Apologies for the regular framerate dropping. An option was on where the framerate drops in low light so you could see better, I haven't seen my camera do this before, and have fixed it now
What an amazing event. Even though I haven't been regularly driving at TeamSport long, this was definitely one of the most enjoyable events I have taken part in. I thought I would put this video together which features highlights of the heats and semi-final, along with the final in full. I did a quick edit and added an outro I made ages ago to spice the video up slightly. Here is a short review on the races:
Heat 1: Started around midpack, driver right in front of me was still warming his tyres when the light went green! Managed to patiently make my way up to 1st. A good start.
Heat 2: I had my fastest kart of the day in this race. You might be able to tell some odd driving at times, the kart was pulling hard left, but was fast in a straight line. I set the fastest lap of the day in this race (59.3). Started at the back, managed to make 5 places on the first lap. I made up some more positions on the next lap - one of the moves there was a gap but it closed quite quickly so the move did look a tad ugly. Also my shoddy attempt at an overtake on Taylor Norton earned me a rightful penalty point (even though I didn't gain a spot), luckily had no effect on the positions for the rest of the day. Managed to win this race which I was pleased with.
Heat 3: Started 2nd, the tram lines were set up badly meaning that 2nd place was basically pole. Personally I think the tram line goes too far to the right for the odd positioned drivers. Didn't quite get the lead at the first corner but made a decent move on the 2nd lap.
Semi-final: Again the tram line placement showing how easy it is for 2nd place to get the jump on pole. A half hearted attempt on lap 1 nearly saw me go down to 3rd. A scrappy yet half decent move saw me retake the lead to win the semi-final.
Final: Even though I topped every race in my group and had the fastest lap out of every featherweight, I still started 2nd because my laptime in the semi final was slightly slower than Zac Venn's lap in his semis in the other group. Could argue starting 2nd was better again as I took the lead straight away. A poor moment of defence helped Zac to take the lead, and I was very annoyed with myself at the time, but ensured to stay calm to fight it back. I planned a way past and a few laps later pulled off a great move to win the event. It was an epic 1v1 in the final with Zac Venn who deserves all the credit for putting up a great fight, it really could have gone either way. Strangely we both set the same fastest lap on the same lap in this final, haven't seen that happen before.
Overall I am pleased with how I drove in each stage, still improvements to be made though. BIKC 2021 will be harder but I look forward to it.
