Fried green beans! They're so good. Nice and crisp and fresh still (in other words, not mushy and grey) and with a little crispy exterior. So good, not gross at all. Yum! Also, I've noticed now in a couple of your videos that sliced roast beef and pastrami don't look appealing to you. Give them a try, I bet you'll love them. They are cooked, they just look more pink than what you're expecting. They are wonderfully delicious seasoned cuts of beef that I think you'll enjoy if you like burgers. Haha!
Texas toast is double thick bread toasted and buttered, the black stuff going into the shake was probably crushed Oreos. Krystal burgers are usually bought in multiples and have pickles, onions and mustard and are steamed to bring out the flavor more. Biscuits and gravy are served in cups/plates with spoons or forks depending where bought to eat them with. The roast beef looks pink but is cooked more than you would think and is very good.
@@barbaramelone1043 Yeah, it could have been anything chocolate or even some blackberry puree or other dark fruit! Who knows it could even be a coffee blend they put almost everything possible in them now.
@@justawhisperintheuniverse8257 I think it was Jack's. It's one of the southern fast food places that does burgers, fried chicken and breakfast. Very good food for the prices we really like going there.
If your roast beef is solid brown instead of pinkish, it is overdone and dry as cardboard. Do not eat cardboard children. Roast beef is different than beef roast. One is a sliced deli meat, the other is slow cooked in the oven with juices/broth/soup and veggies, so it isn't dry.
Blake’s Lotaburger is great! They serve breakfast burritos in the morning and burgers all day. I absolutely love their burgers. I would consider them “old fashioned” burgers, the patties are thin and well seasoned, the chile is fresh tasting. My order: a double meat Lotaburger with cheese and green chile add grilled onions, a large seasoned fries and an unsweetened ice tea. Sooo good. They are all over the place in New Mexico, but I haven’t encountered them outside of it.
I’m originally from Albuquerque New Mexico, the place that puts green chilies on burgers, it’s Lotaburger. It’s so delicious, but it’s even more famous locally for their breakfast burritos with green chiles . We eat green chiles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We even put chiles in our ranch and on our pizza.
Ohio here, Skyline Chili is a great/terrible hangover cure. They do have jacket potatoes but we just call them baked potatoes. Many restaurants offer them with a variety of toppings.
This is how pickles are provided in most places here. They are typically kosher dill pickles and should be a bit crunchy/firm, not soft. In NYC delis and others, you will get a whole pickle or a bucket full of them as part of the meal.
the burgerville side you asked about looks like battered fried asparagus. the true burgerville treat - only available for a limited time each year, is their Walla Walla onion rings. also, what you call a jacket potato, we call a loaded baked potato.
As an Arizonan I recently tried Burgerville for the first time when visiting family in Oregon and left thoroughly jealous that it’s only in the Pacific NW 😅 Place is delightful
In the Oregon segment, those look like either deep fried green beans or asparagus. They’re coated in batter and then fried and are delicious. Dick’s Drive-In here in Washington State makes their fries fresh, not frozen. In the video you can see an employee using the machine to slice the potatoes, ready to fry. Dick’s is unusual in the fast food industry as they pay employees $20.00 an hour, it can be half that at other chains, and is well above minimum wage. They offer flexible scheduling for students so they can attend classes. They also have health and dental insurance, paid vacation, 401(k) retirement fund matches, discounted food, educational scholarships, and compensate for volunteer work in the community. In one segment where the employee was preparing to make a milk shake and you wondered what the dark substance was about to be added, it could have been crushed Oreo’s cookies or hot fudge sauce, the same as would be used on a sundae. When I go back home to visit in Michigan it’s Culver’s time! They originated In Wisconsin but have expanded into other states. The butter burger is awesome and so are their shakes!
As a man from Indiana, lemme tell you something: Steak and Shake... it is not just "fast food". It is a family style diner that you visit for that nostalgic throw back. It is a clash of the days between the 50s diner experience, the amazing amount of food you experienced in the 90s, and that special time in your childhood when you were with your parent, ordering a meal while the cook stood at the griddle flipping burgers on extra-large spatula.
Wawa is everywhere here in PA. They are more of a gas station/convenience store than fast food. They do serve food all day though. Its alright quality. The big kicker is they are open 24/7. So at 3:30am when you are hammered and no food place is open. You can walk down to the corner Wawa and grab a fresh hot sandwich or quesadilla. They also sell grocery items. Mostly eggs/milk/bread as you saw. They are also 100% employee owned. Working there for a long period you wind up getting shares in the company. I've known people who worked there career and retired millionaires.
a secret (well not so much a secret here in the states) to getting fresh hot fries is to order with no salt *due to your health* . they will have to make you fresh fries because they always salt them, add your own salt afterwards
Tommy's Burger Stop in Anchorage, Alaska really is beloved by locals. My family have been eating there for 25+ years. The burgers are so thick and juicy and the fries are crispy. I was glad to see a place that truly is local and really good on the list.
