I often wondered if the golden shot was taken off due to health and safety issues. It stopped in 1975, the year after the health and safety at work act was passed.

Crossroads was very popular serial soap in it's day. can't judge yesterdays things by todays quality standards.

I think you're confusing objective information with what I actually think. I've never watched Crossroads. I'm reporting what others have said about it

If we didn't have Crossroads, we'd never have had Acorn Antiques 😂!

Crossroads ('one of the worst soaps' (I think rep'd by critics due to it being compared to twice-weeklies like Corrie, when it was doing five a week) and equally one of the longest-running and most successful for ITV Daytime) was due to its rating success in the late 60s copied to ITC Film for sales abroad, to try and cash in by screening it in counties that may have been more used to five-eps a week soaps, (such as America) and a lot of that monochrome film was retained in the UK until ITC closed a facility in the 1990s and then it, along with a fair whack of Emergency Ward 10, went missing - likely destroyed or just left to become rubble. The 1.1 release came off the back of my research into missing ATV programmes. Clips used on news and documentaries in the 80s and 90s had been noted down as using clips 'from the ATV News' archive, (as in small segments cut from eps retained for features, usually on colour or B&W film). Only I pointed out to ITV Archive that a documentary actually shows full old episodes sped-up on screens. So they went and had a rummage and turned up those three episodes - ironically the two eps from 1973 that featured in Open The Box (Channel 4) seen sped-up on screens were not any of the ones re-discovered... so they went missing after 1986.

I would love for some missing episodes of general hospital to be found, especially the peeping Tom storyline which the episodes the story ran across are largely missing

@@yccallumgames6321 Yes General Hospital was another on ITC Telecine copy that a lot went missing in the 1990s too. A big shame.

@@AssociatedTVNetwork At least some B&W 16mm telerecordings have survived even one of the episodes from the dvd is from a colour telerecording, exceptionally rare, can only assume it was done as a experiment/test

That would be 'Deah Goltnuh Shuus', for 'Der Goldene Schuß', not 'Deah Goldihn Shub'.
