Small, medium, large, extra large and super size fries and drinks. You can get not just a bacon cheeseburger, but a single, double or triple bacon cheeseburger. Yummmmm. Up north they even swapped out the burger patty for a giant deep fried cheese curd patty. Double yummm. For drive through we have dispensaries, liquor stores, pharmacy, fast food, banks, fancy restaurants, wedding chapel drive thru. Flu shots, fishing baits, even Walmart and some stores you can order online they will pick all your items for you and you just drive up they will pack it in your car and you take off. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something else that has a drive thru. Oh yeah drive in movie theaters no need to get out of your vehicle.

I’m begging you to watch a video on how bullets work. Also yes, you can buy rocket launchers and grenades. As well as fully functional tanks. And automatic guns. But You have to pay thousands of dollars a month for a tier 3 weapons permit that. And your only allowed to use/shoot them in a government mandated shooting range or an open field far away from any other people.

If someone drums up a conversation with you and finds out you’re in the states because you are actually interested in American culture don’t be surprised if you get invited to some sort of function. A lot of Americans are welcoming and would love to show someone like you how we spend time having fun. We are easy to make friends with for the most part.
To add to what you were saying...I know a ton of Americans (mostly Liberals lol) that are accepting of other nationalities into the country and it's quite nice to see something new for a change. I knew a guy who lived in Eritrea, Africa for most of his life moved to Milwaukee a few months before going to a Job Corps center I was at...and he was accepted as an American immediately. He even spoke Tigrinya while on the phone and even taught me a few words to say.

Cheerleaders are serious athletes. My daughter is 15 years old. She is a freshman in high school and she’s on the varsity cheer team. She was a competitive gymnast for years decided she didn’t wanna do that anymore and then became a cheerleader and it’s her whole world and we love it.
High school cheerleaders are not as sexualized as made out to be in TV and films, when you get to college, its gets a little sexier, but its the pro cheerleaders for the pro teams that are the really sexy ladies. The pro cheerleaders are basically meant to be a sexy stereotype.
It's certainly changed drastically since I was in school. The cheerleaders all wore skirts and bloomers so the boys would catch a glimpse up their skirts, up to the point that "cheerleaders" became a trend in pornography. Fortunately things have changed over the years so that young ladies aren't as hyper-sexualized as in years' past.
It’s come a long way since I was in high school. It’s considered a sport now. My niece was very serious about it and usually each year would end up at ESPN for a tournament. High school cheerleading was like practice for them.
The average American teen is driving by 16.5/17. We have a big driving culture so teen drunk driving accidents are more common in the US than it is in the UK.
Other countries probably don't have as many teen drivers because they have trains and buses everywhere. Most of the US doesn't have good public transportation or sometimes ANY public transportation. By default we have to have cars to get around literally everywhere because everything is miles away from your house- including schools, and let's be honest, no one wants to ride the school bus if they don't have to. So, many kids get cars at the age of 16. A by-product of that is that 18 to 21 year olds in most of the country have to drive to parties- where they drink- and then have to drive back home. That's the reason for the higher drinking age. Big cities where you can catch a bus or subway or are close enough to walk to your destination are the exception. As are college campus parties I guess.
The death rate involving teen motor vehicle deaths due to intoxication, had drastically increased so the government changed the legal drinking age to hopefully stop underage drinking
The only time I see people wearing pajamas is at Walmart late at night or very early morning. Sweatpants and sweatshirts are something else, those are more common.
I used to do all of my grocery shopping between midnight and 2am when I lived in a city with 24 hour grocery stores. I never shopped at Walmart (still don't) and always wore pajamas since I was ready for bed but went to the store at a time that I didn't have to deal with idiots. The stores in my small town close at 11pm so I only go in my pajamas when I shop around 10:30.

It wasn't always like that and it isn't like that everywhere. I think if you wore pajamas to the store in somewhere like Boonville, Indiana you'd probably get some strange looks.

