That was an afternoon well spent, what a transformation, the black detailing with the sharpie has worked very well and great info on the paints to bring out detail. Thanks 👍
These Jouef British H0 mail carriages come up for sale quite often on eBay here in Belgium and in France, places where Jouef were very popular back in the 60s and 70s. I haven't bought one yet as most of my rolling stock is 00 scale, but I recently acquired an H0 Mk1 carriage from Lima - so the mail coach would complement that and making the Jouef item less plasticky would be a nice project. Thanks for the inspiration!
I do a bit of British outline HO as a what if, it's mostly Lima and I've also been lucky to get stuff cheap (my detailed class 33 cost me £10 on ebay as an unfinished thing, my wagons a quid or two cheap, coaches fivers, my most expensive model was the 4F which was £20) but I have one of these and detailed it up, stuck some European couplings on it to work with the Lima stock and I'm looking for some Mk1s to have it towed behind as ive only got mk2 coaches.
The prototype for this coach looks to be the LMS TPO. Although I don't know if it ever had the Royal Mail livery. But the coach type did exist at some point in history.
The Lima class 33 Crompton-Parkinson diesel loco can be modified into the class 26. The Jouef class 21 Mann diesel loco (green livery version) / class 29 Sulzer diesel loco (blue livery version) can be modified into the BR Western region class 22 diesel hydraulic loco. The Playcraft D.2705 0-4-0DM North British diesel shunter is actually 1/80 scale, so closer to OO than HO.
