fas filmed during my recent dive at this location and features a lot of incredible marine life that can be found there. It is filmed using GoPro Hero 10 with BigBlue VL18000P dive lights.
