These are both fantastic broadheads, with excellent reputations & loyal followings. Which will perform better in my tests for flight, durability, edge retention, & penetration?
Please consider donating to my Channel so I can do more testing. The link is on my home page graphic. It is www.paypal.me/luskarcheryadventure

You know,you say you know we dont hunt cinder blocks but if you think about it .. when you have a good pass through and smack a good hard rock or hard tree root , we kinda do hunt rocks And when you pay 100 $ plus for blades I know I want to use them more than one time .. So I think your tests are spot on

I was told if an arrow was passing through an animal and the tip breaks off a solid broadhead it will continue to push forward in a more or less straight line and penatrate, where a bent broadhead will cause the whole arrow shaft turn and try to push through the animal sideways, bringing the forward momentum to a stop much faster
@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures 2 года назад
It can do that. But it completely depends on the bend and what it hits. That's why I prefer a head that doesn't bend or break :) The advantages of a bent head is that they still keep cutting inside an animal...but can hinder penetration. A broken blade may penetrate better, but make a very small hole; or the broken blade end can also hinder penetration and only one blade cutting can also veer the head off its course. By and large, I'll take a head that bends slightly over one that breaks.

Wow! That Iron Will is the real deal! Thinking of switching to a 2 blade head which I think the Iron Will is even though it has the bleeders. Curious if you have to tune your setup much when using these heads? Also I hate to be that "why don't you do this or could you do that" guy. But... I would love to see how the heads would do into the plywood from an angle shot since we sometimes don't get a chance to shoot straight into our targets while hunting. @LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures 5 лет назад
Thank you Marco. I'm sure they will get the job done. There is a lot about the head that looks good, and I applaud any company that finds a niche in the market. It takes a lot of work to create and launch a broadhead company. And they are half the price of a German Kinetics, which is nice. They are similar to the GK Silver Flames, but I doubt they have quite the same level of quality. I prefer a steel or titanium ferrule in a fixed blade head. But I know there are many good heads, like Silver Flames and Magnus that do fairly well with aluminum. That being said, I have to reserve any final judgement because I have not personally tested them.

It looked like the arrow with Silver Flame hit the target on an angle on the penetration test. This will really hurt penetration. I like the width of cut of the Silver Flame but like the Iron Will overall. I will probably never get either for my whitetail hunting because of cost though. I will probably just go with the Muzzy Trocar for cross bow & stick with the MX-3's for compound. Especially since I only shoot 15 yds max at animals. BTW, you are an amazing shot. I don’t think you would notice a difference shooting either of those heads at an animal, similar design similar results . One has better metal , which isn’t per say necessary. In the end which one can you get cheaper . The German kinetic is gonna have a slightly wider cut.

@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures 5 лет назад
That's a good question Tommy. Perhaps it is, but I'm just not a big fan of the way they open from the front, as opposed to a rear deploying mech. They just don't get a nice entrance hole. Now, if you blow all the way through an animal, it won't matter. But if you don't get a pass through, you will have very very little blood to follow. For turkey though, that head would be awesome.

Right? I hate using Single Bevels on my targets! If I can get a thinner target or one that's been shot a lot, it's much easier cause I can just push the arrow through and unscrew the head. They're so hard to pull back out cause of that rotation.

No offense to anybody out there, but these air these arrowheads are not made to go through what they made to go through flesh
@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures Год назад
Yes of course. I fully understand that. The point of the tests is to provide comparative analysis between different heads, under the harshest conditions. At the same time, a hard impact on bone, especially at angles, can be much more damaging to a broadhead than a straight impact on steel or concrete. My data help people know what a head can and cannot handle. The viewer can decide whether that's important to them or not. But if one head can handle something another one cannot, all other things equal, I know which one I'm going with.

Haha. Yep; certainly not for everyone. But there are people who have those kind of budgets.

WishN I Was FishN Haha. Yeah. You’d be surprised by how many people buy them. Before these I used a footed Easton Hexx with 75 gr brass inserts and they did quite well in my destruction tests as well.

Kinda unfair to compare a vented against a unvented broadhead. i'd still feel German Kinetics makes a far superior hunting head than a Iron Will. I own them both and killed hogs with both.

Yep, I agree it's unfair. Nowadays, I make sure that "broadhead battles" are of more similar design.

Any chance on seeing the new daysix heads?

Perhaps I will at some point. I am not a big fan of S30V steel for broadheads. Solid uses the same steel. It's fine for knives, but it is not very good at impact resistance. Even in knives, it is known for being prone to chipping. For broadheads it just doesn't make sense. They do get really sharp, and they are very non-corrosive, and they do hold their sharpness--but the edge chatter and chipping is just not worth the price. There are better options for the money. A2 Steel is a way, way, way better option. Google SV30 for knives and you'll see what I'm talking about.

WishN I Was FishN Yeah, I hear you. For all my Broadhead destruction tests, I get a ton of questions about what arrows I’m using. So it saves me a lot of time to introduce them in the video. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.

I disagree when comparing GK vs ABS Silver Flame. 440C is much better than 440B and ABS has actually made the head easy to get in the US. Both have tight tolerances.

I haven’t even watch the video yet and this is stupid why would you compare the XL to the iron will? You should use the standard silver flame
@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures 5 лет назад
Well, if you watched the video you'd see why I did it. The XL has .3" less of a cut than the Iron Will. If I went to the smaller Silver Flame, it would be way way less. Then that wouldn't be a fair comparison.
@markhess6061
@markhess6061 5 лет назад
Lusk Archery Adventures it doesn't matter if it's a little less of a cut, the four blade versus the two blade regardless of total cutting surface is still not a good comparison. I like all your testing, it's great information please don't get me wrong, I just disagree with comparing a four blade to a two blade
@markhess6061
@markhess6061 5 лет назад
They shouldn’t be even compared to one another, they are so different, I don’t even wanna watch the video
@LuskArcheryAdventures

Why do you say that? Both premium heads; similar cutting diameter, same price, and 125 gr.
@markhess6061
@markhess6061 5 лет назад
Lusk Archery Adventures two blade, versus a four blade. And dented it versus solid. To me that's two major differences. Like I said in my other message I totally enjoy all the knowledge and information you're putting out but at least I can voice my opinion

Lusk Archery Adventures also I actually own both not the exact models you were testing but I'm a bit of a Brodhead whore, if you will. LOL I love testing and using all different types of pads with the exception of expendables which I don't touch. I'm a big fan of both of those, and I'd say at one of my other I Favorites is a two bladed VPA

@LuskArcheryAdventures yup. Cause once you draw it you'll never get another chance to enter the cinder block lottery ever again 🤣 Now have to decide how I want to mount it, debating on a pouncing pose or a frontal pose lmao. Maybe have the cinder block pouncing on a mountain lion or black bear

Let’s see another test now that iron will makes a wide cut!!!! German kinetic xl vs iron will wide cut!
@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures 4 года назад
Thanks for the suggestion. If you donate the heads, I'll do the test :) They are really pricey. But the IW would win hands down. The ferrules are much stronger and the steel is much more resistant to impact.
@ochiAUT
@ochiAUT 3 года назад
@@LuskArcheryAdventures there is more behind steel. A2 vs 440b so when steel is more chrom then automatic it is not so hard . so when you mean the IW is harder then also they earlyer rust than the GK. This is simply metalurgy. And the Rockwell from 440b is 55-60 and the A2 is 58- 63 so when you say the iron will is harder that is more in mind than in reality. Sorry shooting on Stones says nothing to me . And try to sharp them booth . you will see - the hardener steel is not everytime the best choyce.
