Very interesting Adam, seems to be wherever you go on the lizard there is world war 2 history. Must of been very busy area at the time. I suppose there was no point digging that building into the ground, the masts would give its position away no problem!
Hi thanks yes indeed. I've since found out that the radar equipment that would once have been there was moved from RAF Dry Tree which was sited next to Goonhilly Earth Station. So it's logical to assume that Pen Olver was created by necessity and with borrowed equipment meaning it was a pretty make shift affair rather than a planned installation. Thanks for watching. TwEx
That does sound right really, this place does look like it was built in a hurry and dry trees it very well built! On you tube the other day farmer was showing parts of trerew station in his field at newquay. It’s surprising how much is still standing after all this time.
