British Airways Winter Operations deicing aircraft in JEDI SOUTH, also know as the PAD on the 18th of March. This is one our Vestergaard Beta 14's that we currently have.
The 2017/2018 season was our busiest season on record and we had dealt with multiple snow days.

Crazy to me seeing you not get the engine as well, when we deice over here, captain calls for type 1 full body, and that's when we spray everything (besides the obvious no spray spots) including the engine cowling

Can the truck be driven from the de-icing cab, or does it need a separate driver?

A_aron 37 no need as we were not in any active frost or precipitation conditions. Only have to decontaminate on not protect. :) Hope this helps.

If one has little to no snow and frozen precipitation, Type 1 is only needed fortunately. Even if there's frost, well at least in North America, Type 1 only needs to be used.

Nice video. Do you still do this? was this seasonal work? through an agency or direct? good pay/job satisfaction?

It would depend on the airport, its owners, contractors, and its location in the world. : ) Heathrow probably just has full deicing operations in Autumn and Winter. There may be some deicing out of season, to remove rime ice, which collects on the plane when it travels through super cold, rapidly decreasing temperature in the air at 9000 meters (30,000 ft) or more.

@@AJKPenguin lol just like any other job then. Yeah I had a look at the de-icing jobs, but it's seasonal and the pay isn't good (about 1 pound more than I'm on now). Luckily I have managed to pass my HGV class 2 recently and more doors have opened, looking forward to earning a decent wage soon!
