OB Daz and Aidan react to the reasoning MLB is the most watched league in sport. Link to original video: • Why More People Go To ... socials: officeblokedaz
The regular season lasts 6 months and over that time each team will only have 19 days off and they spend much of that time traveling. It truly is a marathon.
I grew up playing baseball. It's The American sport. Nothing I love better than sitting at Drillers Stadium with downtown Tulsa in the background. Its home.
i had a coworker who went to white sox games specifically for food. her boyfriend was a big baseball fan but she got excited for games just to get drunk and eat.
I would rather go to a baseball game any day over an NFL game, even though I'm a bigger NFL fan. Baseball games have a fun and relaxing atmosphere. NFL games are way better to watch at home
Not only was I "here at the start", but I subbed the original Office Bloke's channel when it was at 12k! I'm a huge fan of the Ball Family! Hello from The Woodlands!
The ticket price varies by season and by stadium. I went to Cubs games a lot in Chicago and in April I can get pretty good seats (100 section) within 50 dollars, but now enter June, the cheapest ticket in the stadium is 40 dollars.
Baseball historically was the main sport and still remains extremely popular. In St. Louis we recently got a soccer team and it is wildly popular so far. Baseball is cheap to go to (as far as tickets) so it makes sense it still draws despite the rise of other sports.
The guy who bought the Mark McWire ball was comic book artist, Todd MacFarlane. He is known for his prolific work on The Amazing Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, and his own creation, Spawn. Sorry for geeking out.
All baseball games are fun for the whole family. There are minor league baseball games all over the country also, and they make them so much fun for families and kids.
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees broke the American League season HR record last season, hitting 62, and breaking the previous AL record of 61 set by Roger Maris of the Yankees in 1961. The MLB and National League season HR record is 73, set by Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants in 2001.
@@tidritblag9877 The same was said when Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth's single season HR record in 1961. At the time, it was said that it wasn't a real record because Ruth set during a 154-game season, and Maris broke it during a 161-game season. As long as MLB recognizes Bonds 73 homers as the record, that's what it is.
@@tidritblag9877 Judge set the American League record for HR's in a season. You DO have records in each league, as well as the overall record. Only 3 players have hit more HRs in a season than Judge.
@@michaelmcgowen8780 so again, it’s not a real record. It’s like throwing a parade for being the 4th largest vote getter in the presidential election. It’s fucking stupid.
Philly had no idea that there was a championship in soccer & we had a team that was in it. Grant it, Phillies were all the city could talk about and the Eagles were undefeated at that point in time. I know the Philadelphia Union (which doesn’t even play in Philly) has a group a supporters but Little League World Series gets better ratings than MLS here.
Tickets aren't THAT cheap across the board. But they're still cheaper than the NFL, NHL, and NBA. Soccer games in UK are still cheaper than going to NFL, NBA, or NHL games. The prices are insane at arenas.
I’m guessing this is an old video. Attendance is up to 2017 levels with several big weekends being some of the biggest since the early 00s and we aren’t even to the full summer yet where most of the fans start to come out.
Part of the "low attendance" the MSM articles forget is that a vast majority of games are weekdays, where it coincides with other events and priorities of people's schedules. But, even then, depending on the club, it could be a packed stadium.
I saw an sober poluhouse record rbi home run be caught in Detroit and the fan who caught it let me hold it and take a picture the ball is now in the MLB hall of fame
Bruh i'm embarrassed, as a european who loves basketball i taught mlb would lowkey be a little boring but omg, this looks like some of the most exciting shit ever. Can't wait to go to a game
Baseball is an event. It's definitely the most exciting thing to go to as a kid. There's a lot to do. It might be hard to get into if you go alone and don't understand the rules, but if you pick an evening/weekend game the atmosphere is great. Weekdays can be iffy because of sparse attendance especially if a team isn't doing too hot. It's the one sport you can choose to go to on a whim. Unless you're going into the playoffs or world series then you can usually rock up to the park right before a game and buy a ticket to get in.
It’s been engrained into American society and has turned into a cultural thing. Some people love the sport and go to the games, others go because they can bring their kids, and grew up with a parent or grandparent who would take them.
How about Americans just like baseball, contrary to what the haters say. Combined paid attendance between MLB and Minor League Baseball in 2022 was 90 million people.
@@loganleroy8622 No, what's your point? Unless you've spoken to all 335,000,000 of us individually and gotten an answer, how can you possibly make a definitive statement like you did?
baseball players run less than a fraction of 1 percent in a game as soccer players. really not comparable whatsoever as far as stress on the body per game. i don't like either sport but be objective about it.
Happy to see a reaction to a long-ish video. For MLB stadiums, I like YT channel Wide World of Stadiums video "MLB Stadiums"; for NFL stadiums, I like his regular (extended, not shortened) "NFL Stadiums" over his "NFL Stadiums Ranked."
I love going to Hockey games more than Baseball but it is pretty cheap to go see a minor league game for less than $20.00. I have a historical stadium nearby me in Connecticut where Babe Ruth played and hit him first home run in Bristol. Muzzy field. They charge $6.00 per person.
They play every day, except for the occasional travel day. Most double-headers are caused by rain outs. Gets expensive though. Especially when you include beverages and food. I think bleacher seats are the only "cheap" seats.
Baseball is one of the few sports that is better to be in person to watch. Most sports are more enjoyable on tv. Baseball is an event and only the slower pace of it is problematic. The new pitch clock has really sped the game back up to a reasonable time frame.
Those $7 tickets are definitely not at a Dodgers game, which start at around $35 for the worst seats and go up quickly from there. You can easily drop $500 for a family of four when factoring in parking and food. Still worth it, though.