06:15 Texas toast is a toasted bread that is typically made from sliced bread that has been sliced at double the usual thickness of packaged bread. Texas toast is prepared by spreading butter on both sides of the bread and broiling or grilling it until it is a light golden brown. Commonly, garlic is added to the butter, yielding a form of garlic bread. The toast may include cheese on one or both sides, similar to an open-faced grilled cheese sandwich. (Wikipedia)
You've probably seen the meme about Chick-fil-A having "The Lord's Fries." For fast food, there is no one that holds a candle to Chick-fil-A. The workers are outstanding (I've heard stories of friends going up to the drive through in a sad state, and the worker would freely add in a lemonade or shake, because "she looked like she needed it."). In the roaring hot of Georgia (it's 91F here at the moment), or the freezing cold, they'll stand outside taking orders before you get to the ordering spot to make the lines go faster. Not exactly fast food, but you have to eat at Waffle House if you visit Georgia, too.
Do Brits, not know how to share? A large sub is normally for more than one meal or more than one person. Most people aren't sitting there eating a whole 24" sub by themselves. What?! 😲😆
Also I should mention you can get Steak and Shake from a drive-through but it’s more of a sit down diner.. if you get it through a drive-through be prepared to wait like 20-40mins to get your food (counting the speed it takes the line to move.)
I don’t know if I missed this but I’m super curious-do you cook? You could easily do hamburgers and hotdogs at home. At least you’d get a taste of what you’re craving before you come over here. You seem to be hungry all the time! From a worried Georgia granny. 😊
We've had 6 foot party subs( an Italian sub) usually at kids birthday parties or at a super bowl party, etc... which they cut up and fed 15 to 20 people which we get potato chips & a few gallons of sweet tea or assorted soft drinks. ❤😋
KFC is the absolute worse chicken in the US. Popeye's spicy chicken is phenomenal. Dunkin' Donuts doesn't have burgers. What you saw was a breakfast sandwich with a sausage patty. Wawa's is one of my favorite places to grab a quick meal.
Schoop's in Indiana, you asked what was on the plate with the burger. Those are called hash browns. Grated potatoes that are cooked usually on a flat grill or in a frying pan with a bit of oil & butter. They are more commonly served with breakfast. And they are served in pattie form at fast food. They can be bought in grocery stores in both forms, frozen.
I am from NC and this video was spot on about Bojangles. It has one of the best chicken biscuits ever. The biscuit with the blueberries is called the Boberry biscuit. The cinnamon twist is also very good and I highly recommend that you order both of these with extra frosting. Here is a tip: if you by chance go to an American McDonald's order a sausage egg mcmuffin or a sausage egg and cheese biscuit put the hashbrown on it. It's amazing.
Yes, we Do have "jacket potato" known here as a Baked Potato...and they can be topped with anything you love....and yes again, we Love Mac and Cheese...Another fun video and reactions, lol...!!!...Oh, and those little mini burgers you see here are absolutely delicious...
09:23 Submarine sandwich. Usually they cut it up & sell the pieces separately (6 inch or footlong). I have eaten footlong subs. Anything bigger is a party sub - specially ordered & served to many people.
07:37 Breakfast sandwich. McDonald's started the trend with the "Egg McMuffin" Usually a sausage patty (or bacon) fried egg & cheese on a muffin or croissant.
I live in Oregon and the green item from Burgerville is battered dipped Asparagus. It is amazing!!!! They also make the best fish and chips. I used to work for them and they have great food.
Texas toast is basically just white bread but about twice the thickness of a regular slice of white bread. I'm originally from Wisconsin and, yes, Culver's is the best fast food chain, in my opinion! I currently live in Michigan and I think Leo's is pretty good, but I really like this other smaller chain of restaurants that serves large portion at low prices, and the waitresses are fast and friendly.
I love In-N-Out! My go to order is a double double protein style(lettuce wrapped) mustard fried with grilled onions. Mustard fried is mustard on the burger before it’s fried. Chefs kiss.
As a TN native, I'm a little shocked they mentioned Krystal as our best restaurant. That's not even close to true. They're okay maybe once a decade or so. But nothing to go crazy over. I'd place Five Guys a million miles ahead for great burgers and fries. You also can't go wrong with Cook Out.
