Brits Try DENNY'S for the first time in the USA! 

Everyone has their own opinions, we really enjoyed Denny’s and James’ sister went back again on her own 🤣 ❤ we also have tried a lot more fast food & local places. We have over 50 videos. Don’t worry, we tried IHOP 🤣🤣

So, one of the greatest mysteries has been answered. English people *DO* indeed refer to English Muffins simply as muffins. My life is complete now.

You know you can send the tea back if you accidentally ordered the wrong thing. Considered totally normal and acceptable here.

Next time mom gets tea, confirm if it is ice tea or hot tea. The usually serve both, but ice tea is more popular and common in America.

Country gravy is basically the same thing as the sausage gravy minus the sausage. They are both made with pan drippings/grease or fat, flour, milk, salt and pepper.

This was the place to go at 3 am drunk and starving! Good times :) Omg, mix the hashbrowns in the runny eggs and put them on the muffin! lol

Crazy Americans eat breakfast at any/every time of the day. Denny's is iconic in this way.

Denny’s has all kinds of food for any time of day and I think the whole menu is available at any time. So if want breakfast for dinner at 9 pm you can get it. Their prices are great too!

A lot of people don’t know this but if you order your hash browns “smothered and covered “ the put the white gravy and cheese and onions on them !! Soooo good

Now if they learn; put the knife down, pick up the pepper shaker. It is totally allowed to have two different foods in your mouth at one time. hell, even 3 or 4.

Dennys is a corporate chain. It's consistently decent. 'Mom and Pop' diners can be hit or miss but the good ones are awesome.

Denny's is a chain diner, they serve all 3 meals. Mostly known for breakfast. Considered middle of the road for a diner.

Ketchup on the hashbrowns, and jelly/jam on the English muffin/toast. Y'all missed out without the condiments!

If you're in the South, and order tea, it's sweet iced tea. If you want it unsweetened or hot, you have to specifically ask for it.

Sweet tea can be really sweet, the trick is to ask for half and half--half ---non sweet and half sweet

Denny’s is the go-to if you have a Thanksgiving dinner date with your girl at a fancy restaurant, but you don’t realize the kitchen closes early and you get there too late to eat; and so you do Thanksgiving at Denny’s because it’s the only place still open. Not that that’s ever happened to me.

i find it fascinating watching you guys document your trip because everyone i know have different go to breakfast restaurants. and i love that you guys always give an honest and unbiased opinion and are very open minded + respectful. from people in my life, it seems like more people lean towards ihop more. it can be because of a bad experience at a certain restaurant location, food not good or customer service, etc. and be influenced by one experience. i haven’t been to a denny’s in about a decade and i kind of want to go to one now that i’m watching this 😂

You’re right that it’s not fast food. Denny’s falls into its own category we call Diners. They usually serve breakfast all day, sometimes 24 hours a day, but they also serve lunch and dinner…. Maybe also at any hour! Just know that Denny’s can be great at one location and really awful at the next. So finding good one on vacation is gold! So glad you enjoyed it!

Steak and eggs in the morning is a traditional American thing. That's what we call an English muffin, a regular muffin is much bigger and sweet (corn, blueberry, oat, etc) with a big top and small bottom.

I am 64 years old and I have only been to a Denny's maybe 5 times in my life. I only went at 3 or 4 am after a night of drinking, because most of the time they were the only place open to eat that late. I put salt and ketchup on my hashbrowns, hot sauce and pepper on my cheesy eggs, and I put butter and jelly on my muffins.

Pro tip: the whole reason to get runny eggs is to dip your toast in them

A great start. I love Denny's for breakfast. Shredded hashbrowns are the best!!! Crispy & brown on the outside and soft on the inside. Chicken fried steak is a good introduction to diner food. Well done.

The gravy looks like white country gravy. Which is essentially the same as sausage gravy without the sausage. So it’ll have a similar taste, but not identical. ETA: The gravy name may be regional. I live in the PNW and we call it Country Gravy.

Patton Oswalt's Denny's bit is a great joke. "You don't plan on going to Denny's. You end up there." The description of the kid's menu is unhinged.

When I was a child, my grandpa took our family to Denny’s every Saturday morning. It is totally the classic American diner experience.

Pro tip for Chicken Fried Steak. Have to have eggs over easy or medium. You have to dip the Steak in the egg yolk. Also, you don't eat each item individually, you have to mix everything together.

As beloved as Denny’s is, it’s really just basic level good. It’s usually reliable and it’s open late so those are advantages. Once you go to more kinds of restaurants, it goes up from there.

I love Danny's, you can have anything to eat 24/ 7, I Hop is good too.

A Chicken/Country Fried Steak is a cheap, tough Flank Steak, that has had the crap beaten out of it to make it tender. Then it is dipped in fried chicken batter, and deep fried. It's usually served with either White Gravy or Sausage Gravy. It was a "poor people" meal it the old days. I personally love it.