The flag represents our Constitutional Republic, which was instituted in order to safeguard our individual rights, and consolidate the states (formerly akin to individual countries) into one nation. Thirteen stripes for the original states and fifty stars to recognize our growth. As such, it shows us that we are part of something greater than hometown or home state politics.
Wearing the flag as clothing and buying Chinese-made American flags with the wrong number of stars and stripes isn't patriotic. It's faux-patriotism, kinda like the people who go to church twice a week just to go home and beat their wife and children.
The US turned its obsession with pj-like comfort into an entire new sub-section of clothing called "Leisure Wear" (or "Athleisure") that's essentially glorified PJs so we feel better about wearing it in public and can match while being oh so comfy 😂
I was a cheerleader from ages 12-18. Captain final year. It is hard work and definitely a sport. Some "dance teams" do similar routines, but real cheerleaders have to know tumbling, tosses, routines, and dance. Very similar to gymnastics. At least when I was in school in the 80s, cheerleaders were definitely popular (as was the football team players). But there is a lot less snark than on TV/movies. Remember, you're either throwing, or you are being thrown, about 15-20 feet in the air. That's TRUST. I wouldn't want someone b*tchy to be catching me.

I find this mostly true in very rural areas. I live in a “southern” state, kinda OK, and I don’t do this unless it’s in my neighborhood. But I’ll do it if I don’t know the person, so maybe it’s true? lol.
I did not have a crashed car at my school for prom. They never did that. However, I live in SC now. They run tv commercials for drunk driving, distracted driving, trying to beat the train, etc. The tagline in those commercials is “Highways or Dieways.”
FYI, if the wage+tips don't equal more than the minimum wage, the restaurant has to make up the difference. So, if they aren't good at their jobs, they'll make minimum wage. However, if they do an outstanding job they can sometimes make well above it.

I wouldn't say "most waitresses", but some. It all depends on location and style of restaurant. I'm sure they may make that much in areas that have a higher cost of living to begin with, but that's only a hand full of very highly populated areas in the country.

Cheerleaders actually are very athletic as the stunts they do require serious effort and training to do properly. They get injured just like everyone else you know. Some cheerleaders became wrestlers or movie stars because of their social skills and athletic abilities.
My cheerleader granddaughter is tall and considered a “base” and lifts what is called a “flyer” a smaller shorter girl. Aerials are gymnastic moves incorporated into dance routines and other movements within cheer routines. These female and male cheerleaders are very athletic.

No, 18 is too young to be legal for drinking. I remember what it was like, and it was so easy for all high school and middle age kids to get alcohol. Everyone in high school knows 18 year old seniors, and they have no problem buying their younger friends booze. Generally, a 21 year old has enough sense to not risk the consequences of buying alcohol for minors under 18. They may may be dumb enough to buy it for 18 to 20 year olds, but nor for under 18.
If you are in the military you can drink alcohol and even buy it. Doesn't matter if you are 18. I suppose people don't know you can drink if you are old enough to fight
They lowered the voting age to 18 after the Vietnam War because, well if you can die for your country then you should be able to vote. They never lowered the legal drinking age though.
When I was in highschool, if we wanted alcohol we would go down to the warfs and find a "bum" to buy for us. Actually there was a guy that was a WWII war buddy of a freinds dad. He would buy for us, and we would let him use some of the money to buy for himself.
If you see a "Solo" cup, it more than likely has some alcohol in it. Unlike "Dixie" cup that are usually smaller, paper, and for kids parties, Solo cups are bigger, plastic, and do not shatter when they get dropped full of alcohol. Most high schools do not put a crashed car out front before prom, that is ridiculously BS. Most teens drive by at least 16, and many teens do drink anyway early on. Drinking and driving is serious though at any age.

It's very common for kids in the US to get a car the moment they turn 16. The morbid thought behind those crashed cars is to discourage young, stupid drivers not to risk killing themselves and/or someone else on prom night. We only had 300 students in our 7th - 12th grade school and I can probably name 5 to 10 students that died in car crashes during my six years there. Kids here drive more often, at a younger age, and farther distances than countries with mostly public transportation. They drive themselves and their friends to and from school. They drive everywhere when they're old enough, especially in rurual areas, like where I grew up. There were students that drove to school in their brand new cars and trucks, even before they had their license. I don't know if that still happens. My baby brother chauffered my grandfather around, running errands, when he was probably 12 years old. Rural American Gen Xers will probably recall similar things.
When I was taking Driver's Education at age 16 back in 1971, the school didn't do mock car crashes but they did show us films, one was named "Agony on the Highways". It was a compilation of gruesome police films of fatal accidents with mangled and dismembered bodies. It was quite sobering to our young eyes and really made us think. Sort of like shock treatment. In 1971 the legal drinking age in my state was 18.

