19:59 Alright, I'm out. I could handle the rambling about The Green Man and Greg's _"I just realized I'm Jesus"_ arc, but the minute he says the world was enraptured with a Britney Spears movie my suspension of disbelief jumps off a bridge.
Greg really is the classic conspiracy theorist. He's addicted to the dopamine hit of feeling like he's figured shit out. So in order to chase that high his brain is forging connections in order to achieve it.
Some political handler: "This is going to embarres the President! What to do? Ah Ha!! Quick, Brittney, make out with Modana!" Brettney: "Wha?" Handler: "It's for Democracy!!"
Re: Britney's bad political take, it was dangerous as a celebrity to come out against the war in iraq and the Bush administration at the time. Around that time The Dixie Chicks committed career suicide by criticizing Bush. Her take was the safest one for her at the time, regardless of how she actually felt.
Yeah, it was crazy. If you so much as said "maybe we should think of a solid plan and objective before invading a country." You'd be marked as a traitor and a heretic.
The Chicks are still around. They won five grammys in 2007 and in 2020 were declared the best-selling all-woman band AND country band by Neilsen Scansound. They just dropped the Dixie because seriously, f*** the south.
Not to mention she was a child. Seriously, it's on CNN or whoever for putting such a heavy line of questioning on a teen whose whole career is to sing and dance.
"I was too hyper focused on Britney Spears and Taylor Swift to have been aware of anything else that happened in the world, and I just assume so was everyone else." -Greg
Greg will one day learn the concept of "there's stuff happening all around the world, continuously" Right now he's at the level of child that hides their face behind the curtain, sure of the fact of being invisible.
Does Greg not know that celebs often use their fame to spread AWARENESS of political issues?! Like "We Are the World," Kardashians on Armenian Genocide, Kaepernick taking the knee on police brutality?
"All celebrities are a psyop" says weird man with a bizarre parasocial relationship with HIMSELF. Honestly, if his comments aren't all "Leave Britney alone", we have all failed as a culture.
There's one thing I'll give him, it's not unusual for politicians to hide bad or embarrassing news behind what they know will be big news events so its not "front page" so to speak. It's not the *pop singers* fault. She's not "running cover"
This is true. It's more politicians being sneaky than anything to do with pop stars. They don't just hide behind pop stars either they'll release stuff during like global catastrophe's and stuff too knowing people will pay more attention to a giant hurricane than what they are doing. It doesn't mean the weather is colluding with politicians
Bill Clinton : I did not have sexual relations with that women. Hit me baby one more time Britney Spears free downloads xxx free porn 18 nude. Ignore that last sentence, it was for the algo. That was the sort of political savvy you can't find in D.C anymore.
I mean, it's wild on its own given Britney Spears VERY PUBLIC HISTORY WITH NOT BEING IN CONTROL OF HER OWN LIFE that Greg can get up there and seriously claim she's some kind of special agent because things happen at the same time.
This shit that Gregg has been on lately is so dumb. Crossroads didn't even perform that well in the box office and is described by Wikipedia as "a moderate financial success" and by critics who proceeded to pan the movie, as "A cliched and silly pop star vanity project, Crossroads is strictly for Britney fans only". It wasn't even the most watched movie in the week it showed as it was outperformed by John Q., another completely forgotten movie released on the same day. Crossroads is the epitome of 2000s movie schlopp that quickly faded into obscurity and is only really notable for the presence of Britney Spears who proceeded to win a Golden Razzie for her performance. To pretend that Crossroads, the 71th highest grossing movie of 2002, was some sort of "big release" akin to our current day superhero blockbusters, and that it was somehow big enough of a deal to distract from the political failings of the Bush administration, is only really believable if you're already conspiracy brained to the point of thinking that "celebrity does a thing" means that the nefarious elites are trying to distract you from major world events. Please do better ArmouredGreggtic and spend a little bit of time actually researching the stuff you say before drawing these type of braindead conclusions.
Not to mention "Mission Accomplished" is like one if the earliest memes I can remember. Meanwhile, this was the first time I've ever even heard of Crossroads.
These people will do anything to sexify the boring reality that what American culture considers marketable and inoffensive is usually just...kind of bland
If I look at an artist’s tour schedule and the show I’m going to is at the tail end of the tour I expect a bit of fatigue. They’re living out of hotels and suitcases.
Next up: Armored Sceptic analyses the NSA sleeperagent Lindsay Lohan and her role in covering up the 2007/2008 housing and financial crisis by pretending to do substance abuse and going into rehab. True story. 💀 Bahaharain. Auaustria. 😂
Does Greg not get that it is EXTREMELY hard to dance AND sing at a commercial level during a live performance; obviously they sound worse, that's why they use voice-overs. That is like saying a painter is not actually good at painting because you asked them to do a sketch of you while they are on the bus. He so clearly doesn't understand the logistics of live music performance (ESPECIALLY pop music)
Imagining him trying desperately to keep his cringe cadence while jogging on a treadmill. The sound of slapping feet and a deluded beirdo trying to maintain a fake deep voice between his gasps
Can't be a conspiracy nut without involving "the media" in some way. It always comes back to movies and music for these people. Can't wait for the next episode when Greg freaks out about triangles if he hasn't already
A woman who had media training since her childhood as a Disney actress knows how to find the camera and her ideal facial angle, knows how to do that?!? Unbelivable greg. Gtfo
Reagan was shot over an obsession with Jodie Foster. Lennon was assassination over an obsession with Catcher in the Rye and the obsessive belief that Lennon had to die because he was no longer the person the assassin thought he was earlier in life. Both were forms of parasocial obsession but the commenter on the live stream had them swapped.
