In this video from Cateel, Davao Oriental we go on a life adventure with Anselm, my Welsh friend who lives in the Philippines. We started calling him Commander Daot... but really he is just awesome! I think it is so impressive how he is living local here in Mindanao and trying his best at a fish pond business in Cateel.

My respect to Commader D. Who knew that behind that smile, this man has been through a lot. His determination to live in the Philippines and live a life that is totally different from his birth country is remarkable. No matter where you go, there will be bad and good people. As a Fishery Technology graduate I experienced before the hardships on how to work and venture into Aquaculture field. There are lots of problems you are going to encounter i.e. the frequent typhoons that visited the Philippines that would eventually eradicate your fish stock due to flood, the fish thieves that will harvest your stock at midnight, variable brackish water temperature that will affect the oxygen content of the pond's water and algea growth. the presence of nuisances that will compete with the fish stock on fish meal and algea consumption. And the most headache is on how to find the competent and reliable buyers of your products to give you profit. But I salute this Bitoy guy who bravely ventured on aquaculture business.

anselm makes do with a third world acommodation while being from a first world country, very humble and he is quite comfortable with it, very admirable. not a lot of folks from very advanced nations could do his lifestyle, heck not even a lot of filipinos could live like that....couldn't help it but i'm smiling all throughout this edition.

I truly impressed what your friend did. Having one's dream come true would truly goes too many obstacles to experienced along the path. Right employees to trust, loyalty, and honesty are characteristcs to look up. Anyway, at this pandemic food is important than anything else. For sure ppl will buy your milkfish kuya. Without fod leads any person from starvation. Just make sure you know the value of the fish to be sold in the market. By the way kuya, your payag-payag is super cool. Just cover with zeal on the sides n covered the flooring with waterproof flooring ( no bugs gets in)....you are surrounded with ponds. Slowly but surely business. Commander D for "Dignity". He's a real nice person. My family has also a fish business something like this the only difference is they get the fish from the ocean, not from the pond. Kung malapit lang sana ang Davao sa amin, baka sakaling pwede to matulungan sa pag hahanap ng buyer ng magulang ko. Marami sana silang contact na buyers ng mga isda.

Has a channel vlog? If not, please encourage him to do it. Theme of his vlog would be agriculture (fish pond) teaching locals to do it.

Kulas tell comander daut to add puddle wheels so that he can maximize the ponds with bangus, to circulate the oxygen un the pond. It can run with electricity or he can make it power it via wind.

@@BecomingFilipino also kulas i hear his about to harvest it already in a few day, after he harvest it if he could rest the land for a month or two. Just pump out all the water and let it dry for month, then on the third week apply of drying plow the land, and apple lime stone power let it dry again for a week, after thatbhe can pump water already or just open the gate let the water come in and out for days. Before starting to grow again the next batch of similya of bangus. What this process do is promoting lumot witch is a food for the bangus so that he can lower his expenses in feeds. I remember you ask mike before about algae or lumot when you guys are in capul what causes it, its the nitrates from the fertilizer that make it form to algae, this process will apply in fishponding.