My husband’s from Mississippi he says ma’am, sir, etc. And we’ve taught our daughter the same thing she is respectful she thinks military personnel, and first responders for their service whenever she sees them out in public she will go out of her way to go to them and thank them for their service. The drinking age at 21 is totally based on drunk driving in the US, and this is directly related to the US being a car centered society, which is why we have so many drive-throughs.

"Servers in the US make less than the minimum wage" - this is true, but they make more money than they would if they were paid an hourly wage. Servers make BANK off tips. My roommate used to come home with $100-$200 a night from serving tables. That's WAY more than he would have made if he got paid an hourly wage. (I think this is why they stopped paying servers a normal wage to begin with...because they were making too much money.) We used to be able to drink at age 18 before 1984. It was upped to 21 because so many kids were dying in fatal drunk driving car accidents and mothers were outraged. Make sense now?
The paying under minimum wage came about because of freed slaves in the USA. It had maybe begun in Europe earlier, but the practice lost popularity there. At least try to learn the history before throwing something on the wall to see if it sticks

When I was coming up we used red Solo cups at keggers, which were usually more than a little illicit. The party would charge like $5 a cup, which you wrote your name on and gave you unlimited access to the keg and whatever else, like pop or cocktails or whatever was going on. You might flash some weed and they'd comp you a cup, if you were gonna share. Some parties got wilder. I can remember once having my name spelled out on a small mirror as something everyone got at the door. If you brought a good short case of beer, or a couple of four packs of wine coolers, you were usually welcome at any strange party you heard, on just about any block, could be any night of the week. Just walk right up to the door, ask what's happening, and see how it feels. Maybe it's a birthday and you let it be, maybe it's a BBQ and you get an invite, maybe it's just some people being loud after work and you start a party that builds into the night. You never knew. Sometimes you hear from a friend of a friend that there's a "raging kegger," or a "rager," somewhere out in the middle of the forest, like turn here and left at the thing, and absolutely everyone would be there. Just a mad blast at like an abandoned cabin, big bonfire, music, kegs and liquor and pop chilling in a mountain stream. And everybody knew to bring something or contribute cash. Tons of fun. From high school until the big tech revolution, I remember pick-up parties you could find anywhere, all the time. Now it's mostly just college crowds, but it used to be all ages, kids dancing, folks with babies, older people with homemade wines and beer, puff puff pass, groups of people singing along with guitars or boom boxes, sometimes at the top of their lungs, always bumming each other smokes, no worries. Very different times.
I was a cheerleader (among 3 additional sports) starting at the age of 10 thru the age of 17. It wasn't just sporting events, we were competing and you have to be very athletic to toss each other in the air and catch them. Women and men actually get full ride scholarships for this sport. People who look at it like a sexualized event dont really know what goes into it.
It's definitely a legitimate sport. I think the outfits and sometimes suggestive dance moves is what sexuallizes it. It's completely unnecessary and for underage girls it's just sad and gross.

At my high school every year for the juniors and seniors they had a program called “Every 15 minutes“ where they had a drunk driving simulation where students acted out a crash and they brought totaled cars and you heard it from inside, and when you came out there were several kids covered in blood acting dead and mangled while cops arrested the “drunk driver”. I thought it was pretty cool
When you're singing a national anthem, you stand up for all the people that have died for that flag and remember all you people from Europe that come to America and get all this wonderful stuff. People died for it, so that's why we respect the flag
It's also been proven that alcohol is bad for a brain that is yet fully developed and that doesn't happen until your in your 20's. Kids drive far more in the USA then in the UK. Most kids at the age of 15 or 16 are driving everyday to school or work or to go other places in the evenings with friends

The "hood" must be the only place like that, because I've lived in pretty much every region of the country, from small towns to major cities, not to mention the numerous places I've visited nationwide and for the most part it's been the same everywhere... People smile back and often give a little nod of acknowledgment.

