Next to my love for God, my family, and church, my passion is bowhunting. I hunt in the Western US, Midwest US, South US, Canada, and Africa. I have taken hundreds of animals and dozens of different species of game with a bow.
I use a Bowtech SR6, QAD Ultra MXT Rest, Black Gold Ascent Sight, Spot Hogg Wiseguy Release, Bishop Mammoth arrows, QAD Exodus, Bishop Archery, Afflictor, Sevr, and Iron Will Broadheads, Kifaru Pack, Zeiss Conquest HD Binoculars, Leica Rangefinder, Kuiu Clothing, and Cold Steel Blades.
Just spitballing for a drainage test: plastic over waterlogged foam sponge? Maybe foam sponge in a container with a known amount of water? the hit zone becomes a crazy hard problem. But, something that slows it all down. So draining is a 10 minute affair instead of 3 seconds. My reasoning is that the "wound channel" will open up a drainage point in the foam and allow water to flow out of it. The more surface area the faster the liquid should disperse from the foam. Be easy to test with some known heads to see if the data correlates. Just an idea.. :)
Boy wish you would have shown how to assemble. No youtube videos on that. Mine came with blades rubber bands and metal shock collars but can't get them assembled without blades falling out of ferrule. Frustrating
I love the 2 plane cutting but not the broken blade. I ran into the same weakness on the SIK dual plane mechanical. The blades always seem to fail at the anchor/pivot point. I also found the B3 MEG to be a weak performer as well. I’ll stick with Beast, Sevr, Swhacker, Exact, Trifecta, & the like.
Great Video, sir! I thought that was a very compelling head. Until it broke in the mdf. Had the blade broke in the steel plate that wouldn't have bothered me much.
Haha. I get it. While I use heads that use O Rings or other replaceable mechanisms….there is a big appeal to not having to worry about those at all. I think it’s worth a 1 pt bonus :)
Definitely want be using that broadhead but I love your videos there awesome!!! Have u ever tested Meat seaker broadheads I've watched all your videos and u test soooo many but I've never seen u test those! Not saying there great broadheads but I've killed a few deer with them there ok but thought u might want to test them again there called meat seakers!! Thanks man I love your videos you do an awesome job❤❤❤❤
Thank you. I used to hunt with Meat Seekers when they first came out. They sure flew well. But I haven’t done a formal test of them. I need to do that in the future.
Zero reservation. I’d use them for those animals with my set up for sure. I consider these some of the very best mechs for larger sized game-if not the best.
Great video as always! I thought the pin would fail that holds the blades but it was the blade itself. I think if they can beef up the back of the blade they might be on to something.
Does anyone know why the Razor 252's come with the bands in front of the washers? I have had them snap after about 50-75 shots and I'm not sure what the function of them is and if they're that important. I notice in the video Lusk doesn't have any bands in front of the washer so I assume they're not too important as far as arrow flight/performance goes.
I can’t really remember, cause this test was from a while ago. But it could be that the bands are there just to hold the blades in place, when they are not on an arrow-like the Exodus.
I would. It’s important to remember with a spinner that the camera is in very closely and then I also edit the video to magnify the screen even more. So you can notice even the slightest Spine issues. Where with the naked eye, I don’t always even see those. I can’t remember what the case was with this one, but I know that has happened quite a bit before.
Seems like the perfect blade for animals! ZERO flaws. Remained under the 200 "threshold" after the first shot? That should be an automatic 10. Two words, replaceable blades, in case you miss everything and hit metal or rock.
Bought 3 of these 125 grains and my grandson put one through a mature Georgia doe a couple of days ago using my SWAT X1 from a ground blind. Clean through the vital V from 30 yards. Doe didn't know she was hit ... walked about 15 yards and fell over. After passing through, the arrow ricocheted off the ground (probably hit a rock) and stuck 6' up in a tree about 15 yards past. Broadhead still spun true but had a little bit of tip curl and the blades were nicked up but straight. I filed out the tip curl and replaced the blades. The holes were bigger than I would expect from a 1.5" two blade and the bleeder left a nice hole in the middle. Blood trail didn't start until right before she fell but that's to be expected from a ground blind shot and I didn't need to track anyway. I took it to a processor and don't know if it cut through rib bones, but it passed through the rib cage nonetheless. Of course, this is just anecdotal evidence and not as severe a test as you put them through but the head performed flawlessly and can be reused. Your testing provides very useful information and is much appreciated. Arrow setup: Victory XBolt, 125 gr SEVR 1.5 hybrid, lighted nock, TAW=470 gr, FOC = 21% measured.
