I’m from the south so I imagine that the way I see beans and toast is the way you see biscuits and gravy.

British have beans on toast and Americans have biscuits and gravy which makes each other confused. HAHA If you are in the USA, a common popular grocery store chain called Kroger's Grocery store has the UK Heinz beans in the blue can and also you can get Marmite and Branston pickle at Krogers also in the International aisle. I saw a 3-pack of small jars of marmite together in a 3-pack.

@@nickjreacts Nick I started eating beans on toast watching English videos. But you can have Red Beans and rice. My favorite white beans and Shrimp 🦐 ❤️😉👍. It's Crazy how many ways you can eat beans in America 🇺🇸. I hope someday you will come here. 😉❤️👍

We eat beans on toast in America. Depends on what part of the country a person lives in and their culture. You have to remember, America is HUGE with vast population/cultural practices.

We actually have pickles & gherkins in the US. At least here there's a distinction for type though. Growing up "gherkins" for me were small, sweet pickles that looked like baby dill pickles but tasted the opposite. I hated them because I kept thinking I'd get a salty briny dill pickle, and got a mouthful of sweet instead.

2:59 Well - Ok how do I put this. Tastewise it's probably alright - there are a lot of foods that look sort of unappetizing but end up being tasty. But when I see beans on toast the first thing that personally pops into my head is old fashioned military dishes like from WWII. One of them was essentially chipped beef in gravy on toast and everyone called it "Sh*t on a shingle" so....If you're asking "what it looks like" from the outside...

The closest I ever done to beans on toast is "beans with rice". Asian-American so that's my only equivalent. 1:19 at that one I think they just set it at the lowest setting and buttered it.

It seems to me that some of those American students aren't too familiar with American food as it is. Beans and toast (toasted bread - please) isn't really a food combination here. But, of course, everyone eats and enjoys toast. Who doesn't? And the beans part of the two is also very familiar here to most. Obviously, some of the students never heard of baked beans/pork n beans as I'd never heard them described as "disgusting", much like a four-year old would say. The same holds true with the pickles, the gherkins. Again, they probably had never heard of a pickle, let alone tasted one. As one of the students said, "Gherkins? I wouldn't eat anything called gherkins!". Totally unfamiliar with such types of food.

I tried beans on toast during COVID and I really like it and have it for breakfast sometimes. Haven’t tried marmite yet but I thought the Branston pickles were pretty good! I’ll eat almost anything, though 😂

While I am an American who is EXTREMELY PROUD of our cuisine (and may think better then British), this was a HORRIBLE selectoin to give them. When I was in the UK, a full Scottish Breakfast, a lamb stovies, fish pie, and of course, fish and chips, when cooked right (I stayed over a week) were quite delicious. This type of food is cr@p....