Smiling never came naturally to me but when I went to college I had to make an effort because when I don't smile I have resting-bitch-face. People thought I was mad or stuck up when I was usually just deep in thought about classes. It became second nature to have resting-smiling-face since I also knew resting-bitch-face would not go over well in the work-place environment.
So I’m in Florida and we smile at strangers as well. We open doors for one another will sit and talk to somebody for 2030 minutes at the grocery store that we don’t even know have a whole conversation laughing, etc. and we just met them five minutes ago! We hug people I think all in all as Americans we are very kind we have a lot of bad apples obviously there’s bad apples everywhere, but as a whole as American Americans, we are very engaging and loving and kind. I feel like people from other countries think that were horrible people and I wish that they wouldn’t think that because we’re not!
You know I’ve also seen people that are none Americans posting flags on their cars and homes. I have neighbors that do and it just shows how much of an impact the US is in the world? It makes me proud to be an American!
For the Car Crash seminar our school picked like 3 or 4 drama kids to be "involved." One was the driver and okay, one was a passenger who got badly hurt, and one was killed. They'd be absent from school like Monday and Tuesday, then like around Wednesday the "driver" had to act depressed and talk about the crash. He'd deliver lines about how wracked with guilt and how horrible he felt that one of his friends died and the other was in the hospital because he decided to drink and drive. "It wasn't even that far" was a common line. The school would act like this really happened and it was real. Like a memorial picture of the one who died with flowers and stuff in the cafeteria and spirit banners for the one in the hospital. Then at a friday assembly they revealed it was scripted with the car in the parking lot with fake blood and all that. The hurt girl would be brought in on a stretcher with makeup and casts to look messed up and have a speech about how her face/leg/arm will never be the same or that she lost a leg or whatever. Then the one who died would give a speech about all of the things he could have been in his life (a father, an actor, a husband, etc) if he hadn't gotten in that car. Then the Grim Reaper takes him away. It was always memorable. They did a great job. I hope it helped some kids make good choices. Why did they go all-out? Our principal's best friend died in a drinking and driving accident when he was 17. He had chosen to walk home himself because he didn't want to get in the car. His friend was driving. He took it SUPER seriously.
I always keep red Solo cups around. I don't drink alcohol; they're just super convenient for random drinks and snacks. They're cheap enough that you don't mind using a bunch for games or projects, and they save you from doing dishes. ☺️
Not all restaurants require the waitstaff to share their tips. It is either posted near the register about tips being shared, or you can ask if the tips are shared. Most restaurants where I live the waitstaff earns the tips and keeps the money that is left for them. Only one place that I know shares the tips and they have it posted. However, this one place is a smaller place, so everyone does nearly all the jobs.
I can attest to all of these. I live in North Carolina (SE USA). The friendliness of the South is real. The patriotism is real (for most ppl). I agree that the drinking age should be 18, but drunk driving is an issue, especially in more rural or even just less urban areas. I know of about 8-10 ppl I grew up with that have died due to drunk driving.
I lived in Alabama for almost a year in 2005. I’ve lived in California, Washington and Illinois before that. I have never been treated more rudely in my life. People started off friendly until they heard my lack of southern accent, and then it was a 180 change. “Y’all ain’t from ‘round here are ya?” was the tipping point. There was a small group of people in my husbands company that had moved down there at roughly the same time and we had to stick together. There was even a guy at the cell phone store that commiserated after asking me where I came from. There were some exceptions, and those people are to this day some of the warmest, kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. But the level of passive aggressive and straight up aggressive hostility blew me away.
In 1982 it got changed to 19 from 18 yrs old. I graduated high school in ‘81 drinking age was 18 for beer & wine and 21 for hard liquor. And in ‘82 my best friend had to wait a few months to turn 19 to be able to drink again when we went out. Then later on they turned it to 21 for everything. This was in CLT, Meck Co. ✌🏻 PS: NOPE! Drinking age should stay at 21. Back in the day we didn’t have cell phones in the car to distract us when half were driving drunk. So now people can’t even text and drive and you want them to be able to text, call and drive drunk? Call me old fashioned but… 🤷🏻♀️
Regarding "splitting tips," it depends on the restaurant, as well as the state or city regulations. When I was working as a server, I got to keep all of my tips, however I was required to give at least 5% to the bus boys (whose tips WERE shared collectively) and at least 5% to the bar tenders. Most servers would double that, in order to keep the bus boys and bar tenders happy, because they would work harder for your tips. Something else that most people aren't aware of is that as someone who relies on tips as part of your income, you have to report your tips to the government, so you can be taxed on your tip income. There used to be a federal law that required you to declare at least 8% (I think) of your sales for your day as tips, EVEN if you didn't average 8% in tips!

