What thing I don't love about some of the sexual references are that they automatically subtract a certain percentage from the folks who you can play it for. And that's a shame, since those folks would be bowled over by the depth and breadth of his talent. And BTW, SUCH a great dance tune!

@@Linusrox123yh that’s also a fair critique. I think especially like in my case if you don’t automatically get all of the historic references and movie puns the sexual references could come across more distasteful to many and hider it’s commercial appeal

A lot of Brits are very fragile these days… they take everything VERY seriously and literally… the younger generation don’t seem to understand humour or piss taking … they get very hurt by hurty words… 🤷‍♀️ I blame the education system in the UK now… my son thankfully has a superb sense of humour but we pulled him out of school and home schooled him lol

I think losing it had a similar vibe but because it wasn't a lyrics video people miss the "raw" "busting a nut" and other suggestive wordplay.

As long as the people who don't like his lyrics don't try to cancel him, as that would really boil my p*ss.

I dunno- im pretty sure most people will know theres nothing to be offended by because its totally just fun pissin about nonsense- he doesn't mean anything serious with the 'offensive' lines. I feel only the sorts who can't take a joke will have any issues with the lyrics.

Funnily enough I reacted to 1,2,3 a a day before in prep for 4 and I had basically the same take as u (that will be coming out later today) I definitely got that he was having fun and messing around and joking whichi can appreciate. Just for part 4 the sexual jokes for me were a bit overkill. But I agree it’s a nice switch from some of his other tunes like I said in this video not all of his tunes need to be all deep and meaningful to still bang!

I agree - there are tik tok vids of younger kids playing REN’s stuff on their guitars and pianos . His demographic has expanded a lot - kids are listening to him because their parents are playing his stuff . If it becomes adult themed he will loose that audience . Be a shame . I think Ren is smart enough that he doesn’t have to depend on innuendoes or as in this song actual explicit lines with the lyrics written in case you didn’t hear it clearly. The song is catchy but I am not a fan of the lyrics .

Yh I think that’s a fair point i can see how if you don’t get many of the movie or historic references the sexual references can come across more abrasive.

It may encourage so people to check out his references. Its full of British humour, double entendre, for sure. There is the third person, social observation aspect too. He's flipping between himself and stuff he sees and hears. I like his funky old skool sampling shuffle (James Brown), like hip hop artists did back in the day.
