Yeah, whomever said that we don't have a good selection of Fruits & Veggies either lied thru their teeth or didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Because every grocery store I've ever been in has a MASSIVE fresh produce section. Now, small Bodegas in cities may not have a large produce section, but every big chain grocery store sure does have them. I have a feeling that whomever started this theory only went to a Bodega or perhaps s convenience store or something like that.

Once you’re done paying and they’re done bagging you got 30 seconds to finish talking before someone’s gonna make a scene 😂 and it’s also a well known fact for ppl in GA that you don’t hold the line up too long after you’re done paying and collecting your stuff. Even the person joining in behind you is gonna cut you off or do that thing where they all of a sudden get very short with you when before they were giving novels each sentence. Get them one word answers and the ole “uh huh. Yep. Mhmm” 😂 although if you and the person behind you are in a convo, or y’all and the cashier are all in one and that’s the only other person in like I’ve seen(and been a part of haha) conversations that lasted for up to 20-25 minutes, to never see them again in my life haha. As a former Emergency Medical Technician & a biologist, I can tell you that “cold” reduces inflammation & many “germs” &/or microbes can’t tolerate cold…it must live in a moist, warm environment, so it reduces the germs ability to multiply. Once the initial stage of illness is over, then switching from hot (to flush out germs) & cold (to reduce germ population while controlling inflammation) works best. This is also a great way to treat external injuries & sore muscles!! 💞🇺🇸

Actually, she doesn’t understand Americans because she grew up in Russia. American’s relatively smiling and friendly nature comes from our history and culture. We don’t have a tendency to walk about scowling and feeling oppressed. American’s smile because generally we have a positive “can do” attitude. Also, we talk to people, because of lack of fear of sharing our opinion because of freedom of speech that they really didn’t under the USSR. We also chat due to curiosity and a general interest in people, and we are not afraid to talk about struggles. Geesh!

How is it, no brainer? People apologize for stupid things. For instance, you at a grocery store and someone is standing in the way of the item you need. Most people would simply say “excuse me, or pardon me” and leave it that. No, we flippin apologize just for saying excuse me. We are not smiling and being nice out of friendliness, it’s mainly used to show we that we are of no threat to the other person. It’s not greeting or out of genuine joy. Okay #1 alot of women will wait till after the first trimester to tell anyone their pregnant because thats when most (not all) miscarriages are likely to occur, #2 she sounds snobbish about the clothes, most of us will only get expensive clothes and dress up for special occasions. @VelGer-hq7ms
@VelGer-hq7ms 6 месяцев назад
I've heard that a few times, how in parts of Europe, they're afraid of mentioning that they're pregnant. This because of their fear of being 'jinxed'. We have to understand that many of those areas over there, outside of a major city, are extraordinarily backward. They live as if it was hundreds of years ago. Here, in the States, we're always happy to hear of a person's pregnancy ... whether it be a relative, friend, neighbor or co-worker. I'd guess she's never heard of a baby shower. As for 'dressing up' for day to day activities ... are people impressed by checking out a person's 'designer jeans', for instance? Again, that's extremely from the long past. As an example: a beginning office worker, earning minimum wage, may be all dressed up in a suit. Meanwhile, the millionaire owner of his company may daily show up wearing denims and a T-shirt. As I've said, many overseas have extremely dated thoughts and practices that have us Americans more than a bit amused.

Many women don't mention their pregnancy until after the first trimester around the world. Not to avoid jingling the birth. But first of all it cuts down the time for people to keep asking you about it. If you miscarry it is more likely early in pregnancy. If you miscarry and people keep asking about the pregnancy it us too painful to keep repeating that the baby was lost. Once showing all women tell others as they could not avoid others noticing.

I never give money to beggars outside of stores unless they ask for something specific. I have been homeless before and I know a scam / Hussle when I see it. I was at Aldi's and an older couple didn't realize that their EBT was down. So I paid for all of their groceries, and they insisted that I give them my address so they could pay me back and I refused and told them about how I had been through struggle and it brings me so much joy to be the person I wish would have been around when I was a kid. Also with the fruits and veg thing. When people talk about not having those options they're talking about "food deserts" which is where a poor area doesn't have actual grocery stores, either from lack of business, excess regulation, or theft, so shopping ends up being done at convenience stores. It's the reason you see all that food and stuff being sold at pharmacies and other places where you wouldn't sell food in the UK.