Where I live they don’t use “mock car crash” vehicles. They use ACTUAL CAR CRASH VEHICLES. Some didn’t even have ANYTHING to do with “drinking and driving!” I know this because my friend was driving his car home from work when he got into an accident and died. Another one of our friends was in the car with him and he died the next day. One of those companies came to my friends mom and asked if they could buy the car from her and use it for that exact reason. She was angry with the way that they did it but she sold it to them.
Also, our American anthem is pretty bad ass so of course we all know it. As a former waitress if you split your tips by tipping your bartender because they make your drinks quickly for you and then you also tip your bus boy for cleaning your tables fast for you and then you tip your host/hostess because they control who sits in your seating area. Those are all things to think about when you leave a tip for your server. As a server remembering to take care of your support staff really makes a difference in everything you do
I am just wondering what percentage of Brits know their national anthem and what percentage of Brits know our National Anthem. For some strange reason I wouldn't be surprised if more of them know the American Anthem then the words to their own.
Drive-thru banks, pharmacies, fast food restaurants are one of the latest contributionss to an ever increasing sedentary lifestyle in the US. Mail ordering clothes, furniture and other needs instead of going shopping. Groceries being delivered to your door rather than physically going to a grocery store is becoming an everyday occurrence. Heart disease is the number 1 cause of death in the US. Imagine that. 🙄
It's also because we're more inclined to not want to be around people as well. Some people are just really f-ing rude and entitled and you can't even set that straight because they'll whip out their phones and record your irritation and put you on blast and next thing you know you're the one labeled a "karen". Why the hell would some people want to be around that? So, yeah, we'll use whatever means we wish to so that we don't have to be around people. We're going to die any way. Might as well have some kind of peace if possible before that happens. 🤷🏻♀
Plus for the older people..aka..my husband has mobility issues. To walk down and get the mail is very painful for him. There is also the speed issue, if I have to wait in line for 2 items that is a pain and in my eyes a waste of time.
It's also school bands at school sporting events. College and high schools with football teams have marching bands that perform at halftime and go to competition. Basketball games often have pep bands.
Bruh, in New Mexico in USA, we have drive-thru cannabis shops! We can order whatever type of cannabis we like and then go to the drive-thru and pick it up! It is amazing! Flower, edibles, prerolls, vapes, whatever. You can get a cannabis soda and infused snacks too!
The local Speedway has 64 and 100 ounce travel mugs ( " Big Gulp") They make good lunchboxes. It's rare to see someone out in pajamas.. sometimes, late at Walmart, or Save-A-Lot..
Solo Cups at American parties, . . . you might find a Solo Cop filled with Sharpie permanent markers by the Solo Cups. They are there to write/draw/doodle an ID on your cup.
I am an american in the pa country and around her we wear blue jens a t shirt and boots. And I purfer ice cold sweet tea. I am a patriotic american I love my country and it's history and remember all who fight for this country past present. Stand for the flag for a moment of silence for the ones who didn't make back home and for their country so we all can be free.

