I a 15 year old, have been diagnosed with POTS five months ago and tomorrow I’ll be taking the tilt test in order to narrow down my triggers. Thank you for posting this video, it has made me less nervous for tomorrow.
@@aosozoxoco im currently in the process of getting diagnosed for it i've done the ecg which is fine, but my blood tests came back with low iron and vitamin b12 so i have to wait 4 more weeks now until i can get them done again to see if i still feel the same even with normal levels which is frustrating but it is what it is
I have suspected Pots. I can just tell that my symptoms will be non existent when I go for my tilt table, I've recorded my own heart rate on bad days, my resting varies from 70-80 but when I stand up it can go as high as 140. Im So scared the doctor won't believe me, I have CFS and getting that DX was an uphill battle
Depressingly, after 6 years of traveling and testing we are back to square one. Have a pacemaker in now. Canadian healthcare isn't the best. Some are saying it's Pots, others are saying vasovagal syncope. "Which doesn't make any sense since I'm an embalmer lmao" Blood etc does NOT trigger a fainting/seizure episode. Now they are thinking it's neurological, do to the absurd amount of sleep I need per day. I have no doubt it's POTS. All I do now is were my support stalkings, drink a "fuckton" of water per day, and drastically increased my salt intake to feel somewhat functional. ...... And apparently as of 2016 tilt test are no longer practical. "I guess they don't prove anything, and anyone can fail it on a bad day"- Quote of doctor I traveled to see. "imo bullshit" I can't even bend down and stand back up without wanting to hit the floor. Same with raising my arms. Got tested for Narcolepsy, Catalepsy, etc. I always faint in the summer outside. Heat is a trigger, I know it's POTs. Also, tend to enter fight or flight mod in the midst of sleeping. Wake up unable to lift a water bottle, can't scream out. Usually ends with me falling back to sleep. We have had my sugar tested and it's fine. It's like an unquenchable thirst. I will wake up and gulp down 2 water bottles in a heart beat. TL/DR I THINK IT'S POTS SYNDROME. LOW PULSE&BLOOD PRESSURE AFTER 8 YEARS DOCTORS DUNNO. SORRY FOR LONG REPLY.
I had a tilt table test today to diagnose POTS. They said it was inconclusive even though I had vomiting and felt like passing out but never did. That was like the worst torture I can imagine and I will never let them do that to me again
I got diagnosed with pots around the same time, i did end up passing out after the medicine so i missed most of the hard part but still i agree. it seems trivial if you don't have any health problems but i wouldn't wish a tilt table test on my worst enemy if they actually have a condition its trying to test for.
@@averybertram9832 I had mine this morning because I fainted for 3 seconds 15 months ago. My license got taken away and now I’m doing all these stupid tests. Agreed it was an horrendous experience and totally unnatural stance and experiment. I didn’t faint or feel dizzy but the discomfort and tightness of the straps was too much so I gave up after 20 mins. A ridiculous test and not natural at all.
i am having this test in a week and am nervous about falling off the table from balance problems due to cerebral palsy. on the other hand, this may be a fun ride, despite my hatred for riding rollercoasters
I’m a heart patient had two heart problems as a baby due to low calcium an low potassium and developed seizures an last seizures was in south Leicestershire college. Started fainting spells an vomit during lockdown but kept drinking lots water everyday and I’m good I think I got vasovagal syncope I’m keeping my chronic condition permanently forever no cures for me anymore I can handle it myself.
At my next doctors appointment I’m requesting a TTT. I already have a suspected diagnosis but I’m not confident enough to allow anyone to put it on paperwork. They did an in office test but I don’t fully trust it. I just want to know what’s wrong with me. If it’s not POTS I want to know if it is. I want to know. I’m 15 and I’m tired of not knowing what is medically wrong with me and why I feel like shit so much
in November 2019 i was told i had PoTs. the only test i had done was an active stand test and a blood test (i had a 24 hour heart and blood pressure monitor but the doctor never got given the results). the first time i saw him he was CONVINCED it was anxiety and that it was all in my head
@@moonlover9671 yes the TTT was done. I felt like utter shit doing it but it came back inconclusive. However I did still get my official diagnosis when I had a two week heart monitor that picked up all of my heart rate inconsistencies
My daily blood pressure is in the 170-200 with bpm in 60s My PG's are blinded by a system where BMI can be used for a lack of knowledge.. I thick I have AD on all the time...and had a lumbar injury ..If I put pressure on the vagus it will put my pressure up by 20 .. This is a test I probably need..
This looks like torture. I have POTS and havent had to do the TTT. But there’s no way in hell I’d allow this type of torture. Knowing what is experienced when standing up? That feeling you get when your brain is telling you that you need to lay down or do something fast and just having people staring at you HOPING you pass out or do something?? 🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️ I’d be so mad.
@@lysstopia Having obvious symptoms. My HR shoots up within seconds of sitting up or standing. I also have high blood pressure. HyperPOTS. Like it feels like my heart is working triple time 24/7 just to exist. I’ve had a CT done that came back normal and also wore a holter monitor for 3 days that only showed my HR spiking and tachycardia with movement. Laying down my HR is in the 80’s-90’s unless I have a weird episode where I go tachycardiac for no reason. They suspected pheochromocytoma at first. But tested me for that and said it was not that and my diagnosis was POTS. If I was to do a TTT I would go tachy immediately and probably pass out for the entirety of the test. So they didn’t even bother with it because it was obvious when doing the “poor man’s TTT” using the laying/sitting/standing vitals.