@@AJvsEverything Doesn't matter. The topic of the video wasn't the best restaurant originating in the state. It was simply the best ones here. A lot of those restaurants from other states are all over the country.
@johnnycliche4226 Who cares? The subject of the video is what is the best fast food joint in the state. Doesn't matter if that state didn't invent it. It's like asking what's the best car in America and I say Ferrari. But that's made in Italy. Yeah. And it's sold in America. So it's the best car available in America in my opinion.
Cincinnati Ohio here. You weren't paying much attention during Ohio but I can verify that SKYLINE is the BEST and very addictive. People who move away have Skyline cravings and need a fix when they come back to visit. A 3 way is spaghetti, chili, & cheese with oyster crackers. 4-Way, add onions. 5-way add beans. Also popular are the coneys, bun, wiener, chili, & cheese. Or add onions. Or beans. All I have to do to wake up my retired husband is to say "Skyline." His eyes pop open and he gets dressed and is out the door, waiting in the car for me, honking the horn.
4 way can be either beans or onions 😉. Order it "dry" so they drain more water off the spaghetti. Coneys with mustard on the dog, then the chili, topped with onions! and there is an eternal battle between Skyline and Goldstar for Cincy's fave!
I am from North Carolina and can definitely vouch for Bojangle's, as long as you catch a good location at a good time; I've found their food tends to be better (hot/fresh) if you go at a peak meal time when they are busy, or else you might get fries or chicken or biscuits that have just been hanging out for longer than they need to be....love their sausage biscuits, fries, sweet tea, my plan B is chicken supremes (boneless tenders), their classic fried chicken is good too, but it and the supremes have a little kick, some people love the steak biscuit, chicken filet biscuit (fried or grilled), Bo-Berry biscuit, especially if they cover it with more icing, certain locations have the Cheddar-Bo, which is a cheese biscuit......other places in this list I LOVE are Zaxby's (chicken tenders, crinkle fries, sweet tea), Chick Fila (chicken nuggets, waffle fries, sweet tea), Culver's (triple butterburger, it's not on the menu but if you ask, they have it, fries, sweet tea), Biscuitville (sausage biscuits, fries, sweet tea), KFC (boneless tenders, potato wedges or mashed potatoes, biscuit, sweet tea), Dairy Queen (love the plain vanilla cone or the Oreo Blizzard, and they also serve burgers, hot dogs, fries, but I would prefer to have a meal at one of these other places then go to DQ for dessert.... Freddy's (about like Culver's but have only been once and had to wait a while, good burger and fries but fries are so small), I can't say I love it, but it's a good place....those i'm kind of indifferent on are Waffle House (the locations closest to us don't serve fries anymore, just hash browns so that's a no for me), but the burgers are probably still good, Sonic (cannot eat inside, either get food to go, eat outside at picnic tables, or eat in the car), Steak & Shake (burgers ok but the fries are the size of matchsticks, they make McDonald's fries look large, and Popeyes (the biscuits are good but very small, the chicken & fries are too spicy for me, we ordered the mild instead of the spicy, if what I tasted was the mild, I sure don't want to try the spicy).....just don't like them as much as the others listed; cannot give them a full endorsement like the others listed, oh one more thing about Sonic, they do have the best ice....don't waste your money on it if you're buying ice to dump into a cooler to chill a bunch of sodas, BUT if you're serving sweet tea or lemonade where the ice will be in the cups with it, SONIC HAS THE BEST ICE YOU CAN BUY........This list also includes a number of places I've heard of and would like to try like Raising Cane's, Whataburger, In-N-Out Burger, and I also spotted a few places I wouldn't mind trying like Slim Chickens, Boise Fry Company, Al's French Frys, and Shake Shack
I visit Arizona to see family. The last trip, I ate Filibertos on three different days of a 6 day trip. One of those days, I ate there twice. Breakfast burritos, and then again for dinner. Albuquerque NM has a different Filibertos but very similar. It's hard to tell but somehow they stem from the same family even though they are actually different (but not too different). I eat at that one constantly when I visit ABQ. My friend I stay with there rolls his eyes. But on the other hand, he *lives* there and he's happy going as often I want anyway.
I am from California and it's true that if you go to In N Out anywhere in the state, you're going to have to wait in a fairly long line to place an order. But the #1 food, in Southern California at least, is Mexican. There are local fast food Mexican that are very good. Sombreros and Cotijas are two that come to mind. But there are independent small restaurants all over the place where you can get authentic Mexican food that tastes great! I live in a suburb of San Diego, and I can think of at least 4 Mexican restaurants within a mile of my house.
