Exactly! What's next, they walk into a Waffle House? Someone local help ol' Danny boy out...local restaurants will give you so much more, stay away from these trashy chain restaurant like this.
I’m English but have learned the American ways. Hash browns are usually very plain, in this country people cover them with salt pepper and ketchup. I’ve never been a fan of Dennys. The person who made the comment “you don’t go to dennys, you end up at dennys “ is completely correct. It’s always been mediocre in my opinion.
@@themonkeyhand I was going to mention that in my post about hash browns being very plain. Yes Waffle House you can get them covered in all kinds of tasty stuff.
The girl said “ pew” and “yuck”. Over and over. It was Danny’s breathe I think. The boy kept saying “ it smells like poop” when Danny would laugh or look at him and talk. He also said a Lot of pews as well
Denny's is hit or miss... as with any chain family restaurant it depends on the kitchen staff prepping your food. There's a whole bunch of Denny's here in Ontario, and some are merely okay, a couple are bad (like your experience) and a few are actually pretty good. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us... love seeing you and your family Danny!
@@citybuilder1013 Dennys in Japan is a different company but even so mediocre American chain restaurants are better overseas. Pizza Hut is awesome in Germany as they are legit eat in restaurants. Same with McDonalds and Burger King.
@@kiriakoz As I mentioned, I agreed this was a miss (obviously)... but not every Denny's is created equal, and some are actually quite good. It all who depends is cooking..
I could tell from the second that she poured the corn syrup, Summer was going to hate the pancakes. Putting food colouring in doesn't make it maple syrup. And the pancakes were dry. That was margarine on the toast instead of butter. Danny is a magnificent human being with a gorgeous family, Denny's is not worthy of them.
George is hilarious. His timing is perfect. His effortless jokes are always appreciated. Yes as an American, Denny's is the absolute last place to eat breakfast. Burgers are alright sometimes. Nothing can beat a proper English back home. Cheers.
I have to say, the English Breakfast does look pretty good. The British know how to make a decent sausage. It's the black pudding, mushrooms and puddle of beans that put me off.
Hi Danny, a Brit in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦, hope you'll visit us in Canada soon, luv the Channel! Btw nobody here goes to IHop or Dennys, just for the tourists, take care pal
Did your son actually say the sausages looked like a “log that came out of someone“ lol? i’m laughing my ass off right now! That is indeed how Denny’s makes those sausages
That quote from george "calm down sommer your gunna be off your nut " when she was pouring syrrup lol had me in stiches 🤣 we had dennys on international drive it was shocking always rushed food was cold. Hope you tried shake shack unreal food there 👌
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, my family and I would occasionally go to a Denny's in West LA. Breakfasts were pretty good back then. There were toasters at every table so you could have your toast the way you liked and there was always plenty of butter or marg on hand. To be fair, presentation was never Denny's forte but the food was ok. Looked like you could have done with some red sauce (tomato ketchup) or something...especially on the eggs and burger.
This will be a trip they remember forever, I still remember going Orlando for the first time and universal studios. I am American so I cant imagine how it is to be british and coming here as a kid haha. must've been like a movie
Thirty years ago just going to McDonald's was like a movie! It used to be somewhere kids went for their birthday as they were so rare and everything American was celebrated in the 1990s. Things have changed a bit since then, there's a McDonald's in every town and several in every city. More people dislike than like McDonald's these days. I still like McDonald's but I know it's trash food and it's worse than it used to be in the 90s. Disney World/Land and Universal Studios are still high on the list for most British people, I LOVED IT when I was a kid, but again it's not quite the draw it used to be. California (I've been a couple of times) and Florida are two of the most popular holiday destinations for the UK and Ireland, more British and Irish middle-class families will visit at least once in their lifetimes than not visit. We still love America but sadly the American Empire has been in decline for the last 40-50 years, along with the standard of living of the American middle-class family. The competition from other places is higher than ever before. The main draw for British and Irish going to the states these days is having nice weather and lots of facilities in a place that speaks English! I have family in the states and I've always loved what America stands for (or used to stand for), so it's heart-breaking to see what's happened in the last 20 years. If you'd asked me in the 1990s my two ideal places to live outside the UK would have been California and Canada (a beautiful place that's kind of a halfway house between the US and UK). If you asked me today, you couldn't pay me to live in California. Nixon started it in the 70s (Nixon Shock), Reagan accelerated the decline of the American middle classes in the 80s (Reaganomics), Clinton unleashed the universal banks at the end of the 90s (GLBA, CFMA), Bush destroyed the reputation of America in the 2000s, Obama was the prophet of false hope, Trump the great divisor (how we miss him now though, right?) and Biden has put the nail in the coffin for American supremacy. I hope and pray y'all can recover and rebuild what was once the greatest country on earth. God Bless you and God Bless America!
