This 😂 Last night my husband and I had dinner at Longhorn. We had the white cheddar stuffed mushrooms as our appetizer. I had taken the croutons off of my salad and set them on the empty mushroom plate. He started eating the croutons, and I picked one up, ran it through the cheese sauce from the mushrooms and gave it to him to try that way. 😂 Any excuse to pick up some more ooey gooey goodness. 💯 😂

Southern food ways are actually really interesting! While there are some foods that can be considered 'pan southern' there is still a lot of variation to those dishes regionally. Being in New Orleans will have a lot of Cajun influence in that gravy than you would find in gravy from Kentucky or North Carolina. Then there will be foods that are completely southern but only found in a specific part of the south or a specific state. There are whole books written about how food in the south developed.

I'm glad to have caught this notification this morning! ☮️ and 💕 Update, I am watching this video again and just barely noticed you both went inside Willa Jean for the shrimp and grits! We ate there when we were in New Orleans 2 years ago! WE love that place and recommend it too! Great place for delicious food!

I lived half my life in South Carolina, and shrimp & grits is my favourite dish. I ate grits most mornings for breakfast, and now I order them from Amazon so I can eat my grits in the UK. I still make shrimp & grits often for myself and my friends. I also love American style biscuits and make them from time to time. My mum has to send me the biscuit flour because you can't get it in the UK, even on Amazon.

@CristaFree “biscuit flour” is made from red winter wheat and especially fine milled. It’s awful for bread but wonderful for biscuits and cakes. All purpose flour with baking powder and salt is self-rising flour. White Lily is a staple brand as well as Martha White.

@CaptainSpaldingOICU812 I detect no lies here. I used to live in Oklahoma & wondered why my biscuits turned slightly golden on the inside & weren't that tender. Now I live in West Virginia and pick up White Lily self-raising flour at Food Lion & my biscuits come out beautifully white inside and as soft and as tender as can be. It really makes a big difference!

I love these guys so much. I watch Jolly and KE videos after listening to Mr. Ballen tell stories, because they are mostly (but not always) dark, scary and frequently sad. Or watching or news stories (I'm in the US, and there are a LOT of not-good things happening here). So I come to Jolly to lighten my mood and end my viewing day on a positive note. And they never fail to cheer me up. Heck, I think just watching without sounds could make me smile. Their expressions are priceless.

It was brought up in one of their earlier videos, but i can totally see a boom in their English Pub scene if each pub made their own Gumbo and sold it by the pint. It's the perfect food for that environment/community!!
@corwinchapman4565
@corwinchapman4565 11 месяцев назад
You're completely right, if "english pubs" regardless of location had a trend where they would make a cheap pub food stew, like a gumbo or whatever, and served it in a pint glass as a fun vibe thing, that would do fantastic numbers. Some drunk asshole sipping on a pint of gumbo right alongside his beer.

Thank you for doing these videos. Sometimes I think US cuisine is underrated on the world stage and you are helping change that perception a video at a time. Much obliged, fellows, for showing the world how very, very good our food can be. As the other commentators have pointed out, we took the best from all over the world and ran with it. Add to that glorious international panoply an historical perspective (for example, our biscuits date back to early European settlers- think your navy's hardtack as the starting point- to which we added a bit of rise, fat and other flavors that improved over time) and an understanding of what ethnic groups settled where and a wonderfully complex picture emerges. You could travel the US for many years and still not taste everything there is to offer, but you are both young enough to give it a real go. Thank you for showing that we do not just eat crisps, boxed dinners and swill garishly-colored sugary drinks. Of course, we like those things too🙂but the reality of what we eat lies far beyond these. And the generous South holds a truly unique and special place in US cuisine.

Okay, I think it was Olly who submerged the chicken biscuit into the gravy… I literally started yelling, “you’re doing it right! Yes!! “ 😂 it’s so good that way!! I’m so happy he did that. I live in the south, and I love biscuits and gravy and chicken biscuits. I don’t eat them all the time because I try to be as healthy as possible, which can be very difficult at times here lol, however, if something is good, it is just good and you go for it. So happy you’re having a real Southern experience like you did in Savannah. I live in Georgia by the way lol, just in case you were wondering.Lol😂 oh the Waffle House grits are not the same as homemade or higher quality restaurant style grits! Just fyi lol! If they are thick and not salted or seasoned well, throw them out!

I am from Arizona and love hot sauce (I put it on everything) and the food here is very different from the southern food they are eating. I would love for you guys to come to Arizona and experience our food as well as food from some of the Native American tribes. I've travelled to Europe and lived in Germany for 2 years so I appreciated all of the different countries that I have been to as well as really enjoyed the cuisine in some of those places.
