I really wish everyone would follow this advice. So many people are tipping now at fast food and Chinese take-out locations, that it's becoming 'a thing'. Starbuck's has even taken to sticking the reader in your face in the drive through and asking you to answer the tip question. I've even noticed a tip screen on Walmart and Publix self-check-out screens. Talk about having no shame! Since covid, many fast-food locations have added the tip option to the credit screens that never used to be there before. I understand why people do tip there though. It's embarrassing and it makes you feel guilty if you don't.

The last time I confronted someone they said they thought my house was a museum. As if that makes it OK…? Last year I was out front gardening and a pair of cyclists stopped by to ask if they could photograph my house. I thought it was very polite of them to ask and I said yes. The reason people don't like strangers walking on their property is because of the potential to be sued. This may be a regional thing, but at least in the south it is acceptable to BRIEFLY answer honestly when asked how are you, meaning keep it to one sentence. You don't have to just say doing good, etc. It is ok to say things like having a hectic day, It seems like everything that can go wrong is going wrong today. The key is to keep it short, as long as it is something that can be said in passing it is generally ok as a reply. As to tipping bus drivers, no to public transportation drivers, yes to tour bus drivers, maybe courtesy shuttle bus drivers, there is some gray area here for things like public trolleys, buses, etc. in tourist areas.

I was n a hurry so kinda skipped through. The yard thing pretty much is because of a few reasons. It creates a trail and people keep shortcutting on it killing the grass as well they throw their garbage in your lawn or let their dog crap in it then leave. Then there are people who are jus jerks. My driveway was bad for this as it was a small loop and tourist constantly, i mean 10 to 20 times a day miss the waterfalls parking and need to turn around. Wouldnt have cared if they could actually stay on the driveway! I've had to go out because people drove so far off they got their cars stuck in my grass.
@mortimerbrewster3671
@mortimerbrewster3671 Месяц назад
Any time I use a driveway to turn around (not a loop but a pull in and back out) I feel so self conscious about it and only stick the nose in far enough that I could back up and turn around in one go. I can't imagine being so intrusive as to drive completely in to someones driveway or even yard. I don't have a fence around my property (no one does) and I had a neighbor who was walking through my back yard (front to back, vice versa) as a short cut to get to her house. I never got into it with her and she didn't leave any lasting damage but it was disconcerting to see her go back or come out. I don't understand a person who can walk through someone's private property like that.

As far as walking on someone's yard, it is trespassing. If the property owner has a sidewalk, use it. If there is no sidewalk, use the driveway. If one person crosses the property uninvited, they might be forgiven if they offer an apology. If multiple people trespass, that sets a precedent that must be stopped as early as possible because it is liability for homeowners. Never enter a structure uninvited. Never. That escalates to home invasion at worst, breaking and entering at the least.

This is a distortion. There's a legal minimum wage for those that earn tips that is smaller than the general minimum wage. So, saying they're paid less than the "legal" minimum wage is simply not true. Also, if the employee's minimum wage plus their tips isn't enough to at least equal the general minimum wage, the employer has to make up the difference. Here is an easy guide on what to tip, look at the bill, take the tax amount and double it, most places the tax rate will be between 8-10%, those places that are above 10% usually have a higher cost of living, and therefore expected tips tend to be higher there too. Also your math on tips does not have to be exact round up or down to the nearest dollar is fine. For example my wife and I ate at a small Italian restaurant while on vacation in central Texas tonight, the bill came to about $51, tax showing on the bill was $4.69, so I left about a $10 tip. I actually paid in cash and left $62 total, service was good, but not great.

To clarify the trespassing thing, legally you can only get arrested for trespassing if you know you are trespassing, so if there's a sign posted or if the owner of the property tells you to leave and you don't. Usually the cops will let you go with a warning (assuming you don't just refuse to leave and fight the cops) but if you return to the property you will get arrested. If it's a place that's normally open to the public like a store and you for some reason are told to leave, something similar will happen if you remain there. The video makes it sound like people don't get arrested for trespassing, but that's usually just the first time. Once the cops have a record of that person being on the property and being told to leave, if they have to go back the person is going to jail.

If you are standing next to a doorman and he farts, he is due a $10.00 tip minimum. Tipping is out of hand here in the USA. One of my favorite tips to give is "Do not take your money to casinos" There are places here in the USA the tip is automatically added to your bill so, before you leave a tip on the table, make sure there isn't one aready on the bill. Usually if I walk into a restaurant and they ask "How are you"? I tell them I am hungry.

Walking on someone's lawn occurs when you cut across when turning a corner or when playing football/etc. NEVER let your dog do their business in someone's yard (not even if you are going to pick it up, not even if it is urine). Wars have been started over this.

Talk about the weather,food sports or the place you are visiting if you speak with anyone GOOD advice regarding sales tax : Whenever I shop I round each item in my cart to the nearest dollar so I know I'll have enough if Im paying with cash In regard to her French friends and American culture ,no other country has packed so much history in such a short amount of time and advanced as quickly as the USA . In less than 200 years we went from riding horses to riding in a vehicle on the moon We invented jazz ,the blues,rock and roll and the greatest composers in the 20th century were American ( Cole Porter, Irving Berlin )

I don't know that I've ever seen a video where someone gave good examples of how American sales taxes work. In the case of this one, she says 5 cents for $2 dollars, but then $250 on $2000. It's head scratching. She is correct about the nearly countless jurisdictions that can levy sales taxes and how they can vary from place to place within the same state and even within a county. There are even a handful of states that don't even levy a sales tax at the state level, though those states may allow individual municipalities to levy taxes. That said, there is a general range of tax rates that can be expected with some outliers in some places on either the high end or the low end. In my travels across the USA, I find most tax rates to be in the 6-9% range. So, in the case of the higher range (9%), that $2 candy bar would be $2.18, and that $2000 electronic would be $2180.

