I had to laugh about the bass invasion, because America (at least my part of it, Wisconsin) is battling an invasion of Asian Carp. I suppose that's a trade that neither one of us wanted.

11:41 this is why alot of people highly discourage exotic pets because people think they are cool to keep as pets but turn out that they are alot more high maintenance thus they released them without thinking twice about the reprecussion of releasing invasive species in place's where they don't belong

@@tommydeamon7657 Just be careful as Racoons are a carrier of Rabies. My niece worked with animal rescue and wildlife rehoming and only those with training and license were allowed to handle racoons because they carry rabies and need caution. A wild animal can not be trusted like a domesticated one. It takes a millennia to make animals trust worthy like cats and dogs. They are cute, but do be careful.

Most Americans don't buy or wear furs anymore because of cruelty of animals.

Plus, developments of fake fur that can outlast real fur, is often textually indistinguishable, can be infinitely more able to be customized, and is more affordable. A rare example of big business being able to do some good, both for us and the critters. Meat isn't something that can properly be faked. But... It's possible that it'll be able to be eventually grown from tissue samples, rather than needing to slaughter animals. Farmers and ranchers will still be around in the future. They'll just be doing things differently. I grew up on a farm, and absoutly hate having to deal with cattle. Give me the opportunity to grow steaks and hamburger and whatnot by maintaining a machine and I'll be happy.

The turtle is massive! Its the size of a large dinner plate with a cracked shell it was probably run over by a car or abused. There are no nonhuman primates in North America, apart from parts of southern Mexico. In North America, raccoons seem to be occupying any niches that smaller primates would otherwise occupy. They have very dexterous hands, but they lack thumbs. Despite this 'handicap', they do quite well, and have learned to open almost all of the trash containers that have been designed to keep them out. If they ever evolve thumbs, we're in deep, deep trouble. 😉

13:03 We do seem to have some crazy ass animals! I think Europe has been populated for so long everywhere that people eventually got rid of their crazy ass animals. The US hasn't had that much time and now we do things like conservation. The American Alligator was on its way out when it was saved by being labelled an Endangered Species, plus now it's farmed for the meat and skin so ironically it's made a big comeback. So have cougars and wolves. Too late though for the California Grizzly but there still are grizzlies in the northern states.

Real fur actually blocks the cold wind and traps your body heat in which faux is unable to do and that's why fur coats are still a thing regardless if you live somewhere cold enough to require real fur or not And that's why it's important that if you have a real fur coat that you take good care of it so it lasts as long as possible so you don't need a new one And no those big thick ass winter coats are not the same lol you'll understand if you ever have a chance to try both for a period of time in extremely cold weather

OMG! LOL! When you said "Oh, is that why? I never knew why they put black paint on their eyes! Is that why? It wasn't just for fashion, style. It actually helped." I about fell out of my chair. Raccoons are born that way. Their fur around their eyes is naturally black. They don't "paint" their eyes, nature does.🤣🤣🤣🤣 The reason racoons put their food in water isn't just to "clean" it. Or even mainly to clean it. Raccoons wash their food to enhance their senses of touch and taste, which helps them understand what they're eating. Raccoons rely on touch to identify food, and wetting their food can help them feel its texture and shape, detect foreign objects, and remove dirt and debris. Wetting their food can also make the skin on their paws more sensitive, which excites nerve endings and gives them more precise information about what they're holding. Studies show that raccoons are more likely to wash their food when it's dry or dirty, and less likely to wash it when it's wet or muddy

We have a boat load of raccoons here in Mn. Every night they climb onto the deck (no stairs to the ground) to eat the cat food left out for the outdoor cats (we live in the country). Have also had to start bringing in the hummingbird feeder at night as well as the suet block for the woodpeckers, or the raccoons will eat them all. I hear they fighting out there pretty much every night. It’s not a pretty sound. My mom has trapped a few and taken them to a nature preserve (along with a bunch of possums) as there are just too many, and they eat up all the cat food so the cats don’t get any, and climb all over the shed, getting into things. She just has to be careful not to take any females as we don’t know if they have babies this time of year. Also the fur trade is very much alive. While not as popular as it used to be, it’s still ongoing, altho I’m guessing the way they dispatch the animals has probably changed from 50 yrs ago. While I don’t necessarily like the practice, I see it no different than wearing various leather products made from cow and other animals. I just hope they utilize all the animal for something and not just the fur. That I don’t agree with. People just dislike it b/c fur animals look cute and cuddly. As another poster mentioned, if you live anywhere it’s really cold……..real fur will keep you warmer than synthetic. So I don’t see the end to the practice anytime soon as there is still a market for it. It’s not just for fashion, like what caused it to rise in popularity 50 yrs ago.

Raccoons on the other hand… there are hundreds of them and they’re sneaky and annoying. If you leave a water bowl out they like to wash their hands in it, then flip the bowl over. Not so cute when they tear their way into your house or growl and attack if you accidentally corner them. The babies are little cute balls of fur but, sadly, they grow up to be destructive and dangerous. They will also kill cats that they have previously eaten along side when they have babies and feel territorial to make sure they have enough food for their own babies. Keep your cats inside and do not encourage wild animals to come up near your home or animals please.

When I was 30 I used my mother’s mink coat to go to a really fancy function in the winter. Never wore it again, I felt like a bear! We have wonderful fabrics now, we don’t need fur. All furs must be stored properly to stay supple. Generally that means you must pay for a temperature controlled facility🤦🏻‍♀️

You should care whether the coat you're getting is fake fur or real fur. ALWAYS choose the fake fur. There are plenty alternatives to any animal product, including food.

A large mouth bass can eat most things they can fit in their mouth, and their mouth is huge compared to their body

I had red-eared turtles as a pet, when I was a kid. Yeah, they go after small animals. We used have two chihuahuas. I guess one of the had gotten too close to their tank. Soon enough, we only had one and yet one very large turtle!!!

We have a fish introduced to Southern Maryland called Snakehead. Tastes like chicken 😂❤ if you catch it, you can not release it.

In the US, the English brought the Red Fox for sport, which is still present, and has out-competed many of the local species. The Rabbit was introduced to Australia by the English, and is a problem there. Lots of this stupidity has gone on in the past and, unfortunately, still goes on because of the "pet" market.

I'm coming over to get our crawfish back! I love to eat them. The racoons should take care of them until I get there. Racoons love them.

Turtles - if there are no natural predators for them they would strip all the vegetation away and change the balanced ECO system that is currently in place. It is called the circle of life.

I have a family of raccoons in my "unused" space.. house started life as a trailer.... so putting a peaked and shingled roof left space between the old roof and the new one.... their nest or den is right above my bedroom, so i usually know when they're active or raising kits or even having problems (like finding enough food in winter) because im so used to the different sounds they make.... I love my trash pandas lol.... we intentionally leave food for them in winter like catfood mixed with last night's dinner scraps.... their FAVORITE lol.... they ADORE wet cat food mixed with chicken or turkey scraps 🦝.... Weirdly.... anyone who has been to mammoth caves in Kentucky, if you stay in the motel with sliding doors that back up to the woods..... saltwater taffy.... the office used to run specials on it.... the raccoons will literally come and knock on the glass door and beg for taffy.... you pull a bit out and dangle it.... they pull off as much as they want and wander off to share with friends lmao 🤣

Raccoons wash foods and objects, because the water softens the skin on their hands, allowing them to feel the objects better. It's a combination of enjoyment of tactile sensations and curiosity.
