Whatever their faults cars back then had character, even if it was a character you didn't much like! Most of my extended family had BL cars some or all of the time. They usually worked, and some were quite handsome and/or quick. It was seen by many as a sort of patriotic duty to 'Buy British' and take the pain in order to prop up our doomed car industry. And 'foreign' (i.e. made overseas) cars were at that time seen as rather exotic and difficult to get serviced/spares for etc. Fords, Vauxhalls and these things could be serviced by practically anyone, reasonably cheaply, and to most people in '70s Britain, that was very desirable.

Ya cars today have no character at all and most are a pain to work on it's a shame that most of are brands are gone if only BL could sort their issues out maybe they would still be here.

Fair enough mate but I think the SD1 was a good car but like most cars of the 70s rust issue and a bit of dodgy build quality but you cant deny there a very good looking car

But in June 1977, the most advanced car plant in Europe (as they called it) actually produced 1 SD1 fit for the market in the whole month. The rest went back for rectification. I started work at BL in August that year as a graduate trainee

Can't believe you have the Allagro on there. The ugliest, most obnoxious car ever made. 🤢

I have to disagree the Allegro is miles away from the worst looking car I actually think they look pretty good for example the Chrysler PT cruiser now that's a contender for worst looking car of all time