Good video fellas. I can say from personal experience that it was always so easy to get into MLB games growing up. Not only were the tickets for my local Florida/Miami Marlins very cheap because they were dreadful, but my parents would often get free tickets from work. They didnt even work for the team or in the same line of work as each other, but it's not uncommon to find employers even to this day that will give local tickets to employees as a benefit.
That'll make the A's the only team to call 4 different cities home. Philadelphia, Kansas City, Oakland & Las Vegas. Braves, 3, Boston, Milwaukee & Atlanta.
Simple answer - the stadiums are massive If the Toronto Maple Leafs could play in something that size it would still be sold out every day 8:19 if they tried that today, it would just be a bunch of naked girls, Twerking 😂
😂😂😂low blow Daz!!! Not a big baseball fan but had free tix at citizen’s bank park nose bleeds. Had full view of field. We were so hi the temp had to be a few degrees cooler. Turned out to be a really nice day with my boys. Snacks had section to ourselves. I would recommend a game as a day out! Go Phillies!!!
The price for a game depends heavily on what team you are going to see. If you go to an Oakland A's game, yeah, $10 per ticket is correct, but if you want to go to Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park, you are talking $50 per seat minimum.
Baseball has so many games in a season compared to other sports. So way more games people can attend. NFL only plays 17 regular season games. And half of those are at home. So not many chances to catch a game. NBA/NHL has a decent amount of games but their arenas are much smaller.
Last year record breaker was Aaron Judge for the Yankees. BTW the record for home runs in a season is 72 by Barry Bonds, and I think he might be the all time HR record King.
@@tristanboudreau8447 Yup. He was a great hitter anyway, and then became a monster at the plate. Everyone else was doing it making him look average, so he said f*ck this and started juicing up himself. MLB new exactly what was happening but were happy to sell the cheap seats in the outfield to get fans back after the strike of 1994/5.
@@garymaiano1008 you make a good point. I’m curious how Babe Ruth would do on juice. The only training he had back then was beer and hot dogs. It’s a fun thing to think about.
@@tristanboudreau8447 You know your history well. He sure did live the most unhealthy lifestyle imaginable. Babe Ruth is still considered by everyone as the greatest baseball player that ever played. How can you not, what he did was incredible. Most players can’t swing the heavy bat he used. I’m a Brit by the way living in the USA now for 30 years. My mom and sister still live in London. Any questions, feel free to ask and I’ll try and answer them the best I can. I love your family, good people, I love your dad, he’s hilarious and a nice guy I can tell. All the best from Las Vegas.
@@prollins6443 everyone knows that raiders, warriors, and A’s fans are loyal. it’s not the fans fault for low attendance, it’s the owners and citys fault. do some research before saying dumb shit
@@bigjimmy6956 the raiders had 17 losing seasons in the 2000’s and still managed to fill the stadium on average saying they’re the worst fans is extremely idiotic
I don't know the last time I've sat in the actual seat I paid for, I usually buy a 3rd deck ticket for like 20 bucks walk down to the bottom of the 2nd level behind the infield. Nobody gives a shit because outside of the playoffs the seats are usually half empty
I did some math on this, even with the massive amount of games and relatively high attendence per game 28k. The mlb still gets stomped in revenue per team from ticket sales. Nfl is roughly 170m Mlb is 144.5 So 15% more revenue for 17 games compared to 162 games. I was curious i am not trying pump up the nfl or diss the mlb i just thought id put that out there they didn't touch on it in the video and its anothrr way to look at it.
Yes but your not taking into account the massive tv deal they get as well, sure so does the nfl but really it’s for one day (yeah Thursday night football is a thing but I think Sunday is still way more watched) compared to virtually every single night
Where they also get you in for parking.... alot of stadiums dont have public transit systems and some fanbases enjoy tailgating, so most baseball fans have to drive their car. I root for one of the worst teams in the league this year, and ya, my ticket is around $15 dollars, I have to pay 40 dollars just to park my car. So it evens out in other ways.
Before watching I could tell you it’s cause there are a freakin billion games. If there were only a thousand people at each game it would prob be the most attended. I like baseball alright but I can barely watch till the playoffs just too damn many unimportant regular season games
6:50 Not saying the Orioles are packing Camden Yards (getting better these days) but the editor cherry picked a clip from a game that was not open to spectators due to riots in the city. Why falsify evidence when there are plenty of real examples?
Why is MLB BB the most watched professional sport? They play 162 games in a season. Sport with the greatest average attendance per game? College football.
The A’s relocation to Vegas isn’t finalized. It’s a very contentious situation. Attendance usually depends on the city & how well or bad the team is doing. You two should definitely react to Baseball Doesn’t Exist regarding the 2023 season so far. It’s funny but you’ll get a better understanding of MLB stuff
it basically is finalized the nevage gov just signed a bill allowing it but i dont think it would change much for the A's as long as the same ownership is in control they are terrible
It looks like a done deal but if the city of Oakland really wants to keep the team for their constituents, they need to prove they can have the funds to build the new stadium at Howard Terminal. MLB does not want to get into a legal. There were like 30k fans when the Phillies played them in Oakland on Father’s Day, which also happens to be the seating capacity at the Vegas stadium. Montreal Expos, same situation. There wasn’t revenue sharings & social media wasn’t as big as it is now but MLB got lucky in 2004 & didn’t have to deal with the bad press.
He’d still be the owner if they relocated to Vegas. At least in Oakland there’s a fan base already. Besides, Fisher might sell after he get a new stadium, in either city.
Because there are 162 games a season. If neither the team or the opponent are good the stadium is half empty. Its dumb. They have all of these gimmicks at baseball parks because people are bored to shit.