@@Pari_Pixie I’ve been trying for months to get a doctor to even consider a TTT after having a holter twice, passing out multiple times, and visible swelling in my legs, but they’re insistent it’s not necessary. They put me on 400 mg Toprol XL and expected everything to be fine.
Me too… but they said they have enough information so I don’t necessarily have to… I just kind of want to so the diagnosis will be on record but idk if I can bring myself to do it
@@jasmineleigh0328 Idk if you had your test already, but I just had mine today and the doctor was able to tell what was happening to me before I started feeling bad. She asked me: Are you feeling any disconfort? Nah I'm okay. Are you sure that you are not feeling anything diferent? Oh, It's coming! Then they stoped the test, It was everytning under control and also really fast, 7 min overall. Also saw some people concerned with it so: It was a Female doctor and a Female nurse and I was allowed to keep my bra on.
he has chest pain prior to syncope, had it been vasovagal he would have other prodromal symptoms. Also, tilt test should have been positive. Looks like mechanical obstruction to me.
I have vasovagal syncope, I pass out and hit the floor. Waiting at the hospital for my tilt test. This normally happens with physical pain that shocks my system.
@@Justhppy2behere What are you even talking about? That's literally what the test is looking for and IT IS not normal. If your BP drops to 79/29 the test will be positive. Is it possible that it drops to 79/29? YES. Is it normal/healthy? NO.
I just had one today and I was couscous but my blood pressure showed I should be unconscious and was insanely painful for me(then again I am only a kid).I could respond to questions and I was asked who was the president so I replied “trump unfortunately” so of course I am experiencing pre syncope and making jokes
@@cookingcraftingwithrose8474 No. But CT Heart can predict % of blockages, calcium in the arteries. It is as good as Angiography but non invasive, quick and cheaper.
I suspect this is what I have, my heart goes over 120 when I take a shower. When I get warm or it’s hot outside my heart rate skyrockets, I haven’t been able to lay down in months (I sleep-sitting up) when I lye down my heart palpitates and when I sit back up it’s pounding like crazy it’s gotten worse since I had Covid but all the heart test ekg and blood work show a perfectly healthy heart it’s very frustrating I’m in my 20s female with an autoimmune disease
it dropped? that is not typical. especially that amount. Depending on what reason you had the test for I could see them ordering a holter monitor to assess your heart rate throughout the day. If you frequently have periods of a low heart rate and it causes symptoms, they may put you on medication or even recommend a pacemaker.
@@thescholar8018 it was not great..... They had to bring bed to lying position as I blacked out after 12 minutes The test itself wasn't that bad mine lasted 45 minutes
@@jayneyxx5063 ok sorry to hear that. i have syncope so im afraid what they are about to do to me. doing research on these tests so i wont be as anxious. do you take medication or anything for your condition?
@@thescholar8018 I have something called POTS syndrome and OI syndrome you will have to google it if you're interested lol Yes I'm taking medication I can't stand up for long periods of time due to these syndromes They will be measuring you're heart rate and your blood pressure constantly you're not allowed to talk no one in the room can make eye contact with you You can only talk if your experiencing any symptoms of you're condition It's nothing to worry about They knew I was going to blackout before I did blood pressure dropped and heat rate went really high they brought the bed to a lye down position as I could feel myself go..... You're in safe hands If you do have blackouts it's no different apart from its in a controlled environment and you're being monitored that's all the straps are a bit weird kind of like a prisoner but it's so we don't fall off lol Try not to worry You must need the test otherwise they wouldnt make you go though it 🙏🏼 Fingers crossed for you tho let me know how it goes or any questions just ask me take care
jayney xx I’m nervous about the IV, is it the same as a blood test or is it worse? I’ve had people tell me that IV’s are are terrible 😣 other than that I’m looking forward to getting some answers
i’m nervous to get this done. As a younger teen female, i’m not comfortable with removing my bra… i don’t want them seeing any of that. Is there a way i can get it done without them seeing it?
@@miacoulton1729 I’m pretty sure you have too. I’m from america but not everything is the same. I didn’t get one done because i was not comfortable with it, but i need it. It may not be the same where you are at though. You can call ahead before getting it done to be prepared? Last sunday i fainted 3 times out of no where and then had to go to the hospital last saturday because i’ve been getting worse/ my symptoms have been worse. And when they were figuring everything out, they had me go to get a chest x-ray and i have to remove my bra to put a gown on. Atp i was uncomfortable but this is probably way different than the tilt table test. But i would call them and ask ahead of time. Sorry for the long reply😅😅
Never ever do a test whilst on beta blockers. You will get normal results. Talk to your Doctor before doing a test of you have prescribed. I did my test today. My CDD said nothing would show up. Guess what 120 showed up and is enough for a diagnosis. Im usually running at 130 plus standing.
How on earth can this test be in any shape or form a true to life test? When does anyone and I mean anyone lay down then stand still for 20-40 mins? What a waste of resources.
My lord that lady was beautiful. i mean a very rare beautiful . as in so at peace with herself and centered. Such a angel. i think everyone knows which lady im referring to
After my blood work is back I’m being sent for a tilt table test because every time I stand I either just get super lightheaded or completely lose vision or sometimes completely pass out and wake up while I’m hitting the ground which is a problem because a have a 5 month old 🫤
