They have been doing hip hop for the longest time now, this is a breath of fresh air you should check out their other songs like kill this love, pretty savage, playing with fire and more...
Personally I believe Jisoo had always been a good vocalist (Yuki No Hana, Clarity, How Can I Love The Heartbreak, DKWTD, LSG, Crazy Over You and many more), it's just that she never really got the chance to showcase her admirable vocals before. I'm glad YG gave her the opportunity to prove it to the world that's she's not just a visual but also an unbelievably talented vocalist.
Jon, as a blink I'll let you know the blackpink cult secret : it's impossible to have a top list. BP songs are all bops for a certain mood. enjoy the ride 🍹
Tally hits hard for Jennie because she's been attacked NON STOP since debut for breathing. Was even attacked for dating. In case you didn't know, Jennie is the most loved and the most hated Kpop Idol in the world. It's insane. Tally saying "I do what I want with who I am" is so satisfying 🤌
fun fact, now that you mentioned Abel at 9:20 actually Jennie is Abel’s friend and she’s set to start in his next series, The Idol. funny thing is, both yeah x3 and hard to love definitely give me some “how do i make you love me”/“in the night” vibes
Shut down is better if we are comparing Shut Down with Pink Venom, but in this album THE HAPPIEST GIRL is the best song and I love it more because Lisa could showcase her beautiful voice. She always slays with her bars but in this album we heard her soft voice and the song is very sentimental. So in my opinion, THE HAPPIEST GIrl is the best track in that sense.
@@LeonorIsabel Definitely not, have you even watched there interviews. Rose is always hand holding and leading the convo, its giving leader things. Just because Jennie is the ace, doesnt mean she gives off leader vibes and def not jisoo, lmfaooo
I am just so happy that YG used Jisoo's potential in this album... She made the album lively... No hate to others always an OT4 But, Jisoo's vocals made me cry in happiest girl... Just literal goosebumps
@@splashgamer7027 no, they're a hip-hop-based group. in terms of how many songs of different generes they have I would say that hip-hop is outnumbering
@@lovelyz-t3h gurlie their song is literally POP and EDM more than Hip-Hop LMAO😭 they literally just rap on a EDM and POP Beat. they're a Pop Group, mixed with EDM and a bit Hip-hop, which is THE ALBUM is so much better than BORN PINK.
I love both pop and hip hop on the same level so for them to make this album more pop when their last album had more hip hop elements to it, was a cool difference. Plus even with their pop they can easily add attitude and grimy to it. One thing I also liked is that the format to a lot of these songs are not their typical format which is them all starting off the first verse, then a hip hop verse with Jennie or Lisa or both JenLisa with Jisoo and Rosé doing the vocals, and for the final verse it’s like a big dance party or the hook repeatedly. Not that I mind that format tho cus shit DDU-DU DDU-DU, Crazy Over You, As if it’s your Last still slaps for me but it’s a difference that I noticed in this album.
I would have liked one or two more songs. The Rose solo was unexpected but i really don't care because the song is a masterpiece with Roses voice! This makes me feel happy because now that they introduced a solo song in the album, maybe means that after Jisoo solo debut, they will add more solo songs or duos in their future albums!
it’s actually one of the worst received by the fandom it seems, I also like it the most, it doesn’t speak to me, but there are some elements to it that I enjoy
You were on point about their global appeal and authenticity! Check out their Netflix documentary if you'd like to know more about the girls and/or the kpop industry in general. Also, please check out Lalisa by Lisa!! She is incredibly talented and versatile. The fact that she can spit bars in Korean and English, none of which is her first language (she's Thai) is just amazing. Check it out pls!
It's a bit of a risk this album. Less of their signature style & perhaps a tad more conventional. But Rosé mentioned in Light Up The Sky how she missed her training days despite the grueling hours & harsh critiques because back then it was all about music & exploring all different types of music. As with actors I guess musicians can get typecasted. What brings you fame & success may not be the only type of creation you enjoy making. Fans & critics can enslave you to a particular style of music & music-making can lose all its joy & passion. It's smart of the girls to capitalise on their success so far to put out something that perhaps they always wanted to explore, but the management company were reluctant to release for fear of disappointing fans & critics. Reception for the next album may be affected by this shift in direction. But I respect & support their right to make music that they enjoy making. As a long time Blink I will support them whichever direction they want to explore despite being mostly a hiphop fan myself. I have faith they'll execute well. It's not like I haven't listened to & enjoyed other genres before. So I'm keeping my mind open & curious about what these 4 want to try next. I'm a Blink not just because of the music, but because of these 4's personalities & friendship. I want to know more about them as individuals. To me they're not just music commodities to be left by the wayside when the next flavour of the month comes around.