@@tuxedot7949 Idk bro I like seeing the different branded snacks, and stores. different ways countries do roads and intersections. The food differences all that
Danny, you're right about Denny's. I live here in the US & have been there many times. It's a chain restaurant that you go to when there's nothing better around, plain & simple.
Well, Tampers, there used to be some decent gaffs in Albion at one time, they're all slop houses now, ya need to be half cut to eat it. Most people are now, btw.
Glad that you gave a good, honest review Danny. I am a Leeds lad that lives overseas and the food sometimes is disgusting, yet the locals give 10 stars everytime in order to boost tourism and sales. It's so important to get an honest review in a foreign country. I have been slated by the locals for been negative, but am always honest. Malta by the way everyone!
Denny's has always been very nostalgic for me. First went on my first Disney trip back in 1981 and every time I go back to the US I have to go. It's a shame that you had a bad experience. Never been for breakfast, but it's always been good for dinner and never had any complaints. It's cheap and cheerful and will never win awards for gourmet cooking.
I just wanted to say that I love that you respect your kids if they don't want to be filmed you don't film them just shows what a great person/dad you are! As for Denny's well maybe 30 odd years ago it was great but from what I have seen and heard lately its downhill but at least you have tried it so no need to ever go back again.
Never had breakfast at Denny’s but when travelling thru USA and Canada I did have dinner at several different ones. Liked the turkey dinner and pancakes. Reminded me of little chef in England in the 70’s.
Ha! Ha! That says it all. Little Chef was a drive past There is a few like these. Best little café 's are where the workmen go. Maybe not all done up with neon light's, but the food is usually spot on.👍👍
I remember the Onion had a story when Obama was about to take office after his "hope and change" campaign with the headline "Obama Drastically Scales Back Goals For America After Visiting Denny's"
I went to two different Denny’s one close to LAX and that was average for service the breakfast was ok although I preferred the pancakes at ihop but the dennys by the old golden state warriors stadium in Oakland was amazing for service I had the best service in my whole trip to America at Denny’s I think it’s dependent on location and how busy they get which server you get but it was 4 years ago and I still remember how amazing she was
Hi Dan, the first time we went to Orlando (we are brits in West Wales) was 1985, our son was 5. We have been back around 14 times since. On the first trip our first breakfast was at a Dennys 🙂 as the years went by we realised that there are much better option available, we particularly like Bob Evans for a traditional country American Breakfast. International drive is 100% for tourists and the service is now really really poor especially if you are from Europe as we are all renown for being bad tippers.
As an American, I apologize not only for Denny's, but for anyone who might have recommended Denny's. The ONLY legitimate purpose Denny's serves is to get something greasy to help soak up the booze after the bars close. In the South where there are Waffle Houses, there's no need to go to Denny's at all!
Dennys is number 1. In my land disrespecting Dennys is like calling a black guy the n word. Or going to your children’s parent teacher conference Nd you go in a tangent on how school shootings are fake and parlay it into no Jews died in the holocaust. That’s what you’re doing. Please stop
very true, and as an american who was raised in a european immigrant family i really hate american "factory" bread.... american bread is loaded with sugar and oil to keep it "fresh" longer than 1-2 days so it can be sold weeks later.
That is a gross generalization. Sure, if you are buying cheap, crappy white bread like wonder bread or something. There are plenty of better, more healthy options to choose from. If you are eating the crap, that's because you chose it. You make it sound like that is all we have here. "American bread"
If you'd like a recommendation to try... Years ago I went to Maggiano's Little Italy, close to Denny's actually on Iternational Drive. Pretty restaurant, huge menu, huge portions and great service and atmosphere, we loved it anyway. My favorite thing was the Crispy Zucchini Fritte in the starters section, never had anything like it. We were stuffed and had alot of leftovers. If your family likes Italian food I think they'd really enjoy it.
Dennys is the best restraunt I’ve ever been too. A guy was nice enough to spray a handful of quarters on the road and I darted in and out of traffic collecting them and went to dennys. They didn’t even take my change for the meal as they said “ it was all gross”. 10/10. And I took all of the condiments and wrecked the toilet.
You have to keep in mind that Denny’s is where you go after you’ve been drinking all night and you just need some comfort food. IHOP actually has a much better breakfast.
@@cyoohoos Waffle house is good. Except if you live on the West Coast, there are none. Mostly the southern states enjoy it. Although Arizona does have 15 locations.
Nice that’s where we went we stayed in Florida we stayed in oasis lakes we called in Denny’s in orlando could be the same one this was years ago it was good we enjoyed it lovely service had some tuna bake thing can’t remember what it was enjoy enjoy your hols too
Honestly it just depends on what chef is working on what shift. I've been before and it was like a 5 star restaurant and have gone the following week and had your experience.
Try Millers ale house (steak burgers are amazing) and also Black Angus steak house which is attached to monumental movieland hotel. Amazing steaks! Hope having a really good time in Florida!! Love it there so much!
