@@milkman3873 It’s not a formal custom. It’s just part of what can happen with leftover turkey after Thanksgiving. I wish they had served proper roast turkey instead, but it’s not like I’ve never made a sandwich with leftover turkey (and mustard). But to substitute this leftover meal for actual fresh roasted turkey? That’s not the genuine experience.

My mother made the absolute best whipped sweet potatoes with toasted marshmallow topping. And yes we ate it as a side dish alongside the turkey and everything else. It was a nice contrast to all the savory things on the menu. The tradition of doing this dates pretty far back to the beginning of the 20th century- c. 1918. My mother called it “candied yams with Marshmallows.” Mom was born in 1921, and she was expert at making this dish. Her sweet potatoes or yams were always super creamy and not too sweet, and the marshmallows were absolutely flawlessly toasted to a pleasing golden brown.

I think it has a bit to do with if you watched Friends or not. Most who did know the Moist Maker Sandwhich. Classic episode. The sandwhich sounded so good that ppl started making it. And it IS that good. The key is the moist maker on the middle. Its a 3rd slice of bread dipped on gravy and placed on the middle like a big mac. That way the outside bread stays dry yet the sandwich is still moist. And made from all the Thanksgiving, Xmas leftovers.

I wish my kids could go to a school like this. They are all so well mannered, well dressed, and respectful. Must be a wonderful school.

They're so different than some American kids. Can't get over how legit funny they all are.

I'm American. I've never in my life had a leftover sandwich that had all of those ingredients on it. It's usually just turkey and maybe dressing but the sides stay on the side. Even I think that's weird.😆

As an American I've never had a Thanksgiving sandwich, but I saw this before last Thanksgiving and made one and I gotta honestly say, everything went together so well except for the yams lol. It was great just keep the yams on the side 😂

11:57 - Wow they could have used the sponsorship $$ for anything else, but chose to give back to the kids ❤️ with inflation & cost of living nowadays, this could mean the world to some of these kids/parents - Josh & Ollie, you guys are doing such awesome work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