I’m American and i grew up in a small town where most people knew each other. When I moved to Wyoming after having lived in Paris, France and a couple big cities in the America, I had forgotten that it seemed to take forever to get out of the grocery store. The clerks and people you would encounter in the store would always expect you to chat, "How’s your mother doing,” "How’s your dog." I’m not joking. To rush out, you had to make some excuse or people might think you were really unfriendly. The other thing was seasonally in the meat section, there were photographs over the packages of meat of kids holding that animal and the ribbon they had won at the fair.

It depends on if there is anyone behind you. There are those people who chit chat and hold up the line but they usually have a line of very irritated people behind them. Remember Americans are easy going and pleasant until you get our backs up. Then we can get quite angry and vindictive. Probably why we try not to access that side of ourselves. Also why we go to the aid of everyone who has the smallest problem. We know how bad we can be so we do extra good to make up for it.

With the charity "paying it forward" thing... I have actually been in the McDonald's drive-thru before, and when I pulled up to the window to pay, the worker told me that the person ahead of me had paid for my order. So I paid for the person behind me. When I worked at McDonald's, I saw that happen in my drive-thru a couple of times. It would go through many people, and usually, the person that ended it was someone that you could tell really needed a blessing that day. So, in essence, the person who started it helped out that last person.

What she said about clothing is inaccurate. In the U.S., we have access to exquisitely made clothing that will last you your entire life. It really depends where you are shopping and how much you are willing to pay… quality runs from junk all the way to ultimate luxury. It also can depend on where you live. Some small towns only have a Walmart… and Walmart specializes in affordable. Other places have luxury boutiques and access to fashion houses as if it was the grocery. The "pay it forward" thing by helping someone at a store pay for something is true. I never really thought about it until I saw this, but it is common. It usually happens when you're in a line and see someone realize they're short, or pulling out change and counting it, or start to take something back. It is not unusual for the person behind them to say, "I've got it." This happens most frequently in Walmarts or grocery stores.

We are the melting pot. Every culture has been established here for at least 100 years and it shows with our food, our attitudes, our personalities and many other characteristics. We are all proud of our historical families heritage, yet it actually takes second to our love of our country as Americans. The Americans that have been here for hundreds of years are proud of that, just as the huge percentage of new (1st and 2nd generation) Americans are proud to be Americans. In the latter case, it’s a huge appreciation that we are lucky enough to be apart of a beautiful country that gives us the freedoms that we have. There are currently 10 federal holidays here in the US and it's common to get at least 1 week of paid time off plus holidays for full-time employment (40 hours a week). A lot also offer 3-5 days of sick time. So it's really more common to get a month or more total paid time off per year. It's also common for a company to increase your paid time off after you've worked there for a few yrs. If you work for a really small company or you are only a part time worker, you may get less, but most companies give at least a week plus holidays. I regularly pay for the person behind me in the drive-thru at Starbucks. I will also occasionally pay for someone's fast food order when I'm in the drive-thru. We call it "pay it forward". If someone does it for you, then you should also do something kind for someone else. It doesn't have to be paying for something, it just needs to be something kind.

