Okay, I never attempted to do anything like that, but I will critique their laws as I find some of them to not match the crime committed here. "stop holding Griner up as some hero." at what point did I ever even imply that I was putting Griner on some kind of hero pedestal? I'm not sure where you got that from. she broke the law should not be the end all-be all of your argument. if you were caught J-walking in Canada and given 5 years in prison would you feel your punishment fit your crime? would you have the "well I broke the law attitude?" of course not because that's not an effective argument. i find your lack of empathy for Griner interesting because it's my thought that we would be happy that we were able to free an American from a hostile foreign territory after an unjust sentence but since you feel as though less than a gram of cannabis oil warrants 10 years in prison, maybe our sense of empathy are just too different.

I would argue that you are misguided on this one slightly. I understand your status as a veteran but i feel you have missed some important points here. Griner was not prioritized, I made this clear in the video, Russia had no interest in trading Mr. Whelan for anyone at this time and the trade proposed by Russia was Griner for victor or nobody so we should be happy than an American life was prioritized here and that she will be coming home safely. The Biden administration has stated that they will continue to explore options to bring him home so your outrage is misplaced.
