Phly, HESH rounds are in face better against fortifications, since they to not shrapnel like traditional HE rounds do, and the shell casing does not desintegrate to kill anyone close to the explosion like a HEAT round would, the explosion would mainly focus on the target and anyone within close proximity would only be affected my an air blast while the fortification would take the bulk of the force.
Wrong. It's a gun platform with a breakthrough/tank destroyer cannon fitted onto it. It's closest to a T-95 for comparison,but it doesn't have the armor. I know you're trying to be funny but it's pretty obvious that it's a tank destroyer/breakthrough.
Man this takes me back. When I started WT this is what I decided to grind for. It was such a meme machine. No armor. Huge gun. You didnt need to aim if you could throw a refrigerator full of dynamite 4 miles down range.
I do not believe this was envisioned as a tank. It has more characteristics of a SPG, look at the spade at the rear for gun emplacement. Also the crew door at the rear of the turret. Turret has limited traverse like most SPG's. I think it is a real reach looking at this vehicle as a tank. What do you think Phly, looks like fun though...
Chuck Lewis it is a SP AT gun, it was designed out of fear of large numbers of IS series tanks. this was to give brits the 1st shot capacity. they where told not to fire without the entrenching bucket down, the shock of recoil damaged the drive shafts.

In open ground they can get 3 to 4 shots each off in a unit of 3 tanks, each capable of destroying a tank per shot, that's 12 to 16 Heavy tanks before they can be retaliated against When the enemy closes normal Centurions would flank and engage to allow FV4005s to relocate and fall back The "Armour" is only there to protect the crew from Artillery shell splinters, the only weapon that would be able to reach them.
Well, the Yamato does have space for assisted loading. Dunno how you can get a 183mm shell into the breech in a reasonable amount of time in that sort of turret.
PoisoningShadow671 quite easily. 2 loaders alternating and a hydraulic shell rammer. there is far more room that you think in that turret, one is on display at Bovington in the UK. it was designed for ergonomic use, the reason it's only 14mm thick (in some places only 8mm) is it was a weather shield so crew efficiency didn't drop. the original design was only 4 crew and with a 3 shot auto loader allowing 3 shots 18 secs apart but only carried 12 rounds, the stage 2 trail showed 2 gunners could sustain 24 seconds per round for 5 minutes carrying 24 rounds and 1 in the breach. as for the Yamato, her main guns averaged 1 and a half rounds per minute per barrel.

Phly, HESH actually WAS originally developed for fortifications and demolition. The effect it has on armor is called 'spalling'. The shot doesn't actually penetrate, it just causes what's basically a wave of pressure to move through the metal and cause it to fragment off inside.

Wait, why doesn't this thing get full turret traverse? Because of the recoil? If so that's bullshit, because the KV-2 if fired directly sideways would break the turret, can traverse.
Sir Stefan Channel! This tank somehow has a faster reload than kv2 which does not make any sense at all. It should realistically be over a minute long reload. Also the turret traverses ridiculously fast for its size.
On top of the lack of space, the KV-2 did however have a unreliable turret, often jamming when fired at certain angles, but the late KV-2 turret weighed a rather fair amount, as well as being a manual turret. the FV 4005 however as stated previously, had far more room inside, with a large but rather light turret, with a automatic drive. And yes, the turret was limited in traverse to prevent possible toppling of the vehicle. Just look at the historical record of the M551, that thing knows all about recoil.
The kv2 has the same amount of loaders as the fv4005 and the shell of the fv 4005 weighs more than twice the weight of the kv2 shell. Having more room in the turret doesn't make the shell any lighter

all of these vehicle that you criticize as "history my ass" are either prototypes or from blueprints, and they are part of history, if the war lasted longer (or they changed their minds) they could have seen service.
Driver Gunner Chalenge: this requires two people and a lot of coordination. One person tows the other tank but can't fire his gun, while the other shoots but can't drive. The goal is to get 5 kills in one game, if one person dies you can't fill their position. They can however come back to whoever is alive and continue the challenge after respawning. Doesn't matter what tank you and your partner use but it has to be the same tank (ex. IS2 towing an IS2 that's firing). Attempt #9
I dont know if Phly knows, but HESH is used for demo purposes because, unlike regular HE shells, HESH doesnt send shrapnel everywhere, and I believe by the time that this tank(?) was designed, spall liners and spaced armor were being uses a lot making HESH not that effective against tanks. But this is War Thunder so that goes out the window anyway
I know this videos been out for a while, but felt that I needed to make a correction. HESH was designed for anti-fortification, not anti-armor. It just turned out to work well for anti-tank.
HESH was a very effective anti fortification munition, hence why its still valued over HEAT by the British Army. This was designed for anti-fortification roles primarily, rather than anti tank.

actually, good point you talking about the round, if that round would hit a tank anywhere it would've been destroyed. I once found testfootage of an SU-152 firing into a jagdtiger and a ferdinand hull for testing and it completely ripped open the tanks, and that was with HE, imagine a 183mm HESH round.

Had a blast with this tank in AB difficult to start with but oh so much fun. best match 8 kills plus 2 aircraft. It's a monster but not without it's challenges long live british derp gun. Like the KV2 but without the armor
hey phly i was shocked seeing you get 7 kills in a game once and i never got anything like that until i got the russian m4 and i got 4 kills right after another i didnt know until it was over then i followed it with 3 more after shocked me so much
Challenge: take out any tier 3 or 4 medium tank, equip an equal amount of all the shells available, and switch the type of shell to the next shell type every time you shoot.