The fact that you admit that something isn't your cup of tea lends more credence to the fact that you actually enjoy the rest, without pandering to us as fans. So that is actually really important. I'm not a big fan of Ready for Love, it feels like fat trimmings off the perfect BP steak.
My favourite one is hard to love. After listening shut down and pink venom I was thinking that an injustice was done to Rose.Fortunately They gave Rose what she deserved with the song "Hard To Love" P.s. I love all of them equally.
Born Pink is the album of the year! Very versatile and unique throughout this whole album you get everything. They’re very talented, rapping, vocals and dancing they do it all! 11/10 it’s above and beyond for me. The Happiest Girl is probably my favorite cause it’s a very beautiful song with strong lyrics and their vocals are top tier very soothing to hear.
Ready to Love (one of my favourites) and Hard to Love are such great songs and Rosé delivers a sublime vocal performance especially in the latter track, but both songs don’t belong in Born Pink album. As it is the album already feels incomplete, but Ready to love makes it lyrically and musically an even stranger way to end the album. Hard to Love is lyrically completely Rosé, not Blackpink. It fits the lyrical themes of her previous solo work better; like a continuation. Doesn’t fit Blackpink at all because the other Pinks aren’t the sort to be hyper critical of themselves, at least not in their music. Weird that it was included in a Blackpink album instead of giving Rosé another solo album. If she has ready songs, just release the 2nd solo album already. Hard to Love could be a no. 1 solo record for her. I still do love the mini album and give it a solid 8 or 8.5/10
i feel like blinks can appreciate this album more cuz i know many blinks were complaining about all of their songs being so similar & this album gave us something else
Thank you for doing such a great reaction! I’ve been watching your videos since you reacted to Lana Del Rey (one of my favourite artists), and I’m so glad that I can share my emotions of listening different types of music with someone like you even through the screen😅. Thank you again. Wish you good luck and will be waiting for new videos.
Great reaction. You have to readjust expectations when it comes to Blackpink. They have had Comebacks with a single song. They had something like 9 songs in their first 4 years after debuting. This is 4 years of material in Blackpink terms.
I think Pink Venom is superior to Shut Down in regards to the production and mix of styles but compared to all the BP discography is the same formula that's why I prefer Shut Down, but I love the entire album.
Shut Down hands down best Single for me, because Classical x HipHop x K-Pop just blend in and build up to Mysterious vibe and Femme Fatale, and thru the song i'm not mad for the end of song of Shut Down, Teddy just took the route not every song must drop freestyle dance. Typa Girl, The Happiest Girl, Shut Down, Tally and Pink Venom my fav.
love this album! tally is so good i’m surprised you weren’t feeling it! to me they gave really good hailey williams and taylor swift vibes on different parts of the album. both the rapping and ballad stuff isn’t corny either. really amazing production too!
I like both. It's just that it's very apparent who was leading the production for the songs. Teddy is the main producer for BP albums, however, since R.Tee came in, his influence just changed how BP sound. He's the same guy who made simpler beats to Kill this Love and PV's chorus drop, to which fans called lazy. And now this album is generally simpler and laid back. I do believe this is R.Tee's strong influence in the production. And I'm loving it. I like cleaner songs than the usual kpop sounds. Also, I'm older, by age and in kpop.
Honest and nice reaction, I liked it. If you like hip hop tracks but also you are keen on listening to artists with a big musical range, I recommend BTS. An additional layer to BTS artistry is that their albums are linked and many topics they are covering in their songs are linked to modern society problems and literature tropes. Analyzing lyrics would be crucial to understand the group's message so I recommend you to do this while listening to the songs.
fun fact, now that you mentioned Abel at 9:20 actually Jennie is Abel’s friend and she’s set to start in his next series, The Idol. funny thing is, both yeah x3 and hard to love definitely give me some “how do i make you love me”/“in the night” vibes
That guitar tone in Truly sounds like a slowed down SOAD “Toxicity” and/or incomplete riff of Linkin Park’s “A Place for My Head”. I thought of those two immediately.
wtf este hombre sabe exactamente lo que pienso, la canción de Hard to love quedaria perfecta para que Rosé la cante con The weeknd, uuf quedaria aun mas hermosa esa canción
I love how he said it’s ok to have a ballad in an album and it’s expected but “I prefer the hip hop songs”; but after listening to The Happiest Girl he went “OK THAT WAS FIRE”
I liked the fact that this album is more pop than hip hop, I mean in a pop song how hip hop can you get more than shut down and pink venom, so they gave us that.. but the rest of the album was different from what bp mostly put out so I was so happy of their choice of these songs this time even tho I appreciate the hard hitting hip hop songs more.. if you want more hip hop there is their other album for that "the album" so you can check it out
Since I love the songs of K-pop artists, why don't you react to BTS? I would really like to see your reaction to their songs. Many also want to. If you want to advise you, just listen to Mike Drop and BTS Ran and ON ❤️