Yes, we are a very car-centric culture. It's not as prevalent as it used to be. We used to have drive in movies. At convenience stores in the US, the actual drinks are very cheap, so when it's inventory time, the cups are counted instead of actually measuring the syrup in the canisters. Every carton of cups also has a certain number "complimentary" cups. These are so a soda or coffee can be given to police or firefighters. Encouraging the police or firefighters to hang out at your store tends to discourage robbers.
No, Simon is wrong about the anthem. If you don't stand, people near you might give you some side eye, but that's about it. The players work for the team and the league, and they are required to do what they are told. They don't have to sing along, but they do need to at least stand and should put their right hand over their heart. Nobody is getting in trouble in the stands.
The Solo cups are so blown out of proportion in other countries. When kids threw parties in High School (when they were clearly underage), they would throw together an alcohol concoction with fruit (often in a huge plastic trash can). They would then let the fruit soak in the alcohol. Every area in America probably has a different name for this. Where I’m from, it was called spodie (don’t spell check me on that, as I’m quite sure it is a made up name & I’ve never actually seen it written before). When the weekend came around, if nobody’s parents were out of town, or if there were no “cool” parents, the kids would find a remote area out of town for their party. The plastic cups were a cheap easy way to scoop up the fruity death drink. No real mystery & no second thought about the cups being used. An American country singer made a song called “Red Solo Cup”. Most likely, seeing them brought about some nostalgia from his younger years. There’s really nothing special about them.
Here in the US, there is a workaround for making sure that server keeps the tip you give them. Ask them if they split tips there. If they say yes, hand them their tip, and tell them its a gift, not a tip. I Do it all the time. Pissed off a couple managers like that but they legally cant do anything about it.
Gotta say, you do get across the Pond, you're probably not gonna wanna leave. We honestly overall are friendly and welcoming. Just gonna drop this nugget, many of us carry sidearms but it's to protect you as well as ourselves. MUCH LOVE!
Publix (grocery store) has drive-thru pickups for pharmacy. Tips, is one of the reason for cash to exist. When I was in school there was a flag in every classroom. You're an adult at 18, but you can't legally smoke or drink until 21. We had a rather gruesome presentation about drinking and driving when I was in the 10th grade. It also included seat belt use. One of the more graphic pics was a guy's heart that had been torn open in a crash. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt and that's what the steering wheel did to him when he hit it. Many cars didn't have airbags back then.
Regarding the tip issue, often enough the person who takes your order is not the same person who serves you the food, and rarely the person who removes your dirty dishes. So sharing tip is reasonable. Sharing with cooks, I think is rare. I worked in the hotel/resaurant industry for about 15 years (60 & 70's) and never heard of sharing tips with the kitchen staff, other than busboys.
The only time I have ever worn PJs outside of my house was first thing in the early morning 4am to walk down driveway to get mail. I think a lot of people confuse sweatpants and leggings for PJs. I hear this about Americans very frequently and rarely see it except for several occasions at Wal-Mart
Our national anthem is hard to sing unless you've got a voice like an opera singer. In school, we used to sing "God Bless America", which has great lyrics and is easy for anyone to sing. Also in school, every morning, we put our hands over our hearts and say The Pledge of Allegiance ("I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.")
I've worked in restaurants my entire life as a cook and we don't get tips. The servers don't have to share their tips with everybody, they tip out a certain percentage to the other employees that are making less than minimum like bussers and the bartenders that are making their drinks. They also all make way more than minimum wage after tips and most of them make more than the cooks. And something that you'll never hear anyone explain is that if for some reason in a week they make less than minimum wage the company has to reimburse them.
"How are you" is the modern version of "How do you do?" Where I'm from we us the contraction "Howdy." How do you do, became How d' y' do", which became Howdy do (yes that is where the TV show Howdy Doody came from), which finally became Howdy. Or "HOWDY DAMMIT" if you are an old Texas Aggie.
One thing to consider about drinks in America - most people want ice in their drink, even if it's the dead of winter and it's absolutely unnecessary. So, while we probably still do drink more soda than other countries, the bigger cup size is more to accommodate the ice.