I'm glad our English muffins passed muster! Denny's is good for a huge breakfast -pancakes and all! Glad you liked it! And yes, send your iced tea back if you wanted hot. They won't mind.

Denny's is one of those places that always tastes good no matter where or when you go, especially if someone has driven you there after you had some adult beverages!

You know, if you turn the fork the right direction you can scoop up the eggs without having to use the knife to push them onto the fork.

You can have breakfast there 24/7. I love their food! I like the "Grand slam slugger" meal!!!

There are chain restaurant 'diners' just like Dennys all across the country -- Elmers, Sharis, IHOP, Black Bear, Waffle House, etc, etc.

From Texas in the west and Washington, DC in the north if you ask for ice tea it will almost always be sweet and will not say it on the menu

My go to at 2:00am is a side of hash browns and coffee so I am awake driving home from a concert. When my dad was still with us I would meet him at the local Denny's for Sunday dinner. He had the chicken fried steak off the Senior Menu and I would have the hamburger and fries. We did this routine until he died. I still go there sometimes but it's still hard to sit where we always sat. But Denny's is a classic and open 24hrs.

A little tip, when you get a strawberry lemonade at a sit-down restaurant and it isn't a fountain drink, if it is too sweet, you can ask them to cut the syrup in half.

Its very nice to see people from other countries enjoying the food at an American eatery. I almost feel a sense of national pride for Denny''s even though I've probably taken its existence for granted.

At a restaurant, they don't generally put salt or pepper on your eggs or hashbrowns as that is a personal preference. They generally provide a salt & pepper shaker for you to add to your food so you can adjust the level of either spice. In my opinion, both hashbrowns & eggs taste better with salt & pepper.

Here’s the thing with chicken fried steak… It always comes with a big knife. But if you need the knife, it’s not a quality chicken fried steak. The side of your fork should be enough to cut a bite off.

The good thing about them liking the hash browns is that they can easily make those back home in their own kitchen with just some oil and whatever seasoning that they like.

I miss Dennys. The one where I live and the one where my youngest daughter lives have both closed. I would always get the Grand Slam....scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, sometimes a side of sausage, buttered toast (sourdough preferred) with jelly/jam, orange juice, and milk. So delicious!

That's white breakfast gravy. Usually uses bacon grease and coffee as a base with lots of flour and milk. It's usually called red-eye gravy.

I love Denny's. I love IHOP. I think I love Waffle House the most. I usually eat at the local diners when I eat breakfast out. My favorite from Denny's was always the chocolate milkshake with whipped cream at breakfast. Peace, Love!!

there are 5 types of cooked eggs that are common. soft boiled (where the yoke is still runny), hard boiled (solid yoke), over easy (pan fried with runny yoke), over hard (pan fried with solid yoke) and scrambled.

the gravy on chicken fried steak is called country gravy and is basically a bechamel sauce made with pork fat and heavily seasoned with black pepper. the only difference between country gravy and sausage gravy that you get on biscuits and gravy is that sausage gravy has actual bits of sausage mince in it.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s I would go to Dennys for breakfast all the time. They had the Grangslam Breakfast. 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs and hashbrowns for $2.99. Now it comes back now and then and it's $5.99 so not to bad.

Denny’s just announced that they are closing all US locations it was in the news yesterday. Best Denny’s I have ever been to was in Kailua-Kona, when we were there

White gravy, milk gravy, breakfast gravy, southern gravy, country gravy, sawmill gravy. All names used for the same gravy. Sausage gravy is also the same gravy but with sausage in it. They all start with a fat mixed with flour an browned, milk added an mixed until thick, lots of pepper an salt to taste.

That's all frozen food warmed by a drop-out.

Like all your subscribers, my wife and I love you guys. But I will have to admit. We were a bit disappointed to see you guys. Go into Denny's and that's because it's not a bad place. But it's not exceptional and it's extremely low on America's choices when they go out for breakfast. Certainly like everything in America. Is many people that like Denny's? But from the most part, they are only in the mid-range of mediocre. And they are not A diner. Well, not a true diner, especially when true diners are so awesome. Denny's doesn't come close. What they are though is huge is Denny's everywhere. But as far as my. Wife and I are concerned. We will only go to the Denny's when we're somewhere where there was nothing else to choose from. For if you guys liked Denny's, you would love an actual real diner.

The trick is to push the hash browns into the cream gravy. I don't know about everybody but we use the toast to eat the eggs over easy so the toast has the egg yolk flavor.

OMG you're in America, get out of these HORRIBLE places to eat! LOL Always ask someone for the best local place to eat when you are there. These chain places are crap food.

While Dennys is not great, it would be an interesting experience for a visitor to the US. Waffle House would have been far better though. I AM suprised anyone recommended it. I wouldnt have. While its not bad, since everything there is consistent, its as I said also not great. Its decent, but after you have other better breakfasts... pretty forgettable.

I was really surprised that they didn't have any jam or jelly on the table to put on your toast or muffin! Up in the New England area there's always a little basket or container of multiple flavors on the table for when they serve breakfast.