Tipping is generally 18-22% after taxes. Serves have to pay taxes on the whole bill. Sometimes you will hear don't tip for the alcohol this is wrong also. Also, visiting the east coast we generally get less than $3.00 an hour, so your tips really pay our bills, not our shopping habit. Lol On the west coast their wage is higher, but so is there cost of living. I'm listening to her and I caught another thing, about sales tax on everything, each state is different. If you want to grab some new clothes in America, Pennsylvania has no sales tax on clothing!

Indigenous ceremonial site Painted Rock in California's Carrizo Plain National Monument (Currently Superblooming) Has hundreds of images are thought to be remnants of the Hohokam culture from about 300 to 1400. None of the roc is painted. Hundreds of petroglyphs are etched or pecked into the basalt boulders. Also, Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, named for its prominent outcropping of marbleized limestone containing roughly 1,185 mortar holes, has been occupied by humans for over 10,000 years. Chaw'se is the Miwok word for the mortar cups that formed in a stone slab as the Miwok people pounded acorns and other seed into meal. The largest chaw'se example can be seen at the park.

It has long been my view that American history begins with European history, especially English, since this country began with English colonists breaking away from the mother country. So, in addition to native American history, your history on that side of the Atlantic is also our history. As a result, we have SO much history.
@kellyhinson4221

Just like Europe and any other country in the world, ancient peoples and cultures were prevalent in the Americas long before native tribes, Vikings, Europeans and possibly the Chinese (west coast) ever stepped foot on this continent and long before American colonies. The USA is very young but the continent's history goes back millennia.

I really enjoy your channel. I'm heading to the UK for a few weeks in a month. I've been to London and Edinburgh ONLY but I'll be driving all over the UK for a few weeks in May. As an American, I can say everything this young lady said was 100% FACT. Tipping: ONLY tip for services where you are being serviced while seated. Tipping for good service is normally 20% MAX but don't feel obligated to tip 20% especially if you had horrible service. I've seen many places like ice cream parlors, some fast food places and coffee shops try to get into the tipping culture. They flip the ipad over so you can tip and sign for your meal / ice cream. There is an option for NO TIP and dont be afraid to choose it. Also, DO NOT TIP ON THE TOTAL BALANCE. TIP only on the balance before tax. The tipping thing in America is really getting out of control and most Americans are over it. I'm writing for Los Angeles. :-)

its basically in sit down restaurants & bartenders....don't worry since basically everything is done through electronics it'll ask you for tip with options....usually I leave a $5 bill for a sit down restaurant no matter what the total is unless its a fancy restaurant or big group of people....definitely don't bring up politics or religions or gun control or abortion....no if someone tries to talk about any of those topics either just say you don't want to talk about it or just excuse yourself from the conversation & just walk away....it's really not that hard with sales tax cus its usually between like 50 cents to a dollar or two more....we have tens of thousands of history cus of the Native American Tribes & there's still plenty of historical places that you can visit to see that & the tribes still exist & have their own territory of the states called reservations....St. Augustine is the oldest city continually inhabited city in the United States....don't do the tourist things....do the local things

I used to work in a convenience store and my coworkers could tell what kind of day I was having when a customer would ask me how much an item was with tax. On a good day I'd do a little math in my head and tell them. On a bad day I would explain that in our area there is seven percent sales tax and go into a super long-winded explanation about how to figure it out, ending by giving them the answer. I would only ever do that to locals of course.

Walking on somebody's yard or let's just say on their property. It's very easy to do because usually there's no fence, But you will notice that most of the people's lawns are very well up kept, They work very hard to keep them looking that way, And if you walk on it, It ruins the lawn and they have to work that much harder to fix it back up. This is why they might yell at you or scream at you to get off their lawn. A lot of people they wouldn't even care or think twice about somebody that stepped off the payment on to their lawn to get around a water puddle or something. They wouldn't even think about it, But then there are those people that you know who they are, They're just looking for anything to yell at someone because they're having a bad day.😎 Just think about it some people spend a lot of money and time fixing up their lawn to make them look nice. And then have somebody walking on them, I think you would get a little upset also if you spent a whole bunch of money to make your lawn look nice and then somebody walks on it and makes it look like crap.🤔

Waitresses have to live off of tips because they only make $2.13/$2.35 an hour in most places in North Carolina. It is actually $2.13 an hour in Winston Salem NC. In some restaurants they actually make the waitress share tips with the busboys and other employees on an hourly wage. It is definitely not enough money to live on. So if you figure $2.13 an hour and that person works 40 hours so they're lucky to make $80 a paycheck 😮🤦🏼‍♀️.

Ehh, tipping is meh. You don't have to. At least in Texas most servers make liveable wages nowadays and if you feel they don't deserve a tip then either don't give them one or make it $1. Also if you come to Texas go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. You won't regret it one bit. Also also if you're afraid of rollercoasters, don't be. They are extremely safe. A great first rollercoaster to ride at Fiesta Texas is The Goliath and then Superman along with The Iron Rattler. I tell people this all the time that if you can get yourself on to one then the rest will be easier and you will heavily enjoy your time.
