This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Nightwish is actually one of the most reacted-to bands - and the Nightwish army is always hungry to vicariously relive their first time hearing their songs, so the demand is there. Many reaction channels actually get started with Nightwish, which is kinda interesting.

Band from Finland, started 1996 but current vocalist Floor Jansen is Dutch, living in Sweden and married to Hannes van Dahl. Drummer of Sabaton (swedish) then there is Troy Donockely from the UK. He is not seen in rhis song.

For us Brits. Nightwish work to a click track pre-recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Metro Voices Choir and the London Young Children's Choir. They have played Wembley Arena several times and fill it to full capacity. They have a massive catalogue full of great songs, a massive rabbit hole to dive down. You will also find side tunnels that lead to other great bands like Epica, Ayreon and Sabaton. Plus side projects. Finding Floor Jansen (singer, Dutch) and the band got me through lockdown. Hopefully you will follow up on them and enjoy them as much as I have. Check out Romanticide next from the same concert. You will find no two songs of theirs are the same.

A couple of years ago I had never even heard of this band, my youngest son suggested I give them a try, loved it from day one. Metal, with symphony, with the best female singer ever to grace a stage.....best band on the planet.

Nightwish has many talented members in it. Tuomas Holopainen is called "Metal Mozart" due his insane songwriting skills that utilizes all the skills of his band. And everyone gives their all in these performances, making these songs come together seamlessly. And when Floor came in after Anette Olzon she had to memorize the current tours' setlist in 48 hours. There's an documentary about it as well. She came and she conquered the tour. Floor is classically trained singer and it shows. Those long notes, belting, growling and strong vocals hinge on her great control of her diaphragm. You can see the proof of control in the way how she makes it seem so easy to hold those powerful long notes, she's actually smiling through the whole song. There's also a solid reason why she's referred as the Valkyrie Goddes of Metal, and it's not only her voice but her ability to control the stage with her mere presence. Just look how she calls her forces forth and they answer.

The ultimate reason why I kept listening to them was the horns, cellos, violins, pianos combined with the metal instruments that created this bombastic, cinematic sound. While I respect all the singers and people listening because of them, I often listen to the instrumental versions because then you truly appreciate all the little details they poured into these songs.

I discovered Nightwish in early 2019, and this Texas guy fell in love with Nightwish! ( and yes, I am a big, Tall Texas man standing 6'6" or 1.99 meters tall...and weigh in at 290 lbs. And 66 years old! ) Nightwish is, without a doubt, the best band I have had the pleasure of listening to in all my years! They are that good!

Nightwish Army Finland here. A very nice reaction! Just Nightwish doing Nightwish things! And as you have surely noticed, although they are all outstanding , none of them standout 😍 Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics. I saw them live at Wembley in November 2022 and it was the most amazing unforgettable experience. Because so many US-reactors compare Nightwish with Evanescence I listened to this band. No, Evanescence is not at the same level as Nightwish; Nightwish are their own genre with an ocean of excellent music and Floor is the most versatile female singer I have ever heard, with a phenomenal voice and stage presence. She can sing all from opera to death metal growls and all in perfection. And whatever she sings she touches your heart and soul deeply. All members of the band are outstanding artists playing for the song instead of showing off - no egos on stage. And they all love what they are doing - and each other. By the way, a lot of Nightwish songs sound cinematic because Tuomas (on keyboards), the composer and writer of the lyrics of most Nightwish songs, loves soundtracks (especially of Hans Zimmer) and Disney. And you asked for Wacken: This is a small village (about 2000 inhabitants) in Northern Germany with a lot of cattle; therefore the symbol of Wacken Open Air is the burning bull's head. One time every year for about four days this big metal festival takes place there, normally with about 85.000 visitors. At this concert there had been about 82.000 visitors in the audience.

Grew up on Cream, Eric Clapton, Beatles, Stones, Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler etc. Nightwish is the best band and the most fun music I've found in over 30 years. Them music is welcoming and comforting as the band slays ya with some great metal and some rock. Their lyrics cover the sea, mans history and place on Earth and so much more. No two songs are alike and every song is like a journey or a story with many chapters. I see Gabriel has responded to your reaction. We call Gabriel the General of the Nightwish Army. I love everything by Nightwish. But this song in particular. This is a goosebumps feeling! Absolutely! For me, Tuomas, who composes the songs, is a genius. And yes, Floor's voice is amazing!

At this time, Floor was still the stand-in vocalist, having helped the band when their previous one was released half way through their American tour. Even as the stand-in singer, she had the crowd of 82,000 + in the palm of her hand. Not long after this she was asked to join the band as their permanent singer. Floor is THE VOICE.

Tarja was the most operatic and darker vocal sounds (original NW singer), Anette brought a brighter voice and more pop style which turned off many people since the style was so different even if she was amazing, then Floor brought it back to a darker sound. All incredible singers. Floor is probably the most versatile though

Vous venez de faire connaissance du métal symphonique et de notre reine Floor, mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We just had our annual Tuska-festival weekend in Helsinki. Tuska means pain or agony, and it's a metal music festival. At the same time we always have Pride march, so whole town is dressed in black and/or rainbows. What is curious is that Tuska is the festival where there's the least amount of disturbances, violence or such. I hope you consider adding at least one Tuska-day in your future trip to nordic countries.

I became a huge fan of theirs many years ago. I only have one album, but I've listened to it countless times in the car for at least a decade. They're unique and so ridiculously talented. Epic is the word I use to describe them, as well. They're the kind of band you wanna blast on loud speakers and turn the bass up. I recommend... well, anything by them. You literally can't go wrong with their work, even when doing covers.

Top notch quality performance if you ask me!😃 Sadly I haven't been able to see them live yet to but I will, believe me!🤘 Every song of theirs is a journey of it's own. I'm actually enjoying myself by going through their catalogue of music. (It's was the same thing when I discovered Sabaton a few years ago. A lot of catching up but a lot of fun at the same time). Floor Jansen (lead singer) is from the Netherlands, living in Sweden, singing in a metal band from Finland, married to the drummer of the Swedish metal band Sabaton... 😉🤘 And yes, she is a trained opera singer.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch.
