Meet the REAL Avi Kaplan!! This is the music he was holding deep inside him during his last couple of years in Pentatonix. Now, I loved Avi in the group (and still love Pentatonix), but Avi's solo music, as well as the stuff he did with his former side group The Sequoias, is just next level off-the-charts amazing!! As sad as his departure was, he NEEDED to leave to be able to unleash this incredible music on the world!
He's simply outstanding and has one of the most unique, beautiful voices I've ever heard. And he's still very much underrated as solo artist. Thx for your reaction.

All of Avi’s solo music is incredible 🔥🔥🔥 He is pretty eclectic . No matter what mood you’re in, Avi has a song for it. Full Moon and Fields and Piers(Avriel and the Sequoias)are very relaxing. Get Down and Born in California along with Change on the Rise are energizing. A Song for the Thankful, Quarter Past Four(Avriel and the Sequoias), I’ll Get By and It Knows Me are inspirational. I have no idea where to put this. Avi Kaplan has released a new song a couple of weeks ago. If you are unaware many of his songs deal with mental health. This new one is particularly direct. "First Place I Go" another good one with this theme is "I'll Get By ".
Avi is the man of a thousand voices and styles. Every one of his originals, as different as they can be from each other, are linked by an almost indescribable feeling of rightness. As if they've always been and only needed the right voice. He also does the absolute best cover of The Animals song House of the Rising Sun. Blows the CCR version most people know and love clean out of the water!

This was Avi's battle song after struggling with depression....It is ALL Avi...no drums just the layering of his voice and those deep deep bass notes that sound like a drum...especially after he sings the words "We're going strong" BOOM that's him lol. Avi said apart from the use of an organ in one part and the clapping it's all him. amazing cinematography too. Filmed from his home and woodlands. Hi. Haven't seen you in comments in awhile. The severe burnout from Pentatonix touring schedule that Avi described as why he had to leave is now being dealt with industry wide. @@justlinsu physically I am fine but very bored as an older person "staying safe at home in quarantine" for over a year now. I did get vaccinated so soon now hopefully things will be less restricted.
@@firstact5704 the remarkable thing about Avi is how open and direct he is. No speculation needed. He tells you himself. It usually takes reactors awhile to get to the story of why Avi left and how. He finished the current tour they were on in 2017 and left at the end of it. Production note - the fireplace is in his living room and the outdoor scenes are on his property outside of his cabin in the woods of Tennessee near Nashville in an area where several other celebrities live as well. The "I'll Get By" video was filmed there as well and a few other informal acoustic ones such as "Born in California" done and released during quarantine. Avi was one of my quarantine research projects to keep from going crazy during lockdown. 🙂
Glad to see you back This is a good song to start with for Avi by himself. He like other artists has been having a very difficult time during the pandemic having to cancel tours and recording sessions. He did manage to release a quite different song using animation recently from quarantine, "Song for the Thankful". "Change" is the theme music for the weekly podcast Relative Unknown. Yes he is a bit like Keanu Reeves they are both introverts to start with. For Avi I would suggest Aberdeen (small town in California not Scotland) or I'll Get By On less well known artists Larkin Poe is my favorite. American blues. Try "She's a Self-made Man" or "Back Down South". Nashville definitely seems to be the place to be right now. Besides Avi and Larkin Poe a couple of the Homefree guys live there and Austin Brown has put out some original music on his own. "Off the Grid" or "If I Met You Now". None of the above are acappella. Another artist I like is Rag N Bone Man his "Anywhere Away From Here ft Pink" is quite good. Hope that helps

Well Larkin Poe are not just starting out but they are brilliant musicians and singer-songwriters. "Mad as a Hatter" is a particularly personal one to them.
Love all Avi's music. It's deep, soulful and his voice is warm(damn near hot it's so warm) and mesmerizing. Newer artists, suggest Teddy Swims, Lawrence, and Chris Stapleton. Please, more Avi though.

Great reaction to a great song. I'm not sure what this genre is. American Folk maybe? Or Americana, if there is even a difference. To me it sounds very macho and tribal, which probably broadens it's scope. I could see Scottish highlanders sing this.
I think you would like Voice Play & Geoff(jeff) Castallucci their bass singers channel. Also check out Marwan Ayman from The Bass Group. He's a high schooler who has an amazing voice & vocal range.

@@firstact5704 as do I. I find myself thinking after watching a film how much was actually improvised. Some director's are SO good with letting actors go off script..others not so much.
