Greta review. Appreciate the in-depth look. I almost cried when you guys mentioned you probably need more than this box to play Black Powder.... oiy vey that’s a ton of models... but it would be epic to have that. Every historical players dream to have a full napoleonic army on the table
Yeah mate - mass battle in 28mm is quite the challenge - we are more likely to have a stab at some skirmish games first. We did do a Black Powder game ACW in 12mm... faster to paint, but still time consuming.
Great review with your normal mix of joie de vivre and historical tidbits which is what I love about this channel. It looks a good starter set, but it seems everyone has either a French or British Napoleonic force. I understand its for commercial reasons, but its a shame we couldn't see something a bit unusual, a Confederation of the Rhine set would be amazing, the variation in uniform colour alone would be worth it
Boots on the Table with Dom has done a confederation army and so has Brush & Quill if you want to see some of that. Both great guys I can happily endorse their work!
Scarlet for Brits. Actually called brick red which was anything from near orange to a dull red but Portuguese sunshine soon bleached that to much lighter colours.
Hi guys it's a good starter box I just don't like the detail on the plastic figures its very hard to pick out when you have undercoated them you have to guess where a lot of lace is for instance I much prefer Perry's but they don't produce battle boxes , but they don't take long to paint if your not really bothered about getting all the detail. Yes the birds nests indicate that grenadier s and light company. Take care guys good review . Terry
Club singer classic at the end there - awesome! Really enjoyed that deep dive, excellent stuff. I do hope you go with Sharpe Practice, it'll give me some added impetus to get my AWI starter sets opened (went a bit mad in the sales a while back).
More than anything, it is learning the rules I am not looking forward to. Lardy games are a bit more involved and I just struggle to find the time to learn rules. Full time job and family on top of this channel work. One day though for sure, one day.
@@ModellingforAdvantage Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean! I've watched a bunch of Travis' Sharp Practice videos over on Tabletop CP so I sort of know the rules, but I've yet to open the actual rule book I bought 6 months ago!
Didn’t know the Western front featured in the Peninsular wars😉😂. Nice unboxing as always👍🏻 I’ve the Waterloo one for British and French and got to say good starter sets 👍🏻
@@ModellingforAdvantage no not at all, your intro map normally changes . It was the bolt action one etc. i thought it may have changed, but no worries. Great vid as always and the out takes at the end was p**&ing myself 40p to go to work 🤣
@@hamsteronthepaintingtable6465 ah, well, this video was actually done quite a while ago - I was never really happy with it to be honest. Changing the background picture is a fairly recent idea. Good to know people notice though! Thanks.
@@ModellingforAdvantage no worries, always enjoy your vids even if its a period /genre that I’m not into, which says volumes of how much i enjoy them 😊 And agree Napoleonic period is a minefield for wargamers
We are certainly talking about it, but our lead times are so long on new projects, we are not likely to be early adopters. Definitely want to do it though.
Lovely unboxing guys. Shall I expect a officer for beheading lol. Looking forward to seeing JBs redcoats. P.s. the Georgians were Hanoverians hence the KGL. Port from Porto or as we call it Oporto Cavalry soliders had a leather wrist strap so you dont drop your sword. P.s. didn't realise I was such a button counter 😂😂😂
Glad you liked it mate - you can listen to me waffle in pretty much all our unboxing videos. Rarely stay on track, and mix in some history whenever I can.
@@ModellingforAdvantage I already have. would love a history lesson on the 95th and 60th foot regiment as I'm ex Green Jackets and Rifles bet you could unearth some great info. Celer et Audax
Pictons uniform was apparently onboard the baggage train which was held up. This is a true event but no reason is given in the film. I dont believe he dressed like that as a rule.. 🤣
Picton was noted for being rather scruffy. Evenue Wellington commented on his appearance which was unusual as Wellington did'nt much care what his troops looked like as long as they were where they should be with a full cartridge box.
