As I understand it, Delta recruits it's members from the various spec ops forces (green berets, SEALS, marine recon, etc), so if I had to guess I'd say Delta is probably the most elite.

And on top of completing the 37 weeks Paramedic Cert course, the only military medics that do so, they also complete Army Airborne school, SERE, HALO, Combat dive school, Navy diving & salvage, and Special Warfare training. THEN after almost 2 years of that training they have another 22 weeks of testing and training working all those skills together in addition to field medical care and tactics, mountaineering, shooting, combat tactics, advanced parachuting, and helicopter insertion/extraction qualifications. The military is split into 3 categories. Tier 3, tier 2 and tier 1. Tier 3 is your regular military personnel like army, marine, air force and navy. Tier 2 are the special forces within the branches like for example the us army rangers or marine raiders and navy seals. Tier 1 is where it gets complex but its essentially a step up from tier 2 units but are completely different in a way. For example tier 1 would consist of delta force, ISA, Devgru, seal team six, 101st para rescue and a few others but all of them are assigned different objectives and commands. ISA would be considered the most classified of the group since they are within the CIA or perhaps an entirely different entity. But nobody really knows who is the most elite. Im pretty sure there are commands and forces we've never heard of as they kept under wraps.

It's tough to single out one of the Elite units as the best because they all have their roles to fill & have have specialized training. There's some that you hear about more than others. There's tv shows & films based on them - but remember that they are entertainment & not necessarily exactly what happened or how their missions are run. I am sure lots of actual specific military procedures are still kept under wraps for their protection & covert mission abilities. I went to school with many who joined the military after graduation (in all branches - even Coast Guard since I live an hour from the Duluth/Superior Ports on Lake Superior) & I know that some were SEALs, Green Berets, etc. There's a strong military history in my region with the Great Lakes & the Canadian border so close - my Dad & other extended family members have served as well as neighbors & family friends. We have quite a few National Guard Units up here in Northeastern Minnesota & there's an Air National Guard base in Duluth, so I know many people currently & retired from the Guards. I would like to Thank our Military members for their Service - Freedom isn't Free & my family is grateful for you all! We would live in a completely different world without our Military members.

All of these units mentioned in this video are Operators but not all are tier 1 Special Operators. But in the end the most beautiful woman or man in the world is a matter of opinion. However, tier 1 special operator like Delta or Dev Gru are amongst the most elite. ISA is an intelligence gathering group, because of the nature of their work and how they must operate they must be able to setup, disassemble, and if necessary, fight their way out of deep enemy territory. Since many special operators do similar work and operate with intelligence ISA provides, it is beneficial to recruit special operator like Delta and Dev Gru. Cuts down on training time and they come with experience as well.

Hi, I'm a former US Marine and I can answer your question about horseback riding in US special operations... Yes horses were used much widely in the military in the past however special operations teams are trained to use horses and donkeys when conducting mountain warfare... Animals can go farther and survive longer in high altitude mountainous environments far better than any vehicle can. I would say that mainly army green berets are primarily trained in modern combat while using horses and pack animals... The most recent use of horses were in the wars in Afghanistan where Green berets and various special operation units would ride horses alongside allied tribal forces in the mountains of Afghanistan. There are many accounts of US special forces teams patrolling the mountains in Afghanistan on horseback.

I'd say Delta is the most elite. One of the reasons for this is because a lot of them are chosen because they are the elite of other elite forces. But they may seem more elite due to most of there operations being classified. You don't hear many stories about their escapades. The seals are right there with them though. The truth is one force may not be any more elite than another. They all do specialized things. They all have specialized training. They're all tough guys. It takes all of them to keep us safe. I'm just happy that there are still guys out there willing to do this stuff. They are truely the best among us and elite human beings.

My guess before watching is Delta Force due to the combination of their training and the relatively small size of the unit, but the Navy SEALS are also up near the top due to their intense training and successful missions.

What is so deadly about Delta Force is because they recruit from all branches of the us military so you could have someone who can be an engineer that is also trained to do everything else that a special operator can do

Horses and donkeys were used in the mountains of Afghanistan. Sometimes the choice was a horse or a donkey or a chopper - if the chopper wasn't available your choice was made. Not sure if Green Berets are still trained on horses - but I know 5 years ago they were.

I think you may have misunderstood the term “support” in regards to the Rangers. They aren’t support troops. They are elite light infantry that conduct their own missions in support of a Strategic objective, Or as part of the plan on a tactical battlefield. That is how they support. BTW, the vast majority of the American troops in the battle of Mogadishu were Rangers. They supported the mission objectives in a direct action role. I hope that helps.

When it comes down to support, Rangers, Berets, all of them are direct SF forces. A huge part of the difficulty of their job is imbedding

I’m assuming they roped DEVGRU into the Navy seals. DEVGRU or Seal team 6 as it’s more commonly known is the elite tier 1 spacial force of the seals.

I am retired from the U.S. Army. I believe that Delta is the most elite unit. If you heard the Delta operators come from other elite units, ie special forces or rangers as an example, so then you go to the selection course for Delta force. I have been to a Delta force selection briefing, but by my choice did not attempt to go on to the selection process.

You should check out Air Force Pararescue (PJ) training. Their selection course, better known as 'Indoctrination' is basically a shorter version of BUDS, which the Navy SEALS go through. But it's just as hellish and unforgiving in my opinion. After Indoc they start a very long pipeline of training which isn't as physically demanding but it's just as tough in other ways, if I remember correctly it's a 2 year long pipeline of training. I joined the AF to be a PJ because their motto "That others may live" really resonated with me, I started working out and ran every day in prep for it. But after a while I lost motivation and quickly realized that kind of thing isn't for me, so they stuck me in AMMO, basically that means I built bombs and missiles for a living. My new motto may as well have been "that others may die" 😂. I went from wanting to save lives to building some of the most destructive weapons in the US arsenal. Uncle Sam has quite a sense of humor!

It's most definitely Delta. They conducted a ton of singleton missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Look up Shrek McPhee. If a bad guy dies of a heart attack or similar somewhere in the world, you can almost guarantee that it was Delta induced.

Id personally (to my limited knowledge) say that the Stormtroopers of WW1 on the side of germany were the first special forces unit. They were the utmost elite and fearless soldiers of the german army whose sole purpose was to reach, take, and breakthrough enemy trench lines by any means necessary. Some ran with mortars, rocket launchers and machine guns. Basically anything they could use to break through the lines.

once upon a time. A seal team was deployed for security to Commander Pacific Fleet during his port visit to Vladivostoc USSR. The second highest ranking officer in the US Navy. They were dressed up as a television video crew for the Navy. The leader was walking around the ship taking video of everything he could . He said I dont know how to use this camera but by the time I get to Vlad I will. He never identified himself or any of the team as Seals but You could bounce a coin off any part of the bodies . Navy journalists are in that kind of shape
