I own a purebred British Shorthair. I named him Winston ( after Winston Churchill) . Winston is gorgeous, sweet and very patient. I can bathe him, cut his nails, groom him, massage his paw pads. He is in love with my adorable tiny Pomeranian. He does like being picked up, being kissed and cuddled . He is very attached to me and very social with visitors. Winston is very intelligent. I have taught him several tricks and obedience commands. It’s amazing . I adore him
Mine is the exact opposite of a typical British Short hair. He'll sit on my lap every chance he gets He's a talker and meows just because he can The only time he's relaxed and calm is when he's asleep He's not a big eater And one thing they never tell you is that they shed A LOT of hair, especially during summer.
My cat is so typical of British shorthair...never sits on my lap, got chubby quicky (even though I watch his calories intake and try to get him to exercise), takes forever to learn a trick, only meows to me when he needs something...however he will stay next to me when he feels like it and tolerates my cuddling and kissing (for a very limited amount of time...) 😆
Our brit blue is quiet, playful, lots of energy, but sleeps well. Doesnt like being held, but will come headbutt, purr and laydown on my chest and sleep if im laying down
We have 4 British shorthairs. This video is excellent. There are individual differences. We have one lap cat. All are under 4 yrs. Of age, so they all are a bit active. Bouncing ping pong balls, boxes and plastic springs are winners. One is so intelligent, it’s scary.
The BSH show their affection in their own way haha I think they’re a good practice to have a secure attachment. Like they love you but they dont need to be clingy and showy about it 😅 BSH’s are actually really smart. Sometimes they’ll misbehave to get your attention but I think it’s really isolated times.
My blue British always comes looking for me… and follows me around the house…definitely not a lap cat, but he likes to be picked up and purrs in my arms
I guess my 15 year old Brit cat isn’t purebred because she likes to sleep on my lap. She follows me everywhere I go in my house. She plays with her younger siblings that I adopted two years ago (Maine coon and ragdoll). And she’s very clingy, she will jump in the shower with me.😅 every cat is different. Their character doesn’t depend on their breed.😊
All true. I really wish my Pepper was more of a lap cat. She is super naughty and jumps up on the counter and dining table all the time. She gets a goopy eye several times a year and she gets poop stuck to her butt and sometimes leaves giblets around the house. Despite all the cons, having her has been overwhelmingly positive. We love our Pepper bear. She is sweetest in the morning and will cuddle up and purr after she she gets her breakfast. After that, she plays hard to get 😂
most of them true but my brit playful since kitty also love make them tolarate most of things they dont like. my cat enjoys companies, plays with them also likes to picking up around
Almost everything is true for our BSH. We got our kitten 1 year ago and we all love her. She does love to play around and run though. For anyone interested I am allergic to cats. I normally cant be in the same room with a cat without starting to sneeze after 2 minutes or so. But I havent had any kind of allergic reaction to our BSH. We tested it out before buying our cat though, went to the breeder and I petted her and held her for a few minutes. Even put my face into her coat a few times to be extra sure😂. It was also the first cat we went to see and there were no problems at all. Therefore I can really recommend the beautiful BSH for people with allergies.
My brit is terrified of children, meows very loudly if he's bored. If I ignore bis meowing, he will start scratching furniture. 😓 I play with him every day, but he often doesn't react to the toys. If he does that, I sit down to do my thing and then he resumes meowing. 😅 What he enjoys playing the most is chasing each other around the house, hiding behind objects & scaring each other (I kind of imitate what he does). He never extends his nails when he softly hits my hand with his soft little paw. He sometimes comes to me on my desk or next to me on the couch, but never in my lap. He often won't let me rest or wakes me up by meowing and scratching furniture at around 5.30 in the morning nowadays for some reason. I was told brits were calm cats 😓😆 He does follow me around the house, though.
I have a question so I have 2 British shorthairs their both twins if I by chance brought a yorkie home like a dog like a Yorkshire terrier will they get along? Plz reply fast
Sorry, we don't give personal advice on our channel. Speak to your vet, who knows the temperament of your pets. Having said that, with proper training, a Yorkie is generally harmless!
I just adopted my first British shorthair in December, he’s only 3 years old. Almost everything here is true about him, except he loves playing, running, and plays fetch, which he did on his own. I’m happy you mentioned the weight, we don’t over feed him, but he loves his Churo treats, he is very vocal about that lol.
sorry- i have question since im thinking about getting a British shorthair- since you've said that he's only 3 year old, which means its possibly an adult or will be in 2 years, i wanted to know how you litter trained your cat- i can't really seem to find many articles about training adult or senior cats so i was wondering if you had any idea? thank you, will be much appreciated if you respond! have a good day!
My Scottish Straight ear is crossed with British Shorthair. She has a very plush coat that sheds a lot. I'm kind of allergic to her. She is super sweet, smart, and meows quietly. She doesn't like to be hugged or held for more than a few seconds, so she wiggles away. She loves to be petted and brushed and will sit with her paws on my lap. She loves to play.
Really informative. Thank you. The problem is with Brit’s is the saggy big under their tum. I recently discovered that my neighbours thought my cat was pregnant and was feeding her. I don’t give her any titbits other than dentabites but I think this breed is often fed by others as they are so beautiful.
I have a British shorthair cat and it’s called “Kit Kit” and it stayed with me since I grew up and it likes me as its main owner. It does what stuff like the video says but it does lay on me a lot to snuggle.
My British short hair may look like a Teddy Bear but he is anything but a Teddy Bear. He is a KILLER and he is feared throughout the land. King of the jungle. Anything that thinks otherwise will feel his wrath! Or so he thinks anyway. 😁