@13:00 I love it how he's talking about himself right here, but he lacks any of the self-awareness and critical reflection necessary to realise it. And his audience lack it too, so it's all quite unfortunate.
By his logic, CNN would have had to report on NOTHING BUT Britney Spears all day every day every time Bush did something dumb. And for it to have actually worked, we wouldn't know what that dumb stuff was. But we do. We do know what all that stupid stuff was. I didn't have to be reminded of any of it, but I did have to be reminded of - or find out about now, for most of them - the Britney Spears stuff. So the worst part of his claim is how utterly pointless it actually was BECAUSE IT DIDN'T F*C*I*N* WORK, GREG.
There was an episode of Star Trek like this. One of the crew went nuts and thought that literally everything that happened in the past ~6 years was an intricate conspiracy focused solely around controlling and ruining her life. Turns out, she had a malfunctioning piece of tech in her head. What's Greg's excuse?
I love Jake's take on social media. The Vietnam war was the first televised war, thanks to the availability of televisions and journalists willing to go into warzones during the fighting, and local villages, to document the war. Social media and journalists of the same caliber exist and bring us a lense into the real suffering of the wars our country wages or supports in our modern society. This is why younger generations are leaning increasingly left, cause after having this information readily available, less and less people are buying the bullshit that these wars and needless deaths are necessary.
Seriousl Greg and Sh0e live in an ARG where reality just does not matter at all. Greg is just more mask off about it but Sh0e 0n face is like this as well.
Or, there are enough celebrities out there that one is always doing something, so the media can always find one to talk about, and since there is always something happenning there is something happenning at the same time as whatever event you think is important.
@24:09 So we "have no business" asking a "young pop star" (i.e. a celebrity, and possibly also, shock!!! a woman!) for her opinions on politics and society. HOWEVER, asking a complete nobody on RU-vid who makes cringy videos of himself larping as a great intellectual? Yeah sure. Get his opinion all the time!
This conspiracy is so effective that I never even knew Britney Spears existed since like 2005? I guess they focus on teen-30's girls and Greg the "Skeptic"?
Saying that pop culture is intentionally designed to make people stupid is putting the cart before the horse. Pop culture is literally for the masses. It's in the name. In that great big bell curve of innovation and adoption, pop culture is that band smack bang in the middle. The explorers and the innovators are off towards the leftmost edge, discovering things that are fringe and niche and weird to the mainstream. And by the time those things reach the mainstream in the middle, those explorers and innovators are onto different things. But then past the big bump in the middle and towards the right, you have the late adopters. They miss the memo constantly. They're watching Iron Man for the first time while the mainstream is just now getting sick of Marvel movies. They're only just now discovering how angry should be about Brie Larson (for some reason), and they have worked out how to make RU-vid videos. But the mainstream doesn't really care. And the explorers in the innovators have found something else to be furious about. One day we'll find out what it is! And that's what culture is. That's what pop culture is. It is that transmission, adoption and movement of ideas. There is no grand conspiracy to create stupid people. People are only stupid if you don't understand their thoughts, actions and ideas. Stupidity, just like intelligence, is relative.
Greg may want to look at the group of people focused on global politics versus the group of people focused on Brittany Spears' life in the early 2000s, and see how much overlap there is.
Does Greg know how hard it is to sing and dance at the same time?? Britney being out of breath during a live performance is normal. Yeah it sounds bad, but that's because she's out of breath from dancing at the same time!
late to the party but it should be noted that Britney was going through quite a bit of abuse, being stuck in a conservatorship, and was overall just abused by the people surrounding her. Using her as an example for how corrupt celebrities are is incredibly unfair. There are plenty of actual corrupt famous people who have done and said terrible things, advocated for corrupt policies and corporations of their own will, but skeptic chose an actual victim of hollywood to make the center of this video, very frustrating to see.
Remember when being labeled as a skeptic meant that you were skeptical about some things rather than today's definition of gullible idiot that falls for the lamest of conspiracies?
I was 12 during the Kevin Federline stuff. I was watching WWE during that the time he beat John Cena I think and I still didn't care about any of the Brittney stuff.
The song Baby Shark was loudly played to prevent homeless ppl from sleeping on park benches at night. I cannot recall which city did that, but distinctly remember it being done a few yrs ago. Maybe that song was just another prong of the larger conspiracy as propaganda to distract the youth. 😂
I love it how conservative and kookie conspiracist "sceptics" act completely contrary to how sceptics should act. Extrapolating a handful of cherry picked, out of context examples to define the WHOLE and make grand absolute assertions is NOT a very sceptical thing to do. But it's not uncommon for these people to cosplay as sceptics, intellectuals, academics, scientists, experts ... They just need to put on that obnoxious deep and authoritative voice.
Greg is the type of person who is convinced that people cant pay attention to more than like two news stories at once. Meanwhile he rambles on about 14-tier conspiracy theories more complicated than things just happening because other humans have free will.
Was he always like this and I just never noticed? I kind of lost track of AS quite a few years ago but I didn't' like him enough to remember exactly when or why I unsubbed.
"Sad blonde rich girl" - the whole issue was that all of her money was being controlled by her family as they worked her like a dancing monkey. So weird that he didn't know that since it was the biggest news in the whole universe, obviously.
