Many Brits move here physically and that's easy but moving here mentally is much harder for Australian society is totally different to British society. We breath the same air, we drive on the same side of the road and we speak the same language.......more or less but that's about as far as it goes. Distances in Australia are HUGE compared to Britain and I read somewhere that you could fit the UK into Australia seventy six times so that gives you some idea of just how big Australia really is. We're only slightly smaller than north America but don't tell Americans for they'll never believe you.
believe me Aust is more briddish than you think. . you forgot to mention the blue skies, sunny weather and FRESH AIR. welcome. May you have nothing but good luck and good fortune.
The layout of Aus cities and housing were always very different to the UK, except for the very early colonial period. Oddly, some cities in the north east of the USA are a lot more "British" in terms of architecture and street scapes.
Winston Churchill was the man who drove us off the mothers teat and into the arms of the Americans, and he didn't give us much choice in the matter either.
