It's called getting in the zone It's when he's SO deep in his work that he's in a sort of trance. It only happens when your focus is solely on what your doing right now. It happens to gamers, musicians, actors, anything that makes you focus on what your doing. When your in the zone, you forget your fears, your sense of worry, the only thing Tokyo was feeling was his music, and when he was in the zone, it wasn't his body or his mind you were hearing, but his soul.
this is still one of the auditions that I think about years later. I'm so glad he won the competition too !! Much deserved. Make sure to listen to his new music too !
He should have gotten the Golden Buzzer. When he started going into a trance, it's like he just brought everyone with him. Very unique and such an amazing performance. He's my favorite so far this year!
@@PeregrinusHumilus he’s right... it happens to a lot of athletes or musicians. They become so engrossed in what they are doing that they tune everything else out. Cristian has probably experienced something like this before because he performs music or has an athletic background.
@@Christian85595 ok it might not have affected the musician, but what if some of the audience there would like to quietly enjoy the music and all the sudden the crowd start applauding? if I were one of those people I would be extremely irritated by the crowd
This young man is amazingly talented and humble. I don't understand why acts like this don't get the golden button; most likely because they want to see more from him before the finals. Stunning performance. 🤗
Not really. For professionals and/or prodigies. this is considered medium at best- if he wanted to play something that's actually hard there's many options out there such as Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement (Which is considerably the easiest of the hard pieces on the piano). Then there's La Campanella, Liebesfreud, Liebesleid and Liebestraum. Then there's Chopin's etudes such as Wrong Note, Torrent, Waterfall, Winterwind. After that there's the Grandes études de Paganini, The Trancendental Etudes such as Feux Follets (ALSO by Liszt), the Hungarian Rhapsody, Opus Clavicembalisticum by Sorabji. THEN we have Gaspard de la Nuit by Ravel, Alkan's Concerto for Solo Piano (WHICH, in it's entirety is 50 minutes long), Sonata No. 5 by Scriabin, Trois mouvements de Petrouchka by Stravinsky, Piano Concerto No. 2 by Prokofiev, Étude for Piano by Ligeti. Those are just some examples- there's still more and the piece he played IS NOT one of them.
For anyone that's actually played the piano more than 1 hour through out a youtube tutoriel, you know that it isn't extremely hard. Technically and emotionaly. I'm not saying he's not talented just that there is over 2 million of virtuoso in China only. To be clear : virtuso is another planet from what you've seen in this video. No hate in this comment, just give the right amount of respect for pros.
@@whydoieven1400 I couldn't agree more honestly. It doesnt take talent to be able to play Chopin's etude. It takes talent and extremely hard work, precision. Those that master them, they are really astonishing. But of course they won't try this show as it's mainstream entertainment for the people.
His background theme is "Human" performed by Rag'n'Bone Man. He's playing Clair de lune by DeBussy and mix with Bloodstrean by Ed Sheeran. Hope this help some people keep asking about that. Wishing Tokio will become one of the best pianist of all times.
Thank you. I have been wondering about the music, even the background song, so thanks a bunch for the info. Very thoughtful of you, answered my questions perfectly. Also, IMO, he IS one of the most talented pianists I have seen or heard and I love his mixes and blends. He is extremely talented and original and that should serve him well.
A performance that is delivered when everyone keeps their mouth shut is what’s actually called amazing. Look at how there wasn’t any howling and shouting everyone was mesmerized 🤩🤩🤩
Tokio is so humble... Its amazing how people who possess raw greatness and pure beauty, genuinely are not really aware of how fantastic and gifted they are... ..
2 things He is 32....Most piano pros could play this peace when they where 7 or younger. In a piano competition he wouldn't even be mediocre. He isn't bad but no were near as good as you all guys think he is.
He just didn’t need a golden buzzer, all he needed was a few yes, and then he went on to create his legacy. Now that’s confidence with a lot of talent. ~ Tokio Myers everybody !
And especially has a *deep* connection with the instrument he plays. As a musician myself (albeit it has been YEARS since I last played an instrument), I still feel a special connection to the very first instrument I played - the cello. It's like an old friend who has always been around through the tough times. No matter how long it has been, even split up (my family couldn't afford one, so it was provided by the school), there's always something special.
