Interesting design for the carriages with the motor underneath the units. Cheers

That's how most diesel engines are mounted these days - in the UK at least

The 1970's were horrific for country trains in NSW, mass closures of stations and sidings plus passenger services terminated and replaced with buses. The state government of the day said back then..."If it's not paying its way then it's a drain on the public purse and will be closed." Literally hundreds of country stations went, some lines were closed, no doubt similar has probably happened in Britain.😉

The Beecham Cuts began in 1965. Many of the lines were eventually turned into main roads. A lot of the old station buildings are still present in Lincolnshire.

Must have first four months of the 1970s as the service was withdrawn from May 1970 although the 108s operated again for a year or two when the stations reopened in 1986

Well all the stations were open in 1977 - 1978 -1979 and 1980 when I travelled on the line on weekly railrovers - so I would like to know where you got that information from ?

@@scooby2142 travelled on last stopping train Saturday 7 May 1970, the northbound platform at Ribblehead & both at Long Marton were soon demolished, Newbiggin, Culgaith and Little Salkeld demolished over the next few years, although a new platform at Ribblehead was built in the early 90s the others remain closed to this day, only the former dalesrail stations Horton, Ribblehead, Dent Garsdale, KSW, Langwathby, Lazonby & Armathwaite reopened in July 1986, although I didn't travel on first train serving the reopened stations I did travel on the Saturday, when I booked my ticket from Skipton to Lazonby, the ticket man said "I've already booked one there - a man with a dog" - was Graham Nuttall & Ruswarp who's bronze resides on the up at Garsdale.

I wasn't certain when the film was taken - and after a some research I came up with early 1970s.
