I just wanted to say thank you so much for 1000 subscribers. I really appreciate it more than you will know. It means a lot to me but honestly the most enjoyable part of this channel has been the comments from people of the videos. I love reading through them all and learning so much more about the things I am watching. I might not get back to everyone but I definitely read through all the comments so thanks very much!! This video was awesome. Any sports fan will love rivalries and the intense competition they create. College Football definitely excels in that going by this footage. Tell me what the best rivalry is in College Football (and any other American sports) and why. Cheers!!

A few of the great rivalries: Army vs Navy, Michigan vs Ohio State, Texas vs Oklahoma, Florida vs Florida State, Georgia vs Florida, USC vs Notre Dame, Auburn vs Alabama. Sometimes coaches will get fired for losing to their rival too many times even if they are doing an ok job otherwise.

The clip at 3:00 is Ohio State and Michigan. I grew up on the state line between the two. They’ve been going at it since 1897. Supposedly the former Ohio coach, Woody Hayes, ran low on gasoline in Michigan one day. The rivalry was so intense that he refused to give them any gas money, so he promised to push his car back to Ohio. 😄 Actually, the 118th game is happening this Saturday!

Fun facts: 1. Michigan has the 3rd largest stadium in the world (behind India and North Korea) 2. The Michigan-Ohio rivalry is very old, not just with football either. They once went to war over a territorial dispute. If you wanted to watch a game I would highly recommend the upcoming Michigan at OSU game Saturday. Both teams are currently 11-0

10:55 There's only one tunnel at the Big House and because of a real nasty fight (assault), in the tunnel between Michigan and their other rival, Michigan State, the away team goes through the tunnel first when exiting the field. This is from last year when both teams existed the field together.

You should check out how loud these stadiums are. Just this year, Georgia vs Tennessee recorded decibel levels in the 130s. Several stadiums have registered on the Richter scale.

Check put one of the most infamous Rivalries/Games in History... It is referred to as "Catholics vs Convicts". It pits the University of Notre Dame vs the University of Miami. There is a really good Documentary by ESPN on it, under the same name "Catholics vs Convicts". The implications of that one game were enormous, but the story begmhind the game and the moniker are even larger.

there’s no way they didn’t show the big fight between South Carolina and Clemson in 2004. you gotta react to that if you like when teams get heated like that. they literally had to bring like a hundreds state troopers on the field and everything. they also don’t show it in the video but even the fans were fighting in the stands at the same time.

Michigan once went to war with Ohio over the territory that is now Toledo Ohio. Ever since then the states have been rivals. Their football teams are commonly in the top five adding to the rivalry. Being in the same conference means every year their game has national championship implications.

I'm in the marching band at Arizona and 2 days after this video has been posted, a fight at the end of the game between our team and our big rival Arizona State broke out while we were playing our fight song after a game-winning interception by our defense, then the crowd stormed the field. Weird experience but we got the dub. Bear down, go cats!

In the NFL, a player must be touched in addition to the other criteria to be considered "down by contact" In the clip between Texas and Georgia, 6:25, the quarterback was attempting to slide, which is a means of ending the play without the need for contact. This means he's defenseless and therefore any hit on him is illegal. For every clip involving Michigan, this team notoriously only has one tunnel for both teams to share. Previously this year a Michigan player made his way down the tunnel when multiple Michigan State players began fighting him. They've charged 7 players with assault, one player with felony assault. Most other stadiums have separate tunnels for each team

I think that you should do one on the Michigan vs Ohio State rivalry. It is one of the oldest and most heated rivalries in American sports. The game was first played in 1897, it is played annually as the last game of the regular season, and alternates between each teams home stadium each year. This year, both teams are 11-0. Michigan is #3 and the other one is #2 in the country, the loser will most likely drop to #5 and will be out of the playoffs barring a huge upset in the #5 USC vs #13 Notre Dame game or the #4 TCU vs Iowa State. This year, the game is being played in the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio, and if Michigan wins, it would be the 3rd time they have one in 22 years and the first time in Columbus since 2000. Double post. Michigan plays in 'The Big House.' It is the largest stadium in college football at 106K. But it has a a huge drawback that is it has one tunnel for both teams to enter/exit from. Just a couple of weeks ago a Michigan player was isolated by Michigan State players and the MSU players had a boot-party. Well, a cleat party actually. Just yesterday they announced charges for the MSU players I think it was six players had misdemeanor charges and one felony.

Fun fact: Georgia vs Auburn is called "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry". Oh and Georgia has at most 6 rivals: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Tennessee.

All of the tunnel fights were at University of Michigan, their stadium (most people call it the Big House), only has one tunnel for both teams and the two locker rooms are directly across from each other. Fights break out there ALL. THE. TIME.

Not only did that fake dog pee in the first clip lead to a penalty and missed extra point, it caused a chain reaction... yeah Ole Miss's coach got fired, BUT THEN Mississippi State's coach ALSO got fired after one of his players got injured in a fight prior to the bowl game (the one they got to go to as a result of their winning the rivalry game). As a result, both teams hired arguably two of the most entertaining coaches in current college football, Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss) and Mike Leach (MSU).

Firstly, WATP. Secondly, some of these rivalries are so incredibly petty. I love the pettiness, personally. Ohio State fans don’t say the word Michigan in the week leading up to the rivalry match. They call them TTUN. That team up north. The two states fought an actual war over Toledo. Ohio got Toledo. Michigan got the Upper Peninsula as a consolation prize. It’s not a good game usually but Miami and Florida International is a really feisty rivalry since they’re both in the same city and usually have kids that grew up playing against each other. Add in gang affiliations and yea.

