Her music just makes me tear up because the music sounds like it’s saying “good job. Good work today. You worked so hard and I’m proud of you. You earned it. *pats on back* “ that’s the vibes I get from listening to her music
Carcosa I feel a bit bad for the guys in the band. I read an article and she basically said “If I feel inspired to go back, I’ll call up the guys and see if they are willing.” I guess it is what it is, she was always the star, but they made beautiful music together.
Yoda A.K.A. Josh Rogosin, he's been doing the mix for years and he's got it down to a science. Believe me, trying to get the sound from this sort of style of recording is hard work!
I really wouldn’t worry about his pay. He’s the sole mix engineer beyond the second biggest music catalogue channel after Vevo. Trust me : I work in this industry. His pay is very likely much above yours and I too. And it’s an almost everyday gig? Jeez Sure it’s a public radio but they got the funds mate trust me they can’t do this sort of thing with like, magic in the air tbh
For a very, very long time, I've wanted to hug this woman. For around eight years, she has been the soundtrack to some of the most harrowing seasons of my life (adulthood). Absolutely dazzled by the reminder that music really can comfort us, and put words where there were just abstract emotions before.
she has IT, is one of the greatest of the greats, in a league with sarah vaughn, janis, ella, billie holiday, streisand, and aretha - the rare artists who make it about the MUSIC instead of trying to show off their voices
Brittany is THE MOST!!!! She reminds me of Willie May "BIG MAMA" Thornton; Along with the current greats, Erykah BADU/ Jill Scott/ Angie Stone and a type of Floetry, with a unique style of Bilal. Howard is too 2 too fine. Very GLAD she is out and About!!!
I am not one to shout at computer screens. So far I have cried out, "You betta SING that song, girl" and a general purpose shout (twice). The talent dripping from this artist is amazing!
My boyfriend and i broke up last night. We were emotionally drained @tinydesk thank you for uploading what is my saving grace...at least for the next few days, until im better and feel like myself again

Vinicius de Andrade I wanna be mad every time I see a comment on someone’s tiny desk about bringing on another artist - but cannot argue with this one. WE NEED HIM
I KNOW, I started nerding out a bit when I saw him. like "who is that GUY," and then I remembered it was Nate Smith, after getting a bit close to the brink of insanity. I mean.... no one around me is gonna know who Nate Smith is, like, it's a bad situation to be in....
I think it's a physical impossibility, to be either sad, or motionless, while listening to Brittany sing. I can't help but smile and move to the music, every time.
I had a rollover accident on December 26, 2023 and my car was a total loss. Brittany’s cd was left in my stereo and I just heard Stay High on a TV commercial and it took me a week to remember her name so that I could find the music on her albums again. I’m so emotional right now I could cry. Thank God I’m still here alive and able to see hear and enjoy my music. ❤
I've never really been a fan of musicians. I've always loved music, but Brittany ... I adore her. She changed my life. She puts her whole, wonderful soul into her music. I adore this musician. What a goddess.
This has become one of my favorite Tiny Desk performances. I wanted to point some things out. It seems that all of these songs make allusions to classic soul songs. The most obvious would be "Georgia" to "Georgia on My Mind." I suspect the "goat head in the back" outro is a nod to the "diamond in the back, sunroof top" chorus from "Be Thankful for What You Got." "Baby" definitely has a "Distant Lover" vibe goin' on. And I also think "Stay High" makes an allusion to "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" but that's the one I'm least sure of. I would not be surprised if someone else has already figured this out or if most of these are just stretches. The "Georgia" one can't be wrong, though.
Fedup Withem dont fret. She’s soaring her oats and creativity. Just imagine what she’s gonna make with the shakes with her beautiful confidence and experience. I’m so excited
Me too. I miss Alabama Shakes. They had such great chemistry...it was truly amazing. But, if Brittany needs to do this then we need to support her anyway. Hopefully , they will get back together one day and do another album. Glad Zak is with her though.
@@jessicaw8856 Tired of being around white people... apparently. Her best songs have come and gone if shes gonna do stuff like this from now on. Les paul distortion riffs rockin with her voice was amazing. This... is the more expected route her voice would go and the less ground breaking.
This woman is my favourite American singer/songwriter. I have this album and play it regularly. I discovered her through Alabama Shakes and saw them live in London a couple of years ago. She is amazing!
Music is transcendent...It's joy...It's meant to make you FEEL... Brit...YOU made us feel...this was beautiful. It's what music is all about. Thank you.
In Tasha Cobbs Tiny Desk, they tried to coordinate by all wearing jeans on jeans and then Tasha was like "pffft, nah, Imma be a rainbow." and when they asked her what color she was wearing, she just said, "Yes." I was also apparently the only person to notice that, at least in the first section of comments. I wasn't able to go through a vast majority of them, so there might have been someone. I am just glad they were all on the same page with this one. Mostly. The one guy looks like he is wearing more orange than red, but close enough.