That crashed car brought back a memory because I remember arriving by limo to my senior prom that wasn’t even at our school and they display a wrecked by dui vehicle right in front of the hotel with a sign saying something about party responsibly and don’t drink and drive or this is what happens! How messed up is that? But it gets through to some people.
Dont know if the UK has this like we do in America, but we've gone past drive-throughs. Don't even need to leave your home anymore. You can buy almost anything, including liquor, and have it sent to your front door. Can even get your prescription meds delivered like that. And for the stuff you can't order like that, we have companies like Uber, that the drivers will do your shopping, and bring it to you.
The week of my prom, our school hosted a "mock accident" with wrecked cars and "victims" played by students in the parking lot. They even went through the effort of landing a medical helicopter in the parking lot and flew some "victims" to the hospital. Ironically several of the students in the mock accident were arrested for DUI on Prom night.
I don't think Super Size has been a thing for decades, it's never been mentioned in my lifetime except on TV from the 70's or 80's. Tip splitting is NOT common, it's actually frowned upon. The tip you give is supposed to only go to the waitress or waiter that served you. Some towns? Every single school district I have ever heard of has the mock DWI crash. We bring in Mercy Flight and everything, one student ends up dying, at least two are critical.
They don't generally ask if you want to super size your order anymore, but you still can. Wendy's has the "biggie" size. As for the mock crash, that must be a newer thing. It never happened at any school I was at, and I had never heard of it until my kid scared the shit out of me with random photos of a serious looking car crash on her prom night. Didn't give me any context or anything, just sent me pictures, so I assumed they had been in the wreck. Lol
The grocery store where I live does delivery and curb side pick up where you call in or on line place your grocery order and then go pick it up and pay. They do the shopping around the store. The pharmacy has an outside walk up window for pick up of medicine and it is part of the grocery store. Convenience makes it so we can do so much more in a day.
Last year my son was 5 yrs old and he started the 4-6 yr old football team. They have cheerleaders for their team that were also 4-6 yr. My daughter is 12 and cheered last year and will be again this coming season but she has also been in gymnastics since 4. cheerleading & football starts as young as 3.

#10: in Texas I actually reply with a truthful recap of how I'm doing. When I moved to Florida I stopped doing that. The lesson: it depends where you are where some folks will actually care. #9: Cheerleading, when I went to public school I don't remember anything about cheerleading. However, it was a thing when I went to private school where the school's football team was extremely popular. #7: Only time I see folks wearing pajamas out in public was either at Walmart or (and more recently) at the airport. And at the airport the person was also wearing fuzzy slippers. I never saw anyone wearing pajama's at a university. #6: Smiling is a real thing, I actually found folks feeling insulted for not being acknowledged. I take it as a point of view to acknowledge a fellow human being -- eye contact, maybe a nod or a quick "hello." It's like a quick handshake. #5: Jumbo sizes: yeah, that's a thing. It is good to have choices, but it's also probably that it's cheaper to offer an extra large size rather than a smaller size and then get a refill on that smaller size. The extra large size you probably won't finish it, or you might finish the meal first and therefore leave the establishment before getting a refill. And in this way the establishment looks good by offering more choices, and of course since the competition is also doing it, probably safer to also do it. #4: Tips are getting tricky. They used to be a percentage you calculate yourself. Now they are either automatically added into the final bill, or you are offered a choice of either 15%, 18%, or 20% (or something to that affect). A few places add the tip to the final bill and still offer you a choice to add more tips. Then there's the issue of "should I tip when I'm just picking up and order to go?" #3 Red Solo cups -- really, we just use whatever it cheapest. Solo cups come in packs. There's also Dixie brand cups that are essentially paper cups that might have some sort of color pattern. Dixie and Solo compete against each other as a party cup. But a solo cup tend to be larger capacity. #1: Most high schools have a crashed car sitting at the lawns of their school? Not at any of the high schools I ever went to. Thing is the teenage years there's hubris that affect some teenagers more than others and next thing ya know they are out there drinking and driving. Teenagers are not the brightest at times and alcohol makes some folks braver, etc.
Yeeahhh here in the south for #10 it’s against the law lol. Obviously not really but it’s WELL known that if I don’t know you and you me, “how are you?” And “how’s it going?” Only have 3 acceptable answers(how you say them can vary but they have to stay close). 1-I’m good, 2-I’m here haha(yes throw a fake laugh in or real one doesn’t matter) or 3-just livin’ life/enjoy in the weather. Only time you can break that is if you can come up with something *relevant*, *worth smalltalking about* and/or *weather related*
Understand. Standing for 2 minutes during the National Anthem is the only tradition we Americans share in unison as citizens. The Flag has 50 stars representing 50 states. Some of us will do anything to protect this country, our family, friends, and neighbors. Many have died doing just that. Just as we respect those before us, we know those after us will continue. If the rest of the world thinks it's strange, so what? We got something they don't.... something to protect!
