What I really like about Daima is how loudly it screams Toriyama: the Sandland-like deserts of the Demon Realm; the fantasy elements of Dragon Quest; and making Goku small evokes both GT and the original Dragon Ball in terms of fun adventures where the power creep is pulled back a little bit.
@@3slicessenpai GT was supposed to homage to original Dragon Ball to begin with and Toriyama was excited for that and was quiet disappointed because it failed
@@vegetajp7 But we do get Goku turning into a child and going on an adventure... like in GT... I know Toriyama didn't create GT nor did he design SSJ4, but still...
@@Kangstor Honestly, I don't think GT was a failure, it just didn't live up to Z's massive success. But there are some things GT introduced which would even show up in the canon. It definitely had impact with stuff like the visuals, the music, the lore and the ending.
There are rumors that this story takes place right after Buu arc but before Battle of Gods (introduction of Beerus and whis). They are introducing demon realm and these characters for an upcoming plotline in DBSuper. And yes it's a canon story written by Akira Toriyama. It takes place in the original timeline of dragonball.
@@maorfahima7315 Exactly I agree. Kibito Kai is seperated and that literally doesn't happen until Super so it can't make sense to happen in the canon story.
@@uchihabomber1296 yea and people say” maybe it defuse them when they grew little “ than why didn’t it defuse buu from the grand supreme Kai or turning him to kid buu it turns everyone to children even if they never were children
@@maorfahima7315 I agree I think the best way to view it is that it’s just a stand-alone fun story overall. No reason for it to really be canon just to be fun
You know, I was always iffy on this plot idea, but I remember as a child, I was always so jarred by how there seemed to be no consequence to Dabura dying. Like, wasn't man's supposed to be important to the Demon Realm? So this story for me is very welcome, lol.
This shows only gonna be about 20 episodes, hopefuly we get super afterwards. But lets enjoy Daima! Also this is very likely right after the Buu saga and before Super. Toriyama wrote this story
The team that made the broly movie worked on this show. Also, the animators just finished animating Daima, so yes, daima is done already, lol. We will not be having dragonball super any time soon because of the legal issues happening in the background since Toriyama's death AND shueisha does not want a super anime yet until we have more arcs in the manga.
How accurate is that last part? It’s rather strange if Shueisha’s actually waiting for _more_ arcs considering we have two pretty lengthy arcs already, plus what I imagine is a decent amount of episodes for the prequel to, and the aftermath of the Superhero arc
@kevo5133 animating those arcs will be pretty fast, we can go through both Moro and Granolah in a year. When the anime was ahead, the mamga suffered, so they want to prioritize the manga first.
idk if anyone here talked about it already but the manga has finished up the Superhero arc and they are currently on hiatus until they decide what to do with it
Daima takes place between the Buu saga and Dragon Ball Super. The characters get turned into kids, but Goten and Trunks were already kids which is why they turn into babies.
I don't think we're _not_ getting Super, but it makes sense if they want to avoid filler that they'd wait before animating further arcs. I haven't read past the Tournament of Power in the manga but I have to assume there's not lots more past where that ended. Yet.
I wouldn't say CRAZY. BUT this newest trailer definitely got me more hyped for it for sure. I was scared for a while. And why are they so weird about showing us the rest or them like Gohan???
I think this is standalone. It's something of a "What if.." scenario revolving around some conspiracy that turns Goku and crew into smaller versions of themselves and they go to a new world to get to the bottom of whatever caused this. Similar to early GT in plot structure, but DAIMA looks to be far more interesting. The subtitle 「ダイマ」"Daima" is curious and I bet is another name pun cause it is an actual term. But in the context of this feature 「大」(dai) "big" and 「魔」(ma) "demon" are terms the title could be referring to. Just spitballin'.
It might be like how yugioh fillers are. Like when they were in the battle city tourney and then out of nowhere ended up in Noah's virtual cyber realm while Marik was chilling on the ship.
It can't take place in the same timeline really since Supereme Kai and Kibito are seperated which doesn't happen until Super. This is my main factor for determining it if anything. I'm personally fine if it is it's own thing not everything good has to be canon man
I feel like keef never keeps up with stuff and always just has the bare minimum information The October date has been established for a while Daima is original written story by Toriyama for the anniversary Super Hero was the last arc in the manga just expanded with stuff not in the movie Everybody got turned into kids or younger versions of themselves that's why they're chibi Information I'm not sure was confirmed is that the show will be 20+ episodes and that all the episodes are done before airing which is crazy if true, And that Daima and Sparking Zero will release on the same day
Super isn't happening rn. Shuiesha and capsule corp tokyo are in a legal battle over dragon ball rn and Shuiesha doesn't want the anime yet because they want the manga to be ahead which is fair. Toriyama's passing also hendered the manga's monthly release date (which as of rn of me typing, has still not come back from hiatus).
Is it just me or do you think Daima might have Akira Toriyama's version of SSJ4. Daima is similar to GT when it comes to Goku becoming a kid and exploring new places. The similar start up makes me think this is Akira Toriyama's original plan for GT before GT became what it was. I know this is a VERY OFF hottake and even if it had absolutely no relation to GT in any shape or form; Daima would still be last amazing piece of work by the father of DBZ.
GT is ass but it had cool concepts. This isn't a GT remake at all tho. Super was already the redo of an after Z story. Only similarity this has to GT is kid Goku lol. But then that's like saying GT is a OG DB remake
Super already took place between the end of Z and GT(if you want to acknowledge GT lol). Why are they trying to squeeze in more stuff into this tiny time period. It already didn’t make sense time wise with super smh. They need to stop doing this and just advance the story already. I don’t like that they keep squeezing in events that already happened into this little time period. It makes no sense. I really hope Daima is after Super or even better, after GT leading into something completely new.
