I’m literally watching all these videos religiously , I am waiting for my start date to join the army as a combat medic but I’m so nervous for the fitness side of things
I’m going to apply next year for the grenadier guards and at the moment I’m what u would consider overweight according to the NHS BMI so I’ve cut down on eating chocolate and sweet stuff and eating more fruit and exercising more
Wolfy 3942 if u look ok and are fit u should be fine bmi can be rubbish cos muscle weighs more than fat so u can be young but proper hench an the bmi says ur overweight. If u can run 2km without stopping an do 40 push-ups as a rep u should be good but don't stop there obviously make sure u go harder on urself ini
Fantastic video! I couldn't stop laughing when when he saw the camera and thought something was a miss lol. I wish these videos were about when I joined. They give you such a better insight than just listening to the careers office.
@@Fabziy Thanks bro I enjoy your videos didn't think you would reply brother salam 👊 oh one more question as well how much does it cost to live on the barracks. Like monthly outgoings? Because I understand that people save a lot when they work in the army?!
@@Para-tc5uv going into year 11 soon, and hoping I will be fit enough to be able to finish basic. I really wanna get in the Royal Tank Regiment! Good luck to you man as well.
Great video Fabzy - Quick question: How long do you allow between completion of the 4k loaded march, and beginning the 2km best effort? I'm not sure whether you allow the class a 5 minute break, or whether they go immediately from the tab into the best effort?
Thanks for the video and your service. Big respect 👊 I’m hopefully going to join the reserves soon I’m 34 getting an old boy lol I’ve applied and passed the first stage. I’m eligible
Yea, I remember that, one sausage and one bacon. Wow how much it has changed regards food. I rember buying chocolate from NAFFI to get calories in me. The food was disgraceful. My Father came on my Pass out and got 2 sausages & 3 bacon. He was promptly told to put it back. I was so embarrassed. He couldn't believe I'd done all that training on 1, sausage and 1, bacon.
Great to get an insight in to today's army day to day life....great camraderie and ethos still, reminded me of my own time - plus big respect for the dagger, wings and PT Corps 👌
Not any more, they introduced pay as you dine years ago. Most troop accommodation will have a kitchen area as well so they can prepare their own meals if they want.
Fabziy I've been watching your videos. I really need a push to help with cardio. That's my biggest challenge now. I've not been given assessment date yet and I'm training to get fit. I'll appreciate if you could assist me. Thank you
@fabZiy yeah good news and bad news. The good news is i start at Pirbright on the 7th July. The bad news is i have to do a 4 week Soldier Development course to help with my bmi first. But either way i cant wait to get down and start
Literally spend all my spare time watching these! Even the same ones sometimes haha! Could you please tell me the name of the track at around 2:45? Ive heard it in your other videos, im guessing it one of your own beats! Got a wicked vibe to it
When you do your pre fitness test to get in to the army, when do you do your actual role test? Because the each role requires different levels of fitness
You will do it at the assessment centre you will be told where and when you need to do it. Personally for me i went to strensall camp in york and did mine there for infantry..
I only know that paras have the maroon beret, I don’t know anyone else who also have the maroon beret, but what is that badge? I’ve never seen that badge before.
Hello Fabziy I start Phase 1 training at Pirbright in June when I get to Pirbright will they make us do the Fitness test again if so will it be the old or the new fitness test? Great videos btw really enjoying them..👍
Tobias U.K. Firstly, I’d like to say well done for signing up! From the 1st April 19 we’ve rolled out the new Physical Employment Standard (PES), so you’ll be doing the PES test - Role Fitness Test (Entry) to be precise
Do many people fail the basic training? I’m thinking about joining the army but I’m not physically fit, would you recommend waiting a year and get fit before hand
Hi Katie, good move! In my opinion it’s definitively better if you get fit before you start BT as it will help you a lot and it would be one thing less to worry about. If you watch my video ‘recruits impressions’ they all seem to agree with me 🙂 Stay tuned I’m planning to do some videos on how to get fit.
Recce means "the process of visiting and quickly looking around a place in order to find out information about it" so in this instance we went to check out the route that we could use for the test 👍
Snow flakes dont eat breakfast only McDonald's and the army spent a fortune on food that never got eaten its all pay as you go now that's why the standards all dropped these lot would never pass training back in the 1980
In December that’s when I’m 15 years and 7 months and I’m going to apply for Harrogate afc for September 2020 for the royal artillery course. I’m just wondering what the requirements are to get in and what the assessment consists of?
Joseph Fawcett yea, I’ve done loads of research and I’ve seen other people’s reviews and they all seem to be different from the ones that I’ve seen so I’m not 100% sure and I don’t want to be training the wrong things so when I get there I’m useless
@@leahalexandra3517 2km run - 11mins 30, medicine ball throw - 3.1 meters, mid thigh pull - 70kg. That's to get into Harrogate but to pass out of Harrogate your 2km run time must be - 10mins 45. Hope this helped.
Do you take part in phys every morning during and after your phase training? If so what do you have to do every morning and is it optional if you would rather do your own training in a gym? Thank you in advance, would help to know as I’m looking at joining up next year :)
You do a lot of phys in particular in Phase 1 & 2 training, that's not optional at all! And after your training you are required to maintain a good level of fitness (need to pass the annual fitness tests) and you do what you're told to do, sounds hard but it's necessary to get you where you need to be and able to do your job. But it's also a lot of 'fun' as you grow as a person and realise what you can achieve. Good luck!
Kimbi50 lol a compliment with a dig... only people who’d love to have but can’t accomplish say things like that (in my experience). Fabziy, your ‘badge collection’ is impressive, it only shows that you’re a striver and achiever! I’d be very proud if I had those!
@@natnice5359 it wasn't meant to be a dig. Not one for bragging but I was a badge collector so cool your rarse. Its banter. I got nothing but love for my brother here and I don't hate I'm too old and successful in my own life for that.
The youth of today cant take it today not like the old days they get realy touchy when you tell them how easy it is now they dont believe you I have said it before when I joined in the 80s they were trying to get rid of you now will try everything to keep you I have seen the recent tv programmes such an easy life beds made down duvet can you do this do that please get the feeling it's a joke
Codey Sutcliffe it would be fine as long as you come under the time, but remember you’re being assessed! You want to put your maximum effort! Don’t think about walking, Keep going, jog if you need to catch a breath but don’t start walking. Give your 100%, train hard and you won’t feel the need to walk.
If you struggle with 2k man you need to get out there and run 4 days a week not being able to run 2k without stopping is not good mate. A high standard of phys will get you places in the army .