Texas toast varies from place to place originally these thick slices of bread were toasted on the grill along side your steak and loaded with melted butter, sometimes with garlic melted into the butter. The first Texas toast I had was French or Italian bread quarters. The big subs are usually party subs for groups. Mac and cheese has as many variations as burgers and fries unless you just don't like the texture or don't like melted cheese you just haven't tried the right one.
Dunkin’ sells breakfast sandwiches Texas toast is a double thick piece of toasted bread. If they’ve done it up right then they’ve added garlic butter to it
In and out is incredible. My daughter is gluten intolerant so the protein burger is the perfect burger for h.her but the double double is so incredible because everything on the burger is totally fresh from the never frozen meat to the fresh cut fries. And there is as secret menu that you can find on line and you need to get some of the.their secret menu items.
@@Gizmo42Rodeo I heard the hype for years and was so excited to finally try it when one opened near me. It was ok, but nothing more. I still don't get what people see in it.
hack: If you order fries from McDonald's, order your fries with no salt or lightly salted. That usually requires them to make a fresh batch. This works at least where I live in the U.S.
I'm from alaska and live in Canada now. It's not fast food, but every true Anchorage, Alaskan folk will tell you, that there's on one place to go, for their pizza. They only have one location in anchorage, and their pizza is soooooo good, they have always refused delivery. They've been around for 30 years now, and there'salways an hour long line up, and that's on a slow day. Number 1 pizza when I had it in 2003, is the steak chipotle pizza. I didn't think I'd like sour cream on my pizza and drink a pitcher of a golden IPA, but it turns out I do enjoy that. At one point Mooses tooth pizza was ranked 3rd best pizza joint in all of America. 😁
Big subs are often ordered and taken home as party food for a group of people. Also you can put green chili on a lot of things but yes...very good on a cheeseburger. Unfortunately chilis won't grow in the UK climate. Peppers like these need hot dry summers. In fact, Hatch chilis grow only in Hatch New Mexico. Jacket potatoes are called baked potatoes.
Most fast food places have a place where you can sit down and eat it there. You don't get served, so you go up to the counter to get your order, and find your own seat. But they almost never have real dishes, and it is always stuff you throw into the trash, so there are no dishes to ever clean. I have also lived in Minnesota and Dairy Queen use to have really good burgers there, but now they are just OK. My wife & I went to DQ recently to get their special - $7 for a cheese burger, fries (which are excellent), a drink (free refills), and an ice cream desert with a topping - we always get hot fudge - so good! None of the Dunkin' Donuts have burgers out west, so what you saw was probably just in Massachusetts. Texas toast is just very thick toast. We have In-N-Out, DQ, and Sonics here in AZ. In-N-Out is by far the best!
i'm from Massachusetts and yes, we LOVE our Dunkin' Donuts over here! i wouldn't say it's my favorite fast food place since they only really serve breakfast, but they're definitely my go-to for breakfast sandwiches and especially coffee. and they're extremely convenient too, since there are TONS of them in Massachusetts! :)
Raised in Arizona but currently live in LA. UK pickle and US pickle can be quite a surprise when visiting each other. Your pickle is in the form of what we refer to as pickle relish, or picalilli, or chow chow. Our pickles are whole pickled cucumber, or sliced into spears or coins. And Filiberto's is ok. Really, it's main attraction is that it's open super late at night. I weep for you, young one, that you've never had a burrito. It's a crime against humanity. Even better than a burrito is a chimichanga. A.deep fried burrito. But it doesn't have the texture of fish and chips, or fried chicken, or any other batter dipped fried food, because it isn't dipped in batter. You put your chosen fillings into the tortilla and roll it up neatly, tucking in the ends. Then the whole thing gets put into hot oil until the tortilla is crisp and.lightly golden. My friend from Glasgow still dreams about the one chimichanga he had here in California. The "loveliest thing I've ever tasted.".
Yk what videos i think you'd enjoy if you havent done it yet, is the comparison between fast food chains from the States vs UK. They dive into the portion sizes, pricing, what's on the menu that the other country doesn't have
Texas Toast is a type of bread that's cut REALLY thick. Oh, and the really long sub is usually to be shared at parties. Not battered peppers, those are tempura green beans and they are yummy.
