I've been blessed to spend several years traveling to Bristol from Texas for work with Airbus and have fallen in love with city, the people, the history and even the football (Go Robbins). After seeing this kickstart and the subject matter I knew this would be a great game to have and play!!
I live in Bristol (and so have my family for hundreds of years), so I'll be backing for that alone. The timing of this when I'm living in Bristol under the coronavirus lockdown does take some of the shine off though
I have contributed to the Kickstarter campaign! I already have Salem 1692 (my favorite!), Deadwood 1876 , and Tortuga 1667, so I might as well get this, too!
Played it for the first time last night, the parts quality is excellent. The board is a bit small and harder to see (but I'm older, bad vision). The colors on the cards are a bit difficult to distinguish (others on BGG are posting the same issues), the green/orange/red/brown are all a bit off, but there's a chart on BGG to help match up to the player tokens. A custom board would be great, and also a longer board might even be nice as a few times it felt our games ended pretty quick before we could do much movement. Obviously we're inexperienced so this could just be part of it, but I will say the coin mechanic really added a lot to it, and the laughing/accusations/declarations of innocence all really made the gaming table a fun enjoyable experience. A definite hit with this one, and this comes from a crew that plays a lot Resistance and Werewolf.
@@maxscherer7579it's an add-on that let you give a coin to a player (or yoursef) : 4 of them don't do anything (beside bluffing), 1 give the player the plague, 1 give grant you immunity to the plague

If you are pushed then you go to the back of the cart currently in last place. If you are pushed from the cart in last place, or all carts behind yours are full, then you are out of the game. HOWEVER, if you reveal that you were healthy then the person who pushed you is also out of the game. People will usually think twice before eliminating someone and it is relatively rare that a player is completely eliminated.
I bought this and played 2 rounds I have some questions First, our group have 5 players, sequence is Player A -> player b -> player c -> player D -> player E PLAYER A and B ‘s cart is first cart, E is is confirmed plague. And E’s cart is the second cart, player C and D is the last cart. In same round, A,B,C,D already finished their round, E wanna to get in first cart ( A,B’s cart), can A / B use whip to refuse E get on the cart? Because the instruction say whip count as main action not extra action. I am so confuse with it. Second question is, crushed emeralds can make player has extra move : elbow, dash , push) Situation one: player 1 try to elbow in his main action, and then use Crushed emeralds for extra elbow to cross player 2. According to the instruction, player 2 need 2 whips to stop player 1. However, if player 1 choose re roll 2 dice, after re rolling, he use the crushed emeralds to elbow player 2, can player 2 only use one whip to refuse player 1 to elbow him? I searched on internet and i can’t find any answer, hope you guys can help me🙏🏻🙏🏻
First question: Yes, the whip can be used out of turn to prevent someone coming to your cart. So A or B could use a whip to prevent E from joining them. Second question: A whip is needed to stop each movement. If player 1 tries to elbow twice (from main action + crushed emeralds movement), player 2 would need two whips to prevent that. If player 1 tries to elbow once (from crushed emeralds movement only, since main action was used to roll dice), player 2 would need only one whip to prevent the elbow.
Quick question: Let's say I currently have two symptom cards with a value of 4 (8 total). It seems I have the plague. During the turn several rats are rolled for our cart, and we have to mingle our symptom cards. Let's say I get cards with a value of 1 and 2 back. Am I now no longer a plague victim (at least for victory conditions)? Or is it a matter of "once you have the plague, you have the plague?" Thanks in advance for the clarification!
@@MichalB41 if carts end a round on the same spot, the cart that started that round ahead of the others is "nudged" slightly forward from the others, but stays on the same square. This determines positioning for the next round for pushes and dashes, though the carts are on the same square.
Tortuga amd Salem are outstranding party games. I am debating backing this one but it may be too simplistic for me. Not much team play in this one, very little social deduction it seems. More a crap shoot and race.
This one is actually a good mix between Salem and Tortuga. Salem because the "bad" team spreads during the game, Tortuga because different actions are available to you based on your position in the cart (push, elbow, dash) and because your "team" is sort of muddled along the way. There's a lot you can do to control your Symptoms (avoid Mingles, play Pomander, play Leeches), and a lot more strategy then you seem to be expecting. Hope you'll join us, especially if you like Tortuga and Salem.
It's deeper than that. Yes you're racing, yes you're needing to be a bit stubborn but you are also making sure in this race the people in your apple cart are also not infected. People are behind you trying to get into your cart if you are in the lead, you are shifting alliances regularly. There's a lot of 3D chess in this game but only after a few play-throughs do you start to see the depth of it, the race becomes just part of it...and if you become infected? Well...that just makes it fun to switch gears and become the ultra ***hole, going from a healthy racer to a secret super-spreader without tipping everyone else off.
I am a huge fan of Tortuga and I backed the kickstarter and just got the game two days ago. We got to play 3 times already and really love it. Very similar to the strategy/social deduction light nature of Tortuga and quickly becoming a fav. I wasn't seeing that from the simple videos and what not but not that I actually have all the cards and the player abilities there is a ton of depth and really interesting team play options/ways to sew discord if you are on the outs
Love Tortuga! but I will have to pass on this game. It seems too easy to get eliminated and you have no way of tracking if someone had the plague but then mingled and no longer have the plague cards but still has the plague. Really confusing, seems unfinished or a bit rushed to get it out during the pandemic maybe?
Not rushed at all. Planned the release for 2 years. Elimination is rare, since if you push someone to their death and they reveal that they were healthy then you die as well. We've never encountered cheating in any of our tests, since plagued people really enjoy taking other people down with them. Also not very confusing. On your turn you roll 2 dice, move your pawn, or draw a remedy card. Groups pick it up in 5 minutes in our experience. Hope you'll join us!
