British Destroyer "Daring" Review - World of Warships Blitz 

I obviously have only a fraction of games in it so far, since I don't own one, but I agree, it's a good ship. Personally, it's not so much about the damage, it's more that she's a very good allrounder. That said, I think the "best" label is hard to apply. E.g. in a competitive scenario, against good players, she can certainly do some elaborate things with the torps, but in random games (which is mostly what I focus on during reviews), I feel her more as a "team support" ship. Coming from support cruisers, she's a natural fit - I often don't go damage farming, since I'm busy contesting caps, drawing fire, hunting DDs - I find it surprising how few DD players at T10 use their guns effectively - and things like that. She's not really the best in any department, but she's super versatile, and that's why it's a fun ship for me.

It's a good ship, but I think it depends a lot on what kind of games you play. In a random battle, without divisions, and the necessity of fancy torpedo patterns to overcome highly skilled opponents, she's good in everything, but there are better (or at least equally good) DDs in my opinion. Gunboat? Delny or Z. HE spammer? Haru or anything Soviet. Stealth torp boat? Shima or Yueyang Daring for me is like Gearing - not the best at anything, but also not bad at anything. Multirole. Fun ship, and you can do some things with the single fire gimmick.

Yeah, the guns are glorious, despite their low calibre. With APCS, she can reliably pen enemy DDs, and that's not something you necessarily want to face in most things

That would require a battleship to sail in a straight line, otherwise that'd be trivial to dodge. But yes, single fire opens up a lot of possibilities that you otherwise don't have, which, to a degree, can compensate for the lower damage. That said, I generally go guns blazing, since they're just too good :)

Yeah, could have been longer. As it is, you can use it to cover a hasty retreat or a turn, but against anyone who doesn't have the attention span of a kitten, it's pretty much useless. Even a CV can just cycle around without losing planes.

You can probably do some fancy things in DD duels, like a super-narrow spread against a nose-in enemy, that's true. I think Daring has some interesting options in more competitive or division play, whereas I'm usually reviewing on the base of casual player / random battles. She's good, and I'm certainly having fun in that ship, but I'm also not playing as a torpedo boat, the guns are just too much fun to be neglected :)

Btw, loved your intro! And that was really bad played from Malta and this was good for u and ur team. Malta spent 4 or 5min trying to sink u, and doing no damage to others, and few to u. And finally, in the end, you appeared to spot him and being in range to make pay him back. This is daring ❤

yes, you can do quite a few fancy single fire patterns. The more I look at it, the more I think Daring is a DD for more competitive play. I find that in randoms, if I start trying fancy things like laying traps, mostly it doesn't work because the player I'm targeting literally just has the attention span of a kitten and moves around erratically :) So yes, I absolutely enjoy Daring. It's a good multirole ship, and as a cruiser player, I'm right at home. The things that don't work for me are the speed - I've honestly been considering running a speed build, it's infuriating - and the poor AA. Yes, I can keep a CV busy, and again, this might be my support cruiser bias, but I'm expecting something with a defAA to be able to actually shoot down the occasional plane :D AP against DDs works once you have APCS. Without that, you need to weakpoint-target for reliable pens. I haven't tried IFHE, and the HE damage isn't bad, nothing like the German spread, so it's legit to use it - I go for AP against DDs for maximising DPS. I'm nowhere near on my personal account, still at T7, I think, but I'll certainly pick this one up on press again for fun.

The single fire torps can be used quite effectively in certain situations, e.g. against DDs at close range. She doesn't really have a lot of weaknesses, making her a good allrounder. I think the idea of "best ship" is flawed. Best ship for what? A Shima is a better torp boat. A Halland has better AA. A Delny is a better HE spammer. Daring, for me, is like Gearing - an overall good ship, but not outstanding in any one capability

Completely agree, Daring needs some skill to be successful. I'm coming from light cruisers, so I have a tendency to play around "support cruiser" roles, even in ships that don't necessarily excel at it :) The single-fire torps are nice, but there's a temptation to drop them all in a line, which isn't always the best option. With other DDs, you can still get 90% on target with narrow spreads, and they do more damage.
