It’s a click sound in the Xhosa language and is one of the 11 languages of South Africa. The language is spoken in Black Panther, it’s also Nelson Mandela’s and Trevor Noah’s native language.

The first noise that opens the song is called "ululating" and is common to African songs. This woman is awesome as a singer. See how the audience leaps to its feet and stays there the whole time.

It's one of the clicks in the Xhosa language. They're actual consonants, like c q and x.

I am from Jamaica and very much fascinated with different cultures and languages. I learned Spanish and Persian and now I am learning IsiZulu (Zulu) and the letters C, Q and X are pronounced with clicks. Although she speak Xhosa the pronunciation of those letters are the same. C sounds like sucking something from upper front teeth. The Q sounds like one would make if telling the sound a cork make when being pulled from a bottle. The X sounds like what you make when expressing regret or spurring on a horse.

She covered a song by the legendary late Miriam Makeba. The name of the song is Qongqthwane (a.k.a the click song) The clicks are actual words of a language called Xhosa in South Africa. Siki Joanne killed it. Loved the reaction!! 🙂

Miriam Makeba Qongqothwane (Click Song). Look her up listen too her sound when she sings and then you will understand why... If I remember (sang it in Children's Choir so it's been a while forgive me) the song's story is about the little dung beetle helping children find the way home when the sun starts setting.

Wow... What an opening n amazingly incredible song by Siki it was! Though I don't understand any single word of African native language but I love it very much. It really captivated me. Thanks for d reaction. From Medan, North Sumatera - Indonesia loving native language songs.

If you can lookup the song... Sounds of Africa/ Bawo Thixo Somandla. The song has the bush sounds, rain and thunder that the choirs have too make as it's part of some of the versions of the sheet music.

Sorry, I might have enjoyed your reaction more if I could hear the singer. Your sound balance is off. Your vocal is loud and the singer is too soft to hear.