I actually don’t because unless I’m mistaken that means we would have had one less performance of his to watch, or am I mistaken? I’m not too sure what the GB allows you to skip. In any case my favorite contestant and artist on the show, ever.
Swann golden buzzer makes you go straight to the lives whereas everyone else who got yeses not all go through to the lives - the judges choose again but the acts don’t perform again
One day my piano came without my dad and a letter with "playing shitty pop songs with eyes closed doesn't make you a good musician, but non-musicians will think you're a genius"
2023, I just got here, I'm stunned 😯 by the talent ✨ and Ed Sheeran's Bloodstream. And the piano, it is an extension of his body and soul. I almost feel breathless.
I've never felt like this from watching an audition I had chills run through my body and it's amazing, he DEFINITELY deserved a golden buzzer if I was there I would've pressed it in a heart beat, he is going to get far and not just in this competition!
Really nice to see that the Crowd and Judges could see how truly good he really is.. Catching the Crowd's attention on a Talent show with Piano, is not the easiest thing. Superb
What a talent .....he is memorizing....that’s the only way to describe him .....great piano playing combined with with creativity .....what a fabulous blend
Remembering back to when my 3 year old was just months old and her non stop crying I found this. As soon as he strikes the keys with his fingertips she would instantly stop crying.
@@aldysan2401 I was referring to his childhood upbringing, how he did well and stayed out of trouble despite growing up in a very challenging environment. No offense to him.
Popcorn, thank you for reminding us of him. With the amazing skill, artistry, and passion Tokio Myers has, it is no surprise that he won Season 11 of Britain's Got Talent.
Tokio's💘💝💘 most outstanding quality besides his effortless musical charisma is his HUMILITY. It's gentle, gracious, and genuine 💥💖💥... HUMILITY is the outpouring of many of the greatest music in all the ages of time. I believe he has some of the greatest spirit helpers from the era of classical musicians. And I really don't think they are working through him but expressing some of the music they were unable to create in their short lives. They are using Tokio as channel because of his gentle yieldedness and beauteous HUMILITY... A gorgeous human instrument of the greatest music yet to be performed. There AREN'T TOO MANY TRUE ARTISTS WHO'S HUMBLE ENOUGH TO BE THAT INSTRUMENTAL💘💝💘
my heart drops every time the beat drops, I have listened to this a lot and every time I do its the same. You can feel him through the music. Its perfect.
Watching him - and watching the judges - for the first time I could see that the judges are serious artists themselves - their expressions and body language were so rapt and yet feeling so with him.
It's a classical piece I don't understand why people feel the need to clap in the middle of the performance. There's a time and a place but this wasn't either, it's really just rude to interrupt his performance like that. Luckily those terribly off-best claps weren't audible
He literally gets possessed by the music. How beautiful did those hands lay on that piano. He had me in every emotion. I couldn’t help but tear towards the ending.
This man changed my life. I first heard it when I was 13 and it woke up my mind. I’m 20 now and my music appreciation is so vastly different than what it was back then. I have so much love for this man and what he did on this stage. He inspired me to learn more about music as an art form and sound layering as well as appreciation movie scores more than ever before. Ludwig is my second favorite to Hans Zimmer right now. Anyway. This guys great
It's very rare for pianists to play so aggressively, yet still produce a gentle and soft note. It's almost like a really bad scratch. You have so many emotions and you just want to hammer the keys but the talented few can turn all these emotions into something beautiful.
DownieMcSyndrome I know your question wasn’t directed at me, but... I think for many, yeah. It’s really hard to play the way he did and make it sound as if his fingers were already resting on the keys. I played piano for years and I don’t have the kind of control he has when he hits the keys aggressively. It’s a lot harder than it looks. One small mistake could ruin everything that was good about the piece so lifting your hand up that high and bringing it back down with that kind of force is kind of a gamble.
Nov 4th 2020..going into lockdown..this gives me hope..wow tokyo just blew me away no words to sum up what u just done there..spine tingling..god bless