Paying it forward is a real thing- Everytime I have a random stranger pay for my food- I make sure to pay it forward to someone else - I’ll be at a drive thru - and ask how much the customers bill is behind me- and I say I’ll pay for them too- then I get my stuff and drive off- u don’t want recognition- u just want to do something a little nice for someone- I have had some pretty bad days- and I’ll pull up to pay - and they tell me another car paid for my order- it’s always such a warm feeling! Instantly brightens your mood-

Yep, I call it random acts of kindness. I’ve done it many times and have it done to me. I walk with a cane, and have had numerous people tote my cart to my car and put my groceries on for me. One lady loaded my big bags of potting soil in my car at the garden center. One time I was short just 5 cents buying a bag of cat food. Ran to the car where I had changed stored. A guy followed me and forced me to take a dollar! I told him I had the money but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. I took it because I knew he was wanting to do a nice thing. One time I was buying a loaf of groceries and there was only one check out line open. This guy was behind me. He had sone snacks and a beer. I told the checker to add it to my bill. He wanted a pack of smokes, and I paid for that too. The reason I did it was, his clothes were all greasy, so I thought he must have been a mechanic. I’m sure he was tired and just wanted to get home and enjoy his snacks and beer and relax. I’m sure it came to less than 10 dollars. I’ve done other things as well. Not telling this for any kind of glory. Just saying there are so many different ways to do nice things for people. It makes me feel so good to do these! And it’s always returned to me in kindness. I love it!

YES YES YES! I do think clothing is more cheap than it was but she also is talking about now versus 13-15 years ago when she lived in Russia. 1. You have to shop at the right places for good clothes 2. Stuff in Russia from similar stores is probably just as cheap. 3. The cheap stuff is made outside of USA usually. 4. Even cheap stuff is not worn once, she was exaggerating!

as an American I can say from experience we smile & laugh at some of the craziest things. Example...I met up with why friend for lunch at chickfila & after we ate she ordered 3 gallon teas to take home. When we got to our cars we were saying our goodbyes when she actually hit the button for the tailgate to lift, she started dropping the teas, I tried to catch some when my drink went flying in the air & drenched us both. We just stood there laughing & wondering if anyone caught it on camera & would post it to RU-vid. In my community it's very normal to pay it forward. Someone's done it for me & I'm done it also. Usually at Starbucks & McDs. Grocery stores we let others who have less items go ahead of us, always will to help elderly & veterans. USA is definitely more quantity over quality, but it wasn't like that when I was little, I wear what's comfortable & not worry about others think. If I find a brand I like I'll stick with that brand.

On fashion, I think she may be referring to the fact that Americans do like to dress informally -- unless there is a compelling occasion or need to dress up. So, your average weekend trip to the grocery store might be in jeans and a sweatshirt, or shorts and a tee shirt. Even going to church in many places is now more casual (traditionally, we used to dress up for church). Also, it is true that many clothes are "fast fashion" from discount brands and stores. However, not everyone goes that route. I have fewer clothes, but I buy for quality. If my closet is getting too full, I will donate any clothes I am not wearing much anymore. But basically, I don't buy clothes very often.

There's acces to all quality of clothes, cheap and expensive( you pay for what you get. 4. I think Americans are polite to people who are polite. We are taught at a young age to greet people when you walk into a room, say thank you and excuse me.

Days off and sick days here are not the same across the board. First off, employee perks are up to the company or employer. Some companies are good while others are not so good. However, most companies offer more time off as the length of your employment progresses over the years. Also, for higher up positions, those things can be negotiated as part of your new employment package or contract just like a salary. Some companies also allow someone to take more time off for sick or vacation but without pay. And yes, the combination of different ethnic foods is called "fusion" foods which is starting to catch on. And as far as quality of clothing . . she doesn't know where to shop.

Smiling is used in america as a polite way to acknowledge someones presence without speaking or starting conversation. People also smile when they are infuriated. Smiling often times doesnt mean someones happy. You can always tell by the eyes whether someone is smiling because they are happy, out of respect, or as an anger response. The eyes dont lie.

When I get home, I take off the makeup, put on joggers, a tee shirt, and relax. I think a large chunk of Americans are like that. Not only that, but the joggers you put on after work are probably high quality, too. Just because something is casual wear doesn’t mean it’s low quality. I have sweat pants that I’ve had for years, and they are still in great shape. Jeans last practically forever. I had a very comfortable pair of sneakers that I wore while mowing my lawn for 7-8 summers in a row. They were still wearable when I finally threw them out only because they were stained green from the grass. I’ve literally never bought any item of clothing that only lasted one wear unless it was a Halloween costume.
