They can no longer afford independent houses in a place like UK , for the kind of land space they have... they are not the USA.... They need to build some kind of apartment complex which are suitable for that environment. Lack of housing has been an issue in UK for a long time.
Unless we in the Uk end for good the disaster that has been the right to buy scheme, then nothing will change, we cannot keep selling off our social housing and not building replacements and then wonder why those who need to rent affordable housing cannot seem too !!! Its crazy.
I have seen they build better housing in Asia , compared to whole of Europe and WEST... The houses in UK especially are small, cramped... instead of building apartments which are livable... they build all these semi-detached properties etc, which is not sustainable, as there is only so much land in UK !
@@oliverbusby8850 bullshit, have you seen how many million dollar flats. Meanwhile you have terraced houses going for 800,000. Do you have any idea how cheap London houses are. People in Hong Kong sell their condominium and buy 2 to 3 properties in London to be landlords, that's why you have no more houses.
@@MrBoliao98 Lol chill out mate. Literally just went on propertyguru and found an HDB, 2 bedroom apartment for S$320,000 (£190,000) in queenstown. You folks swimming in cheap HDB property. Agree with you about too many investors in London though. Big problem is a lack of new supply though.
@@oliverbusby8850 320,000 either you have 40 years lease in a crime infested 2 Room flat (1 Bed 1 Living), or its right at the end of civilization in Tengah. No bus, no telecomm, no food, nothing. Queenstown the lease commenced in 1960 during colonial rule, good luck, the lease left 35 years.
@@MrBoliao98 Fair points but honestly for £190,000 you can't even get a studio apartment in London on the outskirts of the city. I agree the 40 year lease is a limitation but I can't see the Singaporean government asking for the properties back, it would be too controversial and impact too large a segment of the population all at once. We had the same in the UK 60 years ago (Leasehold Reform Act of 1967) and the leaseholders were forced to back down. Plus I do not believe Singapore has any crime infested places. Spent two wonderful years there, did not even see a hint of crime!