Had a couple real wild moments this year in that Michigan tunnel. Penn State players throwing sandwiches at Michigan and at least seven Michigan State players catching assault charges for beating lone Michigan players in there.

Also something else to think about with college football. The rivalry can be more intense if the college football players were scouted from high schools that have rivalries. I live in Alabama and here’s an example: Alabama and Auburn are both in my state. Many of the guys know each other from high school and can bring their grudges with them. It gets nasty.

I played American Football for 8 years... I have talked to many friends who then went on to the US Armed Forces. They have told me football is the closest thing to war you'll ever get. Young men at 100% of their testosterone levels willing to put themselves into MAX physical danger to win. They do it for both their honor and for the honor of their teammates. - Old stadiums are built with team locker rooms near each other, newer stadiums are built differently. You have to remember some of this stadiums are nearly 100 years old.

The play at 5:07 where #2 in white throws the defender out of bounds and then uses his teammate to shove him to the ground again is great because it's a quarterback doing it. That's Eric Dungey, 4 year starter at Syracuse. He did a flying kick on a Miami defender while running with the ball 🤣. Dude was a very good player, but a menace. 🤣

Reason why Ohio State and Michigan go at it in the tunnel is because Michigan’s stadium only has one tunnel. It’s the biggest rivalry in college football and arguably in all of American sports. Since 1897 both these teams have hated each other and it’s always one of the few games I’ll always watch. I have no stake in both these teams, but I wouldn’t miss it for anything.

I know you don’t do much basketball, but you should react to the UNC-Duke “Tobacco Road rivalry” basketball video. It was made by the channel “Stadium”. As a UNC grad the rivalry between us is one of the best rivalries in sports. And it’s a fun video to watch.

there are a couple of different types of rivalries for college football. The intra-state rivalry is the most typical or obvious, where two schools from the same state duke it out for domination of their state. these can get pretty ugly (see Michigan State v Michigan this year) The border battles from schools on two sides of a state line tend to not be as bad in terms of fights, but can have a lot of historical heft to them (see Kansas v Missouri, which is essentially a continuation of a small war from the Civil War era) The last typical rivalry is the actual sporting rivalry, where two teams are really good and have a few years where their games decide the season (see LSU v Bama in the mid 2010s) Of course there are a ton that fit in multiple groups as well (see Ohio State v Michigan, which is a border battle as well as a season decider, as both teams are consistently good.)

The clip of the Georgia v Georgia Tech shows George Pickens throwing the punch. The name of the rivalry between these two teams is Clean, Old- Fashioned Hate. However Georgia’s rivalry with Auburn (The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry) is the one that makes my blood boil ever since the dirty hits from Auburn player Nick Fairley on Georgia QB Aaron Murray.

It's the Maize and Blue helmets with the wings on them against those silver and maroon or whatever that you saw fighting in the tunnel, the one's who ripped the helmet off. It's literally known as "The Game" when they play, and it's coming up Saturday, and they're both undefeated in the final game of the regular season ranked #2 and #3.

College football is thiccc with rivalries, however, and most of them are between Universities in the same State, or neighboring States, although there are some exceptions. Many have special trophies as well. Minnesota and Wisconsin play a yearly rivalry for a big axe that is one of the coolest trophies I've ever seen, for example.

Just some info from my own time in that gear. A punch still hurts the other guy. Not as much as it would without a helmet but enough to be painful and a little bit annoying. Plus a lot of the time you’re half smacking half shoving the helmet with your palm open, it’s pretty effective.

Fights are rare, mainly because they are kids representing the University. The Uni takes ZERO shit for fighting in football, especially when it’s a game where you can go out and knock someone’s head off legally. It’s a surefire way to get suspended from play or the school itself.

Some of the late 80's through the 90's florida/ florida state games were brutal. Same with florida state/ Miami. Especially when Bobby Bowden coached Florida state. One of the greatest and respected college coaches ever. Florida vs Florida State game is Friday @ 1930hrs eastern standard time here.

Ohio State Michigan rivalry extends all the way back to the states they come from. When the US was still forming, Ohio and Michigan were fighting over a port town called Toledo. It was given to Ohio as they became a state but Michigan was given the upper peninsula as compensation for losing the port. I live in and grew up in Alabama. The Iron Bowl (Alabama vs Auburn, also an Alabama team) is one of the most intense rivalries in American sports. Marriages and friendships are tested during Iron Bowl week. Alabama is the more successful of the 2 with 18 national championships, the most of the modern era, to Auburn’s 2, but the game itself is pretty much a toss-up. Over the last 40 years, the Iron Bowl is split 20-20. It’s gotten so intense that In 2010, after Auburn overcame a 24-0 halftime deficit to beat my Alabama Crimson Tide 28-27, a guy poisoned a pair of iconic trees at Auburn. Those trees are known as the Toomer’s Corner trees, and Auburn fans roll them with toilet paper after big wins. The man who did it was arrested and served a prison sentence.

Michigan and Ohio State got that close in the tunnel because Michigan is one of the last stadiums to have a single tunnel. I think that may change after this season when the Michigan State players jumped on a Michigan player 10 to 1 in the tunnel, and Penn State players were accused of throwing Peanut and Butter sandwiches at the Michigan team also in the tunnel. They at least need t divider put up down the middle.
