Although Queensland winter is not what it is in temperate areas, it is still cold with temperatures at night reaching single digits. However, the water temperature still doesn't drop below 19C. So diving in winter is still comfortable in 5mm wetsuit. Moreover, winter usually brings wonderful diving conditions. As during winter months the algae development slows down due to lower water temperatures, this season usually brings excellent visibility. It is also less likely to have your dive cancelled due to rainfalls and swell. This is my first winter dive video of the season, which I filmed at Turtle Cave dive site at Flat Rock, North Stradbroke Island. Located on the northern side of flat rock, this site is suitable for all levels of divers with a small cave sitting at 10m and the reef dropping to a max depth of 30m. This is also a Marine park with a huge variety of tropical fish and other marine life at any time of the year.
