Cafe du Monde is world famous for their beignets. My parents took me there when I was little, maybe 64 years ago. Brennan's Restaurant is equally world famous. They didn't need any advertising by Jolly to help their business. They are polite and gracious people, who just wanted to give them their usual great service. Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten was in the state of Louisiana. ❤
It's 'Bananas Foster,' not banana fosters. Brennan's is a very famous Creole restaurant in New Orleans, open for 78 years right on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. I can't see it ever going out of business.
For the bread pudding, you did watch them at Dizzy's. They didn't show desserts in that episode. That was the jambalaya, filet gumbo, fried shrimp and the pork chop with the oyster dressing episode :).
Cafe Du Monde is a magical place. You sit on the tables outside, and local musicians play classic NoLa jazz while you eat the sweet warm beignets and sip on the classic chicory coffee blend, feeling like you are an extra on a sublime movie set.
A good bread pudding is like having the warmest, most tender hug from your sweet, precious grandma, who always makes you feel like the greatest person on planet earth.
If you get to come to south Louisiana you must try these deserts as well as gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice red beans and rice looks like a very simple meal but has some great flavors above kidney beans and white rice.
I cannot express this enough....New Orleans is such a traveler friendly place. The people there are so genuinely nice. My friends and I got invited to parties, joined in on some pub crawl we didn't even know was a thing, met people on the street just exploring who were super kind and gave great suggestions of things to do...which we did, we ran into a random jam band close to our airbnb in the middle of a neighborhood that invited us in to listen, never met anyone in the three times we've been in hospitality which didn't go above and beyond if we had issues or needed some help...and that's before you even put a drop of food in your mouth! This is just one of those cities you have to fully experience from the music, to the food, to the history, it is one of my favorite places on earth. Highly recomend!
You can tell the wait staff at Cafe du Monde to bring the powdered sugar on the side. I do want some, but the beignet covered in powdered sugar is too sweet for me. Worst case is to shake some of the powdered sugar off the beignet. It is correct that you need to eat beignets very fresh + hot.
Good morning y'all. I hope you're well! You really must try banana pudding... Bottom of the barrel or even a little bit below average banana pudding is really good. Quality banana pudding is life changing! You can't go wrong. My favorite Southern dessert is chocolate pecan pie. And it is pronounced (pea-con) anyone who says different is simply wrong. 😁 Also I'm sure at some point you're going to try biscuits and gravy. HOWEVER out of all the reactors I've seen try biscuits and gravy I've never once seen them try chocolate gravy. Granted it is nowhere near as good as the sausage gravy but definitely worth trying when you're in the south. ❤
You two need to come and visit us we would love to have you and you'll be more than welcome here I plan on going to England because my ancestors came from there
banana fosters is worth the hype. its very easy to make, the fire isnt that intimidating after you do it once. the butter brown sugar rum-y syrup is amazing and why it works so well. Also brennens doesnt need jollys promotion, its been considered the best restauarnt in a very famous tourist city for a long time. a few stinky brits and their lack of tips isnt gonna do much. he just seemed to be a fan already.
Don't feel like you have to go to a specific place in the south. Any decent sized city in Texas, or the South is going to have great food. Americans are for the most part friendly and they'd love to tell you what to see or do while you're visiting their town.
NO!! Do not do the Toe of Satan or Paqui's One Chip Challenge or any other spicy challenge until you are a little more used to it. Do Tabasco or one of the really sour US candies. Not spicy until you are ready.
Do not know if you have Banana splits in the UK or not. Vanilla ice creamn with a banana split down the center and half on either side of the ice cream strawberry sauce over the top with crushed walnuts over the top and maybe some whipped cream on top as well.
There's a famous ice cream place at Penn State University that sells Bananas Foster ice cream. It was my favorite of all flavors and I can't find it anywhere else
Brennan's (the place w/bananas Foster) doesnt need any commericals or exposure... they do great business... always busy, even for lunch. Its a legit NOLA institution.
Make toe of Satan cotton candy!!! You might want to watch the video Jolly did , before making it yourself though. It was really, really funny, messy, and disgusting all at the same time.
Native New Orleanian here. When y'all come here, bring your stretchy pants, you're going to need them with all of the delicious food we have to offer here.
I say this with all due respect, but on the list of things I would enjoy watching Fats do, eating hot spicy cotton candy is surely towards the bottom of that list.
Bro, new to your channel and a new subscriber. But daimmmm, I totally like your sister. She has a beautiful smile and an amazing personality! Can you put in a good word for me? Thanks mate!. Cheers.. 👏💪👍🤘
Sopapillas are more fluffy and light. Beignets are fluffy but have more dough I guess. Kind of like a warm fluffy buttermilk biscuit. I love an hour north of N.O. And as a kid in the 80’s we went to N.O. almost every weekend to go eat or the Zoo. Also fond memories of Pontchatrain Beach before they closed in 1983. I remember Hank Williams Jr. performing one evening while we were there.
It's ridiculous how they are surprised that beignets are "French" influenced when that's the whole point of the food of Louisiana, and specifically New Orleans. The comments from Ollie are stupid. 😮😂
OMG I'D GIVE ANYTHING TO SEE YOU DO THE TOE OF SATAN LMAO!! You would deserve a TON of monetary gifts haha. I know people love to prank with it but i don't think it's right. It's MIND BLOWINGLY HOT/SPICY but if you can bring yourself to do it, it would probably be some insanely good content!