It's not supposed to be like normal chili. I've been eating it my entire life and have only seen one person eat just the chili by itself...against my recommendation not to and was his first time eating Skyline. It is more of a sauce to put on spaghetti noodles and/or hot dogs. One of the things I've found is most people who didn't grow up in Cincy don't know how to eat it properly. You NEVER mix up the chili, spaghetti and cheese. You also never twirl it like spaghetti with a fork. You use a fork and chop bites out it like you would a pie. I know it sounds weird but it totally changes the way it tastes.
As an Arizonan, I can assure you that a California burrito at 1am from a Filiberto’s is pretty much god-tier. I prefer it over the Arizona burrito Carne asada steak, French fries, guacamole, melted cheese, pico de gallo and sometimes grilled onions wrapped up in a toasty tortilla… A side of sour cream is a must 🤤🤤🤤
7:36 That wasn’t a burger- I assure you Dunkin’ doesn’t sell burgers 😆 That was a sausage breakfast sandwich on an English muffin Dunkin’ has a range of breakfast wraps, breakfast sandwiches, etc
Best hamburger that I ever had was at Black Bear Diner and I had the Shasta burger. Thick, juicy patty seasoned beautifully. All of their food has been great. If you come to California then check out this spot
I work at In N Out so I eat a burger literally everyday. I used to love getting my burger protein style. The snappy texture was what I liked the best but I’ve grown to prefer the bun
Marylander here - thrashers is a boardwalk thing on the coast by Ocean City - not necessarily a fast food chain. Their fries are absolutely delicious though.
Texas Toast is just toast made with thick sliced bread, two or three normal slices thick. And that really long sub is probably for 3 or 4 people... some places sell "party subs" up to 6 ft. long.
Krystal Burgers are GREAT! I live only 30 miles from Tennessee and go by Krystal often! My favorite is the Bacon Cheese Krystal and Chili Cheese Fries! I'm a Mississippian and I've never eaten at Zaxby's .... Not a huge fan of chicken! Mississippi is the Catfish capital of the world and I would much prefer a nice slab of fried catfish to chicken! LOL
If you make it to Hawaii. They serve plate lunch everywhere and they are the best. Best is to ask locals about where to eat. And if you want fresh fries ask them to not have salt. They will normally make a fresh batch. And just add salt when you get it.
Wawa started out as a convenience store with a deli counter at the back, which is why you're seeing people get milk with their fast food. Over the years its deli counter has morphed into providing more than just cold cuts and sandwiches. You can get hot subs (cheese steaks, meatball subs, etc), all kinds of soups, mashed potatoes, mac'n cheese, hamburger mac, and so much more. Also "eat a bag of dicks" is a threat/insult everywhere in the US except western Washington :D
From Arkansas, and yes Slim Chickens is great. The jar desert is amazing with chocolate or strawberry cakes….. slim chicken sauce a “have to”, sorta reminds you of Big Mac Sauce, but great on chicken fingers.
Plus if in Arkansas try the cat fish, best I’ve had is actually at the gas station down the street….lol. But is is fresh water fish to die for…. It’s great.
The pickles aren't that big on a Chicago dog, iy's the camera angle that makes it look so big. They are actually an eigth of a pickle sliced lengthwise.
The lettuce wrap at in-n-out is a good option because their hamburger buns are crap. Too sweet and they fall apart. They're like a krispy kreme doughnut.
Skyline & GoldStar Chili are only in and around Cincinnati Ohio & Northern Kentucky. I’ve grown up on it so I really enjoy it but I’m fully aware lots of people don’t
I live in Akron and we have a Skyline...I go there all the time!!!! My parents are from Cincy so I've been eating it my entire life. I try to convert as many northern Ohioans as a I can but they definitely don't go as crazy for it as southern Ohioans. I always tell my friends that Skyline to us is like Swensons to Northeast Ohians. They go crazy for it and swears it's the best burger place, but I don't think it's that's good. Not even close to Five Guys.
I am here in Maryland. Yes, Boardwalk Fries and there's Thrasher's Fries are places just dedicated to fries!!! It's great!!!! And Delaware is close by. Capriotti's is the bomb! Omg! Wawa, I love Wawa it's my favorite gas station chain.
Why do I love these reaction videos so much? I’m so sad you haven’t had a burrito! I think I would eat anything in a tortilla. I get the lettuce wrapped burger at In N Out about half the time. It just feel fresher. But it could use a little salt when you get it without the bun. Tx toast from Raisin Canes is like a soft brioche bread, cut thick and toasted. It’s delish. I promise you roast beef that’s pink looking is so good!! It’s not raw. Also not going to lie, when I was in the UK I could eat fish, chips and mushy peas every day. So I appreciate English fare too. Haha
